What Continuing Education Company is
Continuing Education Company, Inc. (CEC) is a continuing medical education provider for primary care clinicians. Its home page describes it as "an independent, non-profit, 501 (c)(3) continuing medical education organization" that has been "developing and presenting continuing medical education programs for over 30 years," and the online courses page carries the line "Leader in Live Conference CME for Over 30 Years." It is a learner product: physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners use it to earn CME credit through in-person conferences, live webcasts of those conferences, and an on-demand online catalog called CME365. A Log In link in the header leads to the learner's account, where online courses and webcasts are taken.
The stated mission is to improve "the skills and knowledge of medical and healthcare professionals including Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Physicians, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners." The home page frames the goal in clinical terms: CME "designed to improve patient outcomes by enhancing your knowledge, competence, and performance through evidence-based in-person conferences, LIVE webcasts, and on-demand online courses."
Credits and who shapes the content
The home page says CEC accomplishes its mission "by offering American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and ABIM MOC for accredited live CME conferences and online courses." The online courses page calls its catalog "fully accredited online medical courses" that let a clinician "participate in online CME and CE on your schedule with both streaming and downloadable formats." Credit is stated per item throughout the site, so a learner can see before buying how many credits a conference, a collection or a single course carries.
Educational activities are developed with the guidance of a Curriculum Advisory Committee, led by an on-staff Medical Director and made up of "physicians, pharmacists, and educators who have extensive clinical Primary Care and Hospitalist CME conference experience." The company also stresses independence. It says its courses are free of commercial support, so that industry grants do not decide which narrow range of clinical issues and disease topics the content covers. For a clinician wary of sponsored education, that is the main point of difference the site makes.
CME365 online courses
The online side runs on CME365, which the home page describes as a "comprehensive catalog of over 600 hours of online lectures," self-paced and taken on the learner's own schedule. The catalog filters by course type (video lectures, on-demand replays and skill-based instruction), by labels such as new releases, most popular, bundles and collections, downloadable, specialty focused and free course, by number of credits, and by specialty.
The specialty list is broad for a primary care provider. It runs from allergy and clinical immunology, cardiology, critical care and dermatology through diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, endocrinology and metabolic disease, gastroenterology and hepatology, hospital, emergency and urgent care medicine, infectious disease, nephrology, neurology, obesity, oncology, opioid compliance, orthopedic and sports medicine, otolaryngology, pain management, pediatrics, pharmacology, preventive medicine, psychiatry and mental health, pulmonology, rheumatology, sleep medicine, urology and women's health, alongside family medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics and primary care.
Courses come in units of very different size. The home page shows the Premium Collection 2026 Edition at 162.25 credits, Primary Care Medicine: Volume 8.2 at 20 credits and Hospital Medicine: On Demand Vol. 4 Module 2 at 10 credits. The 2025 Collections Edition comes in three tiers: Standard at 57 credits, Deluxe at 97.5 credits and Premium at 157.75 credits. Smaller bundles exist too. The Mastering Outpatient Infectious Diseases Bundle earns 8.25 CME credits and is offered at "more than 25% OFF vs. purchasing each course individually," with no coupon code needed, so courses can also be bought one at a time. A printable course catalog PDF lists every CME365 course.
On production, the online courses page sets CEC apart from providers "who simply provide customers with slides and a voiceover" and calls its professional high definition production "unmatched in the world of medical education." The lectures come from livestream webcasts, conference replays, recorded CME events and original courses. All of them can be streamed wherever there is an internet connection, and most can be downloaded and watched on a computer, tablet or phone.
Live conferences and webcasts
Live conferences are the format the online courses page leads with, under the line "Leader in Live Conference CME for Over 30 Years," and the events are numbered annual series. The current schedule lists five, each worth 20 credits and offered both in person and as a live webcast:
- 16th Annual Primary Care Fall Conference, Ka'anapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii, October 19-23, 2026
- 17th Annual Essentials in Primary Care Fall Conference, Duck Key, Florida, in two sessions, November 2-6 and November 9-13, 2026
- 7th Annual Medical Updates in Primary Care Conference, Big Island, Kohala Coast, Hawaii, December 7-11, 2026
- 15th Annual Essentials in Primary Care Winter Conference, Naples, Florida, February 8-12, 2027
- 15th Annual Primary Care Winter Conference, Ka'anapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii, February 22-26, 2027
The site pitches these as conferences where clinicians can "Learn, Relax and Connect in Beautiful Destinations," set in beach resorts or city locations, with primary care and specialty topics presented by expert faculty. For anyone who cannot travel, the livestream webcasts carry the same conferences to any internet connection, and the site says a webcast attendee will "receive the same number of CME/CE credits as if you attended the conference in person."
Attendees quoted on the home page focus on value and speakers. Donna L., MD, a Big Island conference attendee, calls CEC "Our favorite conference company" and adds "Cost effective, great and engaging speakers, beautiful properties." Donna L. also calls it "The highlight of our year!" Caitlin H., NP, an attendee of the 11th Annual Primary Care Winter Conference, writes "Very great conference and knowledgeable speakers," adds that it was her first CME conference with the company "and I will not be going anywhere else," and describes it as "best education (all evidence-based)." E. Jaramillo, who attended the 31st Annual Primary Care Conference, says "I learned new things and met exceptional people."
Prices, support and extras
The pages print no prices for the collections, the single courses or conference registration; the one pricing term shown is the bundle discount above. Support is by phone at (800) 327 4502, with FAQ and Contact Us pages linked from the header, and a newsletter announces new conferences, online courses and discounts. The site also runs a Career Center where clinicians can search job postings, upload a resume, create job alerts and use career resources, a small extra that fits an audience of working clinicians.
Who it suits
CEC suits family physicians, internists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners in primary care and hospital medicine who want AAFP, AMA PRA Category 1 or ABIM MOC credit from a non-profit that takes no commercial support. The conferences suit clinicians who like to earn a large block of credit in one week at a resort, and the webcasts give the same 20 credits to those who stay home. The CME365 collections suit a clinician who wants many credits in one purchase, while single courses and small bundles fill a specific gap, such as outpatient infectious disease.
The caveat is focus. The mission, the advisory committee and the conference titles all center on primary care and hospital medicine, so the catalog is organized around what a generalist sees in practice, with specialty topics such as cardiology or dermatology taught from that angle.
