What Verve OT Learning is
Verve OT Learning is a professional development provider for occupational therapists (OTs) in Australia who work with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The home page calls it "Australia's leading NDIS-focused learning hub", offering "training, support and community for OTs at every stage of their career." Its tagline is "Guiding Occupational Therapists from uncertainty to mastery."
It is a learner product rather than a course-building tool. An OT can buy a single live workshop, work through recorded self-paced sessions, book clinical supervision, buy a report template, or join the Inner Circle, a monthly or annual membership that bundles live Q&As, masterclasses, short recordings, templates and a peer community. The home page puts the choice plainly: "Whether you're after a one-off workshop, regular supervision, or ongoing membership, you can choose the kind of support that fits your schedule, goals, and learning style."
Who runs it
The About page introduces the founder, Sarah Collison, who is "known for her work in assistive technology, home modifications, and complex functional assessments" and for "translating NDIS jargon into plain, human language that OTs can actually use." On the membership page she writes that she has spent "more than 23 years in OT, with the last 12 deep in the NDIS world." She set up Verve OT, an OT practice in NSW, before founding Verve OT Learning. The About page adds that she facilitates the NDIS OT Community of Practice, "an online gathering of over 12,000 OTs", and co-hosts the OT Unplugged podcast.
Other trainers are described rather than named: "Our trainers are experienced OTs who get the realities of clinical practice and the ever-changing NDIS rules, because they're out there navigating them too."
Ways to learn
Live Workshops are interactive online sessions led by experienced OTs, where participants "ask questions, swap ideas and learn alongside other OTs." The membership page refers to "our 90+ online training workshops", and the site links to its workshop purchase terms.
Self-Paced Learning offers recorded sessions "packed with tips and strategies to help you tackle common NDIS challenges with confidence."
Clinical Supervision comes "one-on-one or group", with the promise to help OTs "meet your professional requirements, build your skills and keep growing in your OT practice." The About page links to a list of supervisors.
Bespoke Learning and Development is the option for employers: training "built around your organisation's needs and the real challenges your OTs face", delivered virtually or face to face.
Templates and tools are sold individually. The High Support Needs Safeguard OT Recommendation Framework, for example, costs $12.00 and arrives by email as an editable Microsoft Word file. It gives structured prompts for documenting how a participant meets the High Support Needs safeguard criteria, their existing 24-hour funded supports, support ratios across day and night, and the effect of a funding reduction. It is designed to sit inside an existing FCA or SIL Functional Capacity Assessment template, or to be completed as an addendum to one already submitted, and the page is clear that it is "not a full FCA or SIL Functional Capacity Assessment report template." Inner Circle members already have it in their membership.
The Inner Circle membership
The Inner Circle is described as "a membership built just for Occupational Therapists working in the NDIS space." Its page lists what members get:
- Weekly live Q&A sessions with Sarah and experienced OTs. Recordings go into the resource hub, timestamped by topic, and the FAQ says "Every session is recorded and uploaded to the resource hub so you can watch back anytime."
- Two exclusive sessions a month. OT masterclasses are presented by experienced guest OTs on topics that apply "across various scopes of practice, not just the NDIS." Past masterclasses include Dignity of Risk vs WHS in manual handling practice, Self-Leadership to Prevent Burnout, Obligations for Managing Health Records, Using QR Codes to Gather Information, Retailing Products to Clients and AI for Report Writing. The NDIS deep dives are presented by Sarah Collison and often grow out of member questions; past ones covered SDA Home Ownership, evidence gathering for 24/7 support, SIL insights, ILO insights, a case study on vertical lifts and SDA insights. The page counts "Over 30 pre-recorded masterclasses currently available plus live sessions each month!"
- Templates, report examples and checklists: report templates, writing guides, sample wording, clinical reasoning prompts, assessment tools and questionnaires, all downloadable.
- A private OT community forum, which the page says connects "450+ OTs across Australia."
- A searchable resource hub holding past Q&As, templates, topic guides and toolkits.
- Bite-Sized Learning: a new short episode each week, exclusive to members, on topics from functional capacity assessment tips and funding categories to emerging NDIS updates. With the Verve OT Learning app, a video plays like a podcast with the phone locked, so an episode fits between appointments or in the car.
- A 10% discount off all online training workshops, "over 90 options available."
- Automatic free access to AT Connect, described as "our monthly free webinar series for OTs looking to connect with AT suppliers across Australia."
Prices
The membership page lists two prices. The monthly membership is $129 and "involves a three month commitment. After this time, you can choose to pause or end your membership as needed, just reach out to us!" The annual membership is $1,419, and "secures you a discounted rate with an upfront payment." The FAQ frames the monthly fee as "less than the fee charged for one hour of billable time." The template above is $12.00. The pages do not list workshop prices or say how many CPD hours a session is worth.
What members say
The membership page tells the story of Anna, a sole trader OT in rural Victoria who was close to burnout. After using the templates and examples, her first SDA report "was approved without any questions", and she wrote: "I finally feel like I know what I'm doing. This has taken a huge weight off my shoulders." Member comments on the same page include "The weekly inner circle Q&A are amazing because I know if I have a burning question I do not have to wait too long to get it answered" and "I couldn't have done it without Sarah and the Inner Circle."
Free ways in
Outside the membership, the site runs a weekly newsletter ("Join my mailing list to receive free weekly tips and insights!"), a blog, the OT Unplugged podcast with weekly episodes on OT and the NDIS, and the AT Connect webinar series.
Who it suits
The membership page lists its intended members: new grads unsure how to apply theory, early career OTs of 1 to 3 years "overwhelmed by reports, SIL/SDA, and rule changes", sole traders and contractors who want peer support, burnt-out OTs, OTs returning after a break, and team leaders looking to upskill a team. That list matches what the product does best: report writing, funding justifications and keeping up with NDIS changes, with a live Q&A every week for questions that cannot wait for supervision. Practice owners can add bespoke training for their staff, and OTs who want a single topic can buy a workshop or a template without joining. The content is built around the Australian NDIS, so an OT working outside it will get most from the masterclasses that cover general practice topics.
