What TRC Healthcare is

TRC Healthcare is a clinical education company for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and prescribers. It sells subscription products that combine clinical guidance with continuing education, chiefly Pharmacist's Letter, Pharmacy Technician's Letter and Prescriber Insights, along with the NatMed Pro reference. The home page carries the line "Trusted for 40+ Years" and says the company pairs "decades of trusted clinical expertise" with solutions for "pharmacy professionals, prescribers, and the organizations they serve", aiming at "confidence, performance, and better patient outcomes."

For a learner, the practical point is that TRC Healthcare's CE arrives inside these products rather than as a standalone course store. A pharmacist or technician subscribes to a Letter, or gets it free through an employer, and the CE library and a tracking tool come with it.

Two ways in: individual or enterprise

The home page splits buyers in two. The Individual Professional route promises "the guidance, resources and CE you need to stay confident in your practice." The Enterprise Organization route speaks to employers with "Strengthen your workforce, reduce risk, and improve patient care." The site runs a shop with a cart and account login for individual purchases, and a separate "Looking to Purchase for Your Group?" contact path for organizations buying for their staff.

The scale the company claims is printed on the home page under "Trusted at Scale. Proven in Practice.": 1M+ clinicians supported annually, 4M CE hours delivered each year, and "80% Of U.S. Pharmacists Rely on TRC Solutions."

The products, by profession

The Individual Professionals menu sorts the catalog by role:

  • Pharmacists: Pharmacist's Letter, Hospital Pharmacist's Letter and NatMed Pro.
  • Pharmacy technicians: Pharmacy Technician's Letter and Hospital Pharmacy Technician's Letter.
  • Physicians and physician assistants: Prescriber Insights with Physician CME, Prescriber Insights with PA CME and NatMed Pro.
  • Advanced practice registered nurses: Prescriber Insights with APRN CE and NatMed Pro.

The footer's product list also names NetCE alongside Pharmacist's Letter, Pharmacy Technician's Letter, Prescriber Insights and NatMed Pro.

The pharmacy Letters are described in most detail. Through employer partners, TRC Healthcare says it provides "monthly medication updates with concise, unbiased recommendations, and continuing education". The product cards on the free CE page add more. Pharmacy Technician's Letter helps technicians "Stay current on guidelines, complete required training, and easily fulfill CE requirements" and "Improve communication with pharmacists and patients, and expand your role in the pharmacy." Hospital Pharmacy Technician's Letter offers "hospital-specific advice, resources, and recommendations to prevent errors" and carries the same communication and role message for the hospital pharmacy. Pharmacist's Letter Canada is pitched with "Canadian-centered recommendations and resources" and "the answers you need to promote medication safety and adherence." Pharmacy Technician's Letter Canada covers "Canadian guidelines" and required training for Canadian technicians.

The CE library and CE Organizer

The continuing education side of each Letter has two parts. The free CE page says Pharmacist's Letter and Pharmacy Technician's Letter, "along with their acute care counterparts," offer "a CE Organizer to help you keep track of all your license requirements, and links to a rich library of CE to support all your CE renewal needs."

Each product card repeats it in the same form: "CE & Training Organizer PLUS comprehensive CE library", to "track and meet state requirements" on the US products and "track and meet provincial requirements" on the Canadian ones. That is the core of the learner experience: the subscriber reads the clinical updates, takes CE from the library, and keeps a running view of what their license still needs in their state or province. For a technician, the same organizer also covers required training.

Free CE through employers

The most valuable page for many pharmacy staff is the one headed "Free CE Credits for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians." It opens with "You may be eligible for complimentary access to Pharmacist's Letter or Pharmacy Technician's Letter," and explains that TRC Healthcare "partners with most of the top 100 retail pharmacy chains and thousands of hospitals" to provide the Letters and their CE "at no cost to their staff."

The page then gives "a short list of organizations that we work with": CVS Pharmacy, Inc., Wal-Mart, Kroger Corporate, Rite Aid, Albertsons Companies, Publix Supermarkets, Costco Wholesale, RBS, CommonSpirit, the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense. A pharmacist or technician at one of these employers is told to contact TRC Healthcare "to get your account created", and anyone whose employer is missing is invited to "reach out to find out if they provide access." The account is employer-paid, so the subscriber gets the full Letter and its CE without buying it.

A free pharmacy law course

TRC Healthcare also offers one course free to anyone who signs up. The page invites learners to "Enroll in our ACPE-accredited course, 'Ethical Considerations in Pharmacy Law,' and earn one hour of CE credit upon completion." It is "Designed for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians" and "covers ethical principles and legal standards involved in the challenging dilemmas encountered in pharmacy practice." Sign-up needs "no payment information." For a pharmacist curious about the CE format, or one who needs a law hour before renewal, it is a no-cost way to try the platform.

Buying without an employer

Pharmacy staff whose employer does not provide access are pointed to a "Don't have access? Purchase Pharmacist's Letter or Pharmacy Technician's Letter" section, with product cards linking to each Letter and its Canadian and hospital versions, and a "Shop all Solutions" link to the full store. The free CE page itself lists no subscription prices. Organizations buying for a team go through the contact form. A newsletter offers "free healthcare resources, offers, and event invitations" by email.

Who it suits

TRC Healthcare suits US and Canadian pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who want clinical updates and their CE in one subscription, and especially those at the retail chains, hospital systems and government employers on its partner list, who can get the Letters at no cost. Hospital pharmacy staff have versions written for that setting. Physicians, PAs and APRNs have Prescriber Insights with CME or CE for their role. Pharmacy employers that want to supply training and CE to staff can buy for a group. A learner who only wants single courses from an open catalog will find that, apart from the free law course, the CE here comes inside a Letter subscription.
