Viva Learning

Viva Learning is a free continuing education platform for dental professionals, built around live webinars, on-demand recordings and short podcast episodes that each carry CE credit. Its About page describes it as "an industry-wide dental continuing education platform that delivers free CE accredited content through the convenience of the Internet," owned and managed by Viva Learning LLC. It is a product for the learner: a dentist, hygienist or team member who needs credits and would rather earn them from a laptop in the evening than at a weekend course.

The funding model explains the price. The About page says Viva "is supported by corporations, organizations and other entities that are interested in and dedicated to high quality, continuing dental education," and every webinar names its CE Supporter. Access starts with one sign-up: "Sign up for your first webinar and get your free CE Pass," the About page says, and the "CE Pass gives you unlimited, free access to all Viva content." The company's stated aim is "free online access to high quality, clinically relevant presentations (interactive and on-demand), with the goal of helping dental professionals improve the way they practice dentistry."

What you get

Three formats sit side by side. Live webinars run on a published schedule: the live webinar page showed "32 Live Webinars" available, with sessions listed from 9/30/26 through 1/12/27. Most start at 7:00 PM ET (4:00 PM PT), each also shows the time in UTC with a "Convert to your time zone" link, and a learner reserves a seat for the session. Each live session carries "1 Live, Interactive CEU". On-demand webinars are recordings released with a date, a credit value and an expiration date, credited as "1 CEU (Self-Study)" on the newest releases. Dental podcasts are numbered episodes (the home page showed Episodes 805 to 807) worth 0.5 CE credits each, with guests such as Dr. Lori Trost on the patient experience and Dr. Mackenzie Kelley on the injection composite technique.

The subject range is wide. The content search groups the library into categories that run from 3D Printing Technology, CAD/CAM Technology and Materials and Cone Beam CT to Infection Control, OSHA/HIPAA, Medical Emergencies, Pharmacology, Sedation, Sleep Medicine, Teledentistry, Practice Management and Dental Hygiene, plus a California Required Classes category. The live schedule shows that range in practice: Zirconia Reimagined with Dr. Edward McLaren, a session on provisionals from single units to veneers, enamel opacities and resin infiltration, biofilm management in periodontal and peri-implant therapy, Er:YAG laser therapy for snoring, oral cancer screening, sensory-friendly dental environments, a two-part series on airway, inflammation and periodontal disease written with hygienists in mind, and real cases of practices navigating OSHA investigations. Presenters include dentists as well as hygienists credited with RDH after their names.

The newest on-demand releases follow the same pattern. One sets out an isolation protocol for pediatric and teen patients with Dr. Joshua Solomon, one covers the fusion of digital and analog restorative workflows with Dr. Bob Lowe, and one, presented by the President of the Georgia Board of Dentistry, deals with dental unit waterlines and compliance.

Each on-demand course page gives the presenter, release date, credits, expiration date, AGD Subject Code and CE Supporter. The CBCT implant planning webinar with Dr. Joshua Nagao, for example, lists "Release Date: 7/20/26", "1 CEU", "Expiration Date: 7/20/29" and "AGD Subject Code: 690". Its description sets out learning objectives under the line "By the end of this CE webinar, participants should be able to:", and the session includes a "scan to plan" demonstration: opening implant planning software, reviewing a CBCT scan and virtually placing an implant in real time.

Credit works the same way across the library. A learner watches the video, then takes the exam: the course page says "Upon completion of the video, the Take Exam button will activate," and the member menu includes a Pending Exams area. The support page adds a short video on taking the CE exam after a live webinar, so the step from attending to earning the credit is documented for both formats.

Beyond the courses, the menu lists a dental blog, 5-Minute Drill Down Videos, Clinical Tips, Dental eBooks, Product Reviews and a Product Library, where a company filter shows each supporter's products. Course pages link to the supporter's entry in that library and carry a request form for an in-office demo, an in-office Lunch & Learn (CEU), product brochures, product samples and clinical research. The menu also lists a new Premium CE Courses section, which the pages do not describe or price.

Accreditation and credit

Viva states two approvals on its About page. It is a "Nationally-approved PACE Program Provider for FAGD/MAGD credit", Provider #217544, for the period from 11/1/2025 to 10/31/2029, with the caveat that "Approval does not imply acceptance by any regulatory authority or AGD endorsement." And "Viva Learning, LLC is a Registered CE Provider with the CA Dental Board", Provider # RP5747, "Term through 6/30/2028."

Course pages add the AGD Subject Code for each recording, and every item lists its credit type: live and interactive for the scheduled webinars, self-study for recordings and podcasts. A licensee can see before reserving a seat whether a session counts as live or as self-study, and how much credit it carries.

Cost and access

Viva's webinars, recordings and podcasts are free; the page titles read "Free Online CE Courses" and the CE Pass covers "all Viva content". An account comes with the first webinar sign-up. The free e-newsletter announces upcoming live webinars, and the About page says readers can "Link directly from the newsletter to reserve your online seats" and hear about "new CE opportunities that specifically meet your interests."

Live sessions run in Zoom. The support page says "Live Viva Learning webinars require the Zoom application," adding that installing it "takes less than 30 seconds and you only have to do this one time," and it offers attendee instructions for live webinars as a PDF. The same page states "Adobe Reader 7.0 or higher is REQUIRED!" and provides a test PDF so a learner can check the installed version. On-demand course pages offer an alternate video player alongside the main one.

Support

Help runs through a Support Request Form on the support page, with inquiry types for General Feedback, a Live Webinar Question, a Technical Issue or Other, plus fields for name, company or office, email and phone. For Adobe Reader problems the page points to adobe.com.

Who it suits

Viva suits dental professionals who want credit-bearing education without paying for each course. General dentists, hygienists and team members can all find sessions written for them, from restorative and implant workflows to infection control and OSHA compliance. The evening live schedule fits practitioners who want an interactive session after clinic hours, and the on-demand library and half-credit podcasts fit those who would rather fit learning around the week. Solo practitioners and small offices without a CE budget get the most out of the free model. Dentists in California will find the California Required Classes category and the CA Dental Board provider number on the About page.

One caveat follows from the model. The sessions are supported by dental manufacturers such as VOCO America, Ivoclar, Pulpdent, Carestream Dental and Philips Oral Healthcare, the supporter is named on every webinar, and each listing links a disclaimer, bio and commercial disclosure. A learner who wants to read that disclosure before a product-focused session can do so from the course page. Every licensee should also check how their own board treats this credit, since the About page itself says approval does not imply acceptance by any regulatory authority.
