What Texas CE Institute is
Texas CE Institute is a small online continuing education provider for licensed beauty professionals in Texas. It sells the courses that cosmetologists, Class A barbers and cosmetology specialists need to renew a license with TDLR, the Texas agency whose licensed industries the company serves, and nothing else for now. The courses are self-paced, run online on any device, come in English and Spanish, and end with a certificate issued on completion. The company trades as Texas CE Institute LLC under TDLR CE Provider #2486, a number it prints beside every course group, and it describes itself as "a proudly Texan-owned provider dedicated to making continuing education simple, fast, and accessible for licensed professionals across Texas".
That focus is the point of the product. A stylist or barber who needs to renew does not have to search a general catalog for the right hours: the home page sorts its courses by license type and by the length of time the license has been held, and the course number for each option is printed on the page.
The courses
The core of the catalog is four courses for TX Cosmetologists, which the home page says are also "Approved for Class A Barbers & ALL Cosmetology Specialist":
- 4 Hour Course, English: Course #32292.
- 2 Hour Course, English, for those licensed 15 years or more: Course #32669.
- 4 Hour Course, Spanish: Curso #32670.
- 2 Hour Course, Spanish, "15 años o más con licencia" (licensed 15 years or more): Curso #32662.
The split follows the length of time the license has been held. The home page puts it as "a 2-hour course for licenses held 15 years or more, or a full 4-hour continuing education course", so a long-established cosmetologist buys the shorter course and everyone else the full one. The same two lengths exist in each language, so a Spanish-speaking professional is not limited to one option.
Barbers and specialists use the same courses. The TX Barber section lists 4 hour and 2 hour courses for the Class A Barber license, and the TX Cosmetology Specialties section lists 4 hour and 2 hour courses for estheticians, manicurists, eyelash extension specialists and hair weaving specialists. Both sections send the reader to the cosmetologist courses, which carry the approval for those licenses, and both repeat Provider #2486.
The Spanish courses get their own banner on the home page, "¡Cursos en Español Ya Disponibles!" (Spanish courses now available!), and the About page lists "English and Spanish course options" among the things the company says it focuses on.
How a course works
Every course is online and self-paced. The home page headline is "Listen on the go and complete your CE hours anytime, anywhere", and the course strip promises "Instant Access • Read Aloud Options • Certificate Upon Completion". In practice that means three things for a licensee. Access starts as soon as the course is bought, so there is no wait for an enrollment window. The course can be read or listened to, which the About page calls "Audio-supported courses for flexibility", so the hours can be done between clients or away from a desk. And the certificate is issued when the course is finished, which the home page repeats as "Instant Certificate Upon Completion". The site says courses can be completed "from any device".
The About page starts from a complaint many licensees will recognize: CE courses "are often treated like a checkbox", and they "shouldn't feel confusing, time-consuming, or overwhelming". It describes its own content in plain terms: "Clear, easy-to-follow content", "Real-world knowledge you can apply immediately" and "A smooth, self-paced learning experience". Its stated aim is CE that respects the professional's time: "No confusion. No wasted time. Just what you need to renew and move forward."
Approval
The company calls itself a TDLR-approved provider, and the home page states that "All available courses Meet TDLR CE Requirements". The provider number and the individual course numbers are what a licensee would match against the renewal requirements, and the site keeps a separate TDLR Info page for licensees who want to check the state side of the requirement.
Who is behind it
The About page introduces the founder and lead instructor, Tammy England, BSN, RNC-MNN, listed as a licensed cosmetologist and a registered nurse. It says the company was created "by a TDLR-licensed cosmetology professional with nearly two decades of industry experience, along with a background in business and education", who is "also a registered nurse dedicated to women's services". Because the founder is also the lead instructor, the person teaching the courses holds a TDLR cosmetology license, the same kind of license many of the learners are renewing. The page credits that mix of client services and clinical work for the company's aim: continuing education that is "clear, practical, and easy to complete… while maintaining the integrity and standards required across licensed professions."
What comes next
The current scope is narrow by design, and the company says it will widen it. "While we currently serve Cosmetology & Barber professionals, we are actively expanding into additional industries regulated by TDLR and other licensed trades across Texas," the About page says, and the home page carries a "More Professions Coming Soon!" banner. The stated long-term aim is to become "a trusted continuing education platform for multiple professions".
Buying and staying informed
Courses are bought through the Shop Courses section, and learners sign in to a student account through the Log In link. The pages show no course prices. A newsletter offers Texas license requirement updates, renewal reminders and continuing education tips by email, which helps a licensee keep track of the next renewal date. The site runs on Kajabi.
Who it suits
Texas CE Institute suits Texas cosmetologists who want their renewal hours done quickly and online, and it is the simpler choice for anyone who has held a license for 15 years or more and needs only the 2-hour course. Class A barbers, estheticians, manicurists, eyelash extension specialists and hair weaving specialists can use the same approved courses. Spanish-speaking professionals get both course lengths in Spanish, and the read-aloud option suits anyone who would rather listen than read. Professionals in other TDLR-licensed trades, or anyone who wants live classes, will need another provider for now.
