What it is

CE-credits.ca is an online continuing education provider for Canadian financial advisors, planners and insurance professionals. Its home page opens with "CE-credits.ca is Canada's #1 CE Provider since 2012!!" and the promise "Earn all your CE Credits in one place! Just watch the presentation videos... No quizzes!" The presenter biography on its course pages says that since 2012 Alan Hoffman and CE-credits.ca have been building continuing education that is relevant and useful inside advisors' practices, and that they offer CE through "webcasts, bundles, theme packs, and a library of over 560 presentations to learn from." Hoffman, who hosts the CIRO bundle as MC and presents the professional responsibility course, began his career in 1996 as a financial advisor with London Life.

The site is a course catalog rather than a platform for other instructors: CE-credits.ca records and sells its own presentations, given by industry speakers, and issues the CE certificates. The home page says "All presentations on CE-credits.ca are accredited by multiple governing bodies across Canada", and each course page lists the credits it carries for each body.

How earning credits works

Every course is a recorded presentation. The site says all its courses "are video-based and available on demand, allowing you to watch presentations anytime, anywhere, and on any device." The process on each course page has three steps: watch the presentation video, complete all parts of the curriculum, and click the Complete Course button at the end. There is no test at the end. The home page puts it plainly: "Your progress is tracked, so there are no quizzes to worry about." When the course is done, "your CE Certificate will be available instantly. No waiting and no need to track down your CE Certificates at renewal time."

Each course page shows the curriculum as chapters and lessons, with a presentation overview, the video and presenter resources for each talk. The CIRO bundle and the Advisor Mastery Series pages say their presentation videos include English, French, Chinese and Hindi subtitles.

The Unlimited CE Plan and bundles

The main way to buy is the 2026 Unlimited CE Plan at $369: "Earn all of the CE Credits you need for 2026 at one low price! Choose any Bundles, Theme Packs, or On Demand Webcasts. Access expires on January 1st, 2027." The home page describes it as a way to pick the bundles, theme packs and webcasts that interest an advisor, then add presentations suited to their clients and practice, "all included for one price for the entire calendar year."

Bundles are pre-set packages built around a license or designation, and buying one brings the Unlimited plan with it. The home page lists two at $369 each:

  • The 2026 CIRO Bundle (ID & MFD), sold as Part 1 of 4 and carrying 28 CE credits across the four parts. Its page says it meets "CIRO (MFD) + CIRO (ID) - Cycle 11 CE requirements (PD + Compliance)", and that buying it enrolls the advisor in the Unlimited CE Plan for the rest of the calendar year, with access to any on-demand course "at no additional charge."
  • The 2026 CLU/FSRA Bundle, also in 4 parts, carrying 30 credits and meeting CLU and FSRA requirements (ethics and IAFE).

The CIRO bundle page gives the detail. All 4 parts must be completed to earn the 28 credits, which means watching all 28 hours of video. Part 1 holds 9 chapters and 26 lessons with 7 hours of combined presentation time, and Parts 2, 3 and 4 carry 7 credits each. Across all 4 parts, the CIRO credit table gives 2 Professional Responsibility, 18 Financial Planning and 8 General credits for FP Canada; 20 Professional Development, 2 Business Conduct Ethics and 6 Business Conduct Non-Ethics credits for CIRO (MFD); 20 Professional Development and 8 Compliance credits for CIRO (ID); 28 IAFE-approved credits including 8 ethics for Advocis; 20 Professional Development and 8 Compliance for CSI; 28 FSRA-approved credits; and 25 life insurance plus 3 segregated fund credits for each of ICS and ICM. The page also notes that 2 more CIRO (MFD) MFDA compliance credits and the CIRO (ID) compliance credits have to come from another source.

Part 1's agenda shows the kind of material involved: care and financial transition planning with Marc Séguin of Advocacy in Aging, total cost reporting with Ian Kerr of Empire Life, cybersecurity for advisors with Scott Wright of Security Perspectives Inc, a retirement income strategy with Mike Liem of Empire Life, why financial plans fail with Larry Hoover of Oracle RMS, an advisor's tech stack with Wendy Brookhouse of Black Star Wealth, and bare trusts in probate and estate planning with Jim Kibble of Ontario Estate Consulting Solutions.

Single courses

Individual presentations are sold on their own as well. Professional Responsibility Applied! 2026 costs $35 and runs 2h 22m, with the first 3 minutes free to preview. It is a case-study presentation on the FP Canada Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct, built on real disciplinary cases covering conflicts of interest, confidentiality, suitability and regulatory obligations, and it supplies the 2 mandatory Professional Responsibility credits CFPs need each year. Its page lists matching credits for CIRO (MFD), CIRO (ID), Advocis, CSI, FSRA, ICS and ICM, and states "Accreditation Valid Until: July 6, 2028".

Free tools and the Advisor Mastery Series

The free Course Finder walks an advisor through the CE requirements for each license and designation they hold, then points to the courses that cover them all at once. Its lessons cover Advocis designations (CLU, CH.F.C., PFA, CHS), CIRO licenses (ID and MFD), FP Canada designations (CFP, QAFP), CSI designations (FCSI, PFP, CIM, CIWM, DFSA, MTI), the FSRA Ontario Life License, the AIC Alberta Life License and Alberta A&S License, and provincial life licenses under ICoBC, ICS and ICM.

The home page also lists key requirements and deadlines. For the MFDA license, 30 credits every 2 years, with a deadline of November 30, 2027. For the CFP, 25 credits annually with a December 31st, 2026 deadline, including 2 Professional Responsibility credits (the QAFP needs 12). For the CLU, 30 credits annually including 2 ethics and at least 15 IAFE-accredited credits (PFP and CH.F.C 20 each, CHS 10). For the FSRA Ontario life license, 30 credits every 2 years, timed to the advisor's own renewal date.

The Advisor Mastery Series, subtitled From Spark to Summit, is a free 3-phase program aimed at career growth rather than credits; its page says plainly that its purpose "is NOT to earn a CE Credit". The Advisor Foundations Program covers the knowledge, mindset and professionalism for a strong start in financial planning, along with client communication. The Advisor Elevation Program "strengthens core planning skills across investments, insurance, tax, retirement, and personal finance" and adds practice operations and risk. The Professional Advisor Mastery Program works on communication, behavioral finance and brand positioning for experienced advisors, and on estate, philanthropy and intergenerational planning.

Who it suits and who it does not

CE-credits.ca suits Canadian advisors who hold several licenses or designations at once, such as a CFP who is also CIRO-registered and holds a life license, and who want one purchase to cover most of the year's credits. The bundles are mapped to each regulator's categories, and the Unlimited plan at $369 opens the rest of the library until January 1. Advisors who dislike quizzes will appreciate the watch-and-complete model and the instant certificates.

The caveats come from the same design. Learning is by recorded presentation, so advisors who want live discussion or a classroom will not find it here. The CIRO bundle itself notes that some compliance credits must be earned elsewhere, so advisors should check the credit table on a bundle's page against their own requirements. And the catalog is built entirely around Canadian licenses and designations, which makes it a specialist tool for that market.
