It is a learner product sold course by course, with live seminars, webinars and self-paced online programs. The home page says that "For more than 30 years, CPA Training Center has helped accounting and finance professionals build their knowledge, maintain compliance, earn certifications, prepare for the CPA, EA, and other professional exams, and advance their careers." Its address is 9715 Rod Road, Suite A, in Alpharetta, GA, and it belongs to a family of sister Training Center sites for HR, banking, financial services, insurance, mortgage, payroll, real estate and safety.
What the catalog covers
The course menu is broad, and it is organized by the job a professional actually does.
Tax. Comprehensive, individual and business income tax preparation, non-resident tax, S corporation transactions, partnership taxation, sales and use tax, a tax resolution specialist program and a tax office operations manual. The Federal Comprehensive Income Tax Course is described as one that "will enable you to prepare individual tax returns for the general public, including individual taxpayers who operate sole-proprietor businesses." The Chartered Tax Professional Certificate Program "is comprised of six 30-hour Income Tax Courses," and the page says each course "can be completed in as little as 5-10 weeks."
Financial analysis and auditing. Analyzing financial statements, personal and business statements and tax returns, business credit, EBITDA, working capital, a Certificate in Financial Reporting and Analysis that builds a financial model linking the statements to business performance, and auditing courses on standards, internal controls, risk assessment and fraud detection. A Certificate in Forensic Accounting "contains seven modules."
Payroll and benefits. Worker classification, multi-state taxation, garnishments and levies, fringe benefits, travel pay, expense reimbursements, inpat and expat payroll, executive taxation, unclaimed paychecks, payroll audits and recordkeeping. Certificate programs include the Certified Payroll Administrator, a Paycheck Fundamentals Training & Certification Program aimed at beginning and intermediate HR professionals, and a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan Training & Certification Program.
Retirement plans. Courses on 401(k), defined benefit and cash balance plans, plan loans, spousal consent, required minimum distributions and QDROs, plus wealth planning.
Productivity and AI. Excel, Word, QuickBooks and business writing, and two AI programs. The AI Essentials For Accountants Certificate Program covers "platforms like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, and NotebookLM," and the AI Applications For Accountants Certificate Program teaches the use of ChatGPT and Claude for accounting research, financial analysis and tax law interpretation.
Exam prep: CPA, EA and securities
For the test-prep reader, three tracks stand out.
CPA Exam Review. The flagship product is the Self-Study CPA Online Review Course For All Four Sections, priced at $1,739.00. It covers the AUD, FAR, REG and BEC sections and lists "Online courses that are available 24/7," "One-on-one instructor access," "Self-paced study anytime, anywhere" and "24 months of access." The package includes OnDemand video sessions available from the date of purchase, a study manual for each section "Available as a printed manual or eBook," the CPA Pro QBank with "over 1,500 practice questions and simulations" that can be built into custom exams by difficulty, length and topic, a mock exam, an interactive study calendar, an MP3 audio review, a performance tracker that compares your QBank results to your peers, and flashcards.
The course page is clear about where the materials come from: the flashcards are "Kaplan CPA Review Flashcards," and online access instructions arrive "via email from Kaplan's technical assistance team within one business day of your order." Printed materials ship by UPS, with shipping included and delivery in 3-5 business days. Candidates who prefer to work through one section at a time can buy the AUD, BEC, FAR or REG material separately. The page also states "We have helped thousands of people earn their CPA license."
Enrolled Agent and other certifications. The certifications menu lists CPA, Forensic CPA, Chartered Tax Professional, Tax Resolution Specialist, Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Payroll Manager, Certified 401(K) Administrator, Enrolled Agent and Tax Court.
Securities and insurance licensing. The site offers "securities licensing exam preparation courses for the SIE, Series 6, 7, 65, 66, and others, including the Top-Off exams," delivered "via classroom, online, and self-study formats." Insurance and mortgage licensing sit in the same Licensing menu.
Formats and how a course is delivered
The FAQ lists "online, in-person, webinars, and OnDemand courses," and says these let you "learn at your own pace or participate in instructor-led training." Individual events show the mix. The Sales & Use Tax Workshop "is available in both in-person and video conference formats," and the page adds "you simply decide which format best fits your needs!" The Multi-State Payroll Tax Compliance session is run as an audio conference. Certified Payroll Administrator courses are self-paced, so learners can "earn at your own pace without time out of the office." Seminars and webinars each have their own pages, and an email list announces new course dates.
On instructors, the FAQ says "Courses are taught by experienced CPAs, accountants, attorneys, consultants, and other industry experts." The home page lists what the company promises in return: "Practical, job-focused instruction," "Experienced instructors," "Flexible learning options," "Real-world examples" and "Immediately applicable skills." It also says "thousands of companies have used our training" and shows a partner logo strip.
Who it is for
The FAQ answers the two questions newcomers ask. On level: "CPA Training Center offers courses ranging from introductory accounting concepts to advanced technical topics." On credentials: "You do not need to be a licensed CPA to benefit from our training," and many courses suit "bookkeepers, finance professionals, business owners, payroll specialists, managers, and anyone who wants to improve their accounting knowledge."
That gives several clear fits:
- A CPA candidate who wants a self-study review with instructor access, a QBank, Kaplan flashcards and printed manuals, bought from one storefront along with other training.
- A tax preparer building toward the Chartered Tax Professional or Enrolled Agent credential, or learning to prepare individual returns from scratch.
- A payroll or HR professional who needs specific compliance training on garnishments, multi-state withholding or cafeteria plans, or a payroll designation.
- A financial services professional preparing for the SIE or a Series exam.
- A finance team that wants staff to read statements, analyze cash flow or start using AI tools responsibly.
The trade-off is that the catalog is a large menu of separate courses, each with its own registration page and format, so building a full plan means picking courses one at a time. For the CPA review, the course page says online access instructions come from Kaplan's technical assistance team, which suits a candidate who wants that program and one storefront for the rest of their training.
