What Dental CE Academy is

Dental CE Academy is a free continuing education site for licensed dental professionals, built around webinars that run live on a monthly calendar and then stay available as on-demand recordings. It is a learner product: a dentist or hygienist picks a session, attends or watches it, completes what the course requires and claims the credit. The home page headline is "Evidence Based Continuing Education", followed by the offer "Earn 200 CE credits at no charge." The site states: "Dental CE Academy is an AGD PACE nationally approved provider of Live, On Demand Webinars, and Virtual Dental CE Symposiums." Its mission, in its own words: "Our mission is to improve patient outcomes by showcasing education."

The footer names Virtual Dontics Education LLC, with an address line of Phoenix, Arizona, and the copyright line lists Virtual Dontics, Virtual Dontics Education LLC and Virtual Dontics Innovation Partners LLC alongside Dental CE Academy. The site sets out clearly who it is for: "The use of this website is intended for licensed dental professionals for the sole purpose of continuing education and professional development." It adds that the program "may not be used for substitution, or supplementation for any college level curriculum requirements," so this is renewal education for people already in practice, not coursework for students.

The catalog

The menu splits the catalog into live webinars and on-demand webinars, with quick links for antibiotics and opioids and for infection control. The topics fall into a handful of clear groups.

Antibiotics, opioids and pharmacology. New antibiotic guidelines (listed as a 4 CEU session), antibiotic prophylaxis, an antibiotics course written for hygienists, clindamycin, Clostridium difficile, antimicrobial resistance under the heading Superbugs, opioids and pain management, and a recording on the potential benefits of CBD.

Infection control. Aerosol generation and mitigation, ten infection control strategies (listed at 1 CEU), a longer infection control course (listed at 3.5 CEU), hand hygiene, surface decontamination in dental settings, dental unit waterline safety and testing, hypochlorous acid disinfection, UVC germicidal technology, and biofilm management under the title Hostbusters.

Oral medicine. Aphthous ulcers from triggers to treatment, chemo mouth, oral mucositis management, the dry mouth dilemma and xerostomia care with molecular iodine, gel tray therapy with molecular iodine, molecular iodine in dentistry more broadly, dry socket treatment, oral HPV, tonsil stones and a session called Tongue Tells All.

Periodontics and implants. Periodontal inflammation as a disease driver, periodontitis as a destructive disease, peri-implantitis, oral irrigation advances, and two sessions on artificial intelligence in periodontal care, one on periodontal charting and one titled AI & PERIO.

Prevention and materials. Caries science and prevention, dental plaque science, "FLUORIDE FACT OR FICTION", nano-hydroxyapatite, xylitol, probiotics, oral rinses ("What's effective? Safe?") and peptides in dentistry.

The whole patient. Diabetes patient oral care, geriatric dentistry under the banner Silver Tsunami, menopause and oral health, nutrition and oral health, the oral gut brain microbiome axis, the evidence on oral health and systemic health, electronic cigarettes and a tobacco cessation training course.

Practice and safeguarding. Human trafficking, child abuse and neglect, workplace violence and post-operative care management.

That breadth is the main draw. A hygienist can cover infection control, pharmacology and a few clinical interests in one place, and a dentist can work through antibiotic stewardship or the newer material on AI charting without switching providers.

Live sessions and recordings

The live side runs on a calendar. The menu has entries for live CE today and this week, and month tabs for September, October, November and December, so a learner can plan sessions ahead. The on-demand side mirrors many of the same topics as recordings: aphthous ulcers, caries, chemo mouth, diabetes care, electronic cigarettes, fluoride, gel tray therapy, human trafficking, hypochlorous acid, infection control, molecular iodine, opioids, oral irrigation, oral mucositis, periodontal inflammation, peri-implantitis, probiotics and workplace violence all appear with "Recording" or "Recorded" in the title. Many live topics therefore have a recorded counterpart for anyone who cannot attend at the set time. The site also names virtual dental CE symposiums among its formats, and the menu carries a quiz page and a speaker page for Dr. Rajiv Saini.

Credit values appear in some titles rather than in a single table: 4 CEU for the new antibiotic guidelines session, 1 CEU for the ten infection control strategies, and 3.5 CEU for the full infection control course. The headline figure of 200 CE credits is the site's own total for what a learner can earn at no charge.

Cost and support

Everything on the site is presented as free: the page title reads "Free Dental CE Webinars Today", and the CE page is titled "Free Live Dental CE Webinars". The site publishes no paid tier.

Support is set up around credit, which is where CE learners most often need help. The menu has a CE Credit Inquiry page, the footer asks "NEED ASSISTANCE WITH CE CREDIT VERIFICATION?" and links to CE credit assistance, and there is an FAQ and a reviews page. Help comes by email and phone during "9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time M-F." The footer also links to a Code of Conduct and a Financial and Sponsorship Disclosure.

Who it suits

  • Dental hygienists who want free renewal hours in infection control, pharmacology and patient care, and who like being able to choose between a live slot and a recording.
  • General dentists who want PACE credit from a provider that lists itself as AGD PACE nationally approved, especially for antibiotic and opioid prescribing updates.
  • Practices that want a whole team to cover the same topics, such as infection control or waterline safety, without paying per person.
  • The person who runs infection control in a practice, who can work from aerosol mitigation and hand hygiene through waterline testing, surface decontamination, UVC and hypochlorous acid disinfection.
  • Hygienists who see particular patient groups, since the catalog has dedicated sessions on patients with diabetes, older patients, menopause and patients going through chemotherapy.
  • Clinicians curious about newer areas the catalog covers, from molecular iodine and nano-hydroxyapatite to AI in periodontal charting.

The site is a list of sessions rather than a structured program, so learners build their own plan from the menu, and the menu shows credit values for only some titles. It is meant for licensed professionals, so students preparing for practice will not find coursework here. For practitioners who want free, topic-by-topic CE with both live and recorded options, it covers a very wide clinical range.
