Tap a star to rate
SimpleNursing is a study platform for nursing students, covering both the classes of nursing school and the NCLEX licensing exam for registered and practical nurses. It is built around animated lecture videos, study guides and practice questions, much of it taught by Nurse Mike, whose name runs through the testimonials and the NCLEX lecture series. The home page claims 1M+ students helped, 1,400+ universities represented and a 4.8 Trustpilot rating, and the NCLEX practice questions page says the company has served over 1 million nurses since 2012.
How the study system works
The home page describes one connected system in three steps: learn with videos, reinforce with guides, and test what you know. The videos break topics down to what matters for the exam, with visual mnemonics; the guides and cheat sheets condense each topic; and practice exams with NCLEX-style questions show what to review. The company claims the system cuts study time by 60%.
The nursing school content is organized by subject, and each topic is tagged with when it shows up in a program (Pre-Nursing, Year 1, Year 2 or NCLEX). The subjects are Pharmacology, Med Surg, Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Fundamentals, Health Assessment, Maternity, Pediatrics, Critical Care, Mental Health, Medication Calculation, and Clinical Skills. Each has its own angle. Pharmacology teaches drugs by class ("Stop memorizing 500 drugs. Learn 30 classes."), Fundamentals covers prioritization frameworks such as ABCs and Maslow, Maternity decodes fetal monitoring with VEAL CHOP, Medication Calculation drills conversions, IV rates and weight-based dosing, and Clinical Skills offers step-by-step demos to rewatch before checkoffs.
The Nursing School Pass includes 1,200+ animated lecture videos, 1,000+ digital study guides, 4,000+ course questions with rationales, an Exit Exam and HESI Prep Series of 50+ masterclass-style videos, live nursing school webinars with Nurse Mike and the team, and 30% off printed study-guide bundles. The site says its course questions are educator-built and linked to the matching videos and guides, and each rationale explains why the right option is right and the others are not.
Rubi AI tools
Two tools sit on top of the library under the Rubi AI name, and both are free with every membership. Rubi Match takes a student's own lecture slides, syllabus or notes and matches them to the SimpleNursing videos, study guides and quizzes for that class, opening each video at the timestamp where the topic is covered. Rubi Tutor answers questions in a different format on request, such as an analogy or a mnemonic, gives feedback when a student types out an explanation, and checks dosage calculation work. The site stresses that answers point to its own expert-vetted content, "never a generated summary."
NCLEX prep
Boards Mode splits into two separate products. NCLEX-RN prep is built on the RN test plan and includes 4,500+ NCLEX questions with rationales, 1,400+ NGN questions, real-world NGN case studies, adaptive (CAT) practice tests that mirror the real exam, 6 readiness assessments with pass prediction, the NCLEX Review Lecture Series with Nurse Mike (described as a 26-hour crash course), and live NCLEX cram sessions. NCLEX-PN prep follows the PN test plan with 3,800+ NCLEX-PN questions, 975+ NGN NCLEX-PN questions, the same lecture series, CAT practice tests and 6 PN readiness assessments. The site says its NCLEX questions are written by actual NCLEX item writers and every rationale is reviewed by a nurse educator before it goes live. The higher plans add an adaptive study plan built from a short test and sized to the hours a student has, plus priority support.
Plans and prices
The pricing section lists every plan:
- Nursing School Pass: $20 a month billed monthly; $17.50 a month on the semester plan, with $105 billed every 6 months and auto-renewal; or $15 a month on the annual plan, with $180 billed once a year and no auto-renewal. The content is the same on all three.
- NCLEX-RN Prep and NCLEX-PN Prep: $60 a month billed monthly, or a 90-Day Pass at $139 one-time with no auto-renewal.
- NCLEX-RN Pass Guarantee: $189 one-time for 90 days of NCLEX-RN access, extended free until the student passes. It also includes a 1-year Nursing Career Passport membership from Elite Learning, which the site calls part of the same family of brands as SimpleNursing.
- Full Journey Pass: $312 one-time for Nursing School plus NCLEX-RN with the Pass Guarantee, including 24 months of access, extendable at no extra cost until the student passes, and a free study guide or flashcard set.
The mobile app for iOS and Android is included in every plan and syncs progress with the web. One-time purchases such as the Full Journey Pass and 90-Day Pass can be paid in installments through Shop Pay; monthly subscriptions cannot. A Nursing School member can upgrade to the Full Journey Pass from the Upgrade tab.
The free trial is a 5-day limited access pass with no credit card required, enough to watch lessons, open study guides and try practice questions. The refund policy allows non-subscription memberships to be refunded within 48 hours of purchase, minus a 10% processing fee (minimum $10, maximum $25); after that they are non-refundable and non-transferable, and monthly subscription payments are not refundable. Monthly plans are canceled from Settings, or from the device settings for subscriptions bought through Apple.
On results, the FAQ explains that every student who buys a membership is surveyed, and interviewed when possible, and that "99% of students who respond to our correspondence pass." The figure is therefore a survey of respondents, and the site points readers to its Trustpilot profile for verified feedback.
Free resources and extras
Outside the paid plans, the site offers a free 75 question NCLEX practice exam and free practice questions by NCLEX topic, from dosage calculations and lab values to pharmacology classes, each with an overview, study tips and answers. Its store sells three study guide books and Pharmacology and Med Surg flashcard sets, and the menu adds TEAS prep, a New Grad Program, Nurse Mike's MemoryMusic, a podcast and a page for nursing instructors.
Who it suits and who it does not
SimpleNursing fits nursing students who learn best from short visual videos and want help that follows their program year by year, from pre-nursing anatomy to med surg and the exit exam. Rubi Match suits students who want their own professor's slides mapped to the matching lessons. New graduates heading into the NCLEX can buy RN or PN prep on its own, and students with a booked test date who fear paying twice have the Pass Guarantee. Students who plan to stay from the first semester to licensure get the most from the Full Journey Pass.
Two points to weigh: the 99% pass figure covers only students who answer the company's survey, and refunds on one-time passes close after 48 hours, so the 5-day trial is the time to decide.
