What BoostPrep is

BoostPrep is an online test-prep company that sells self-study courses for admission, licensing and certification exams, with a strong lean toward nursing and healthcare. Its About page says the platform "came into being in 2016" with the mission "to help students prep for their exams without breaking the bank," and that "Our main goal is to provide affordable education resources for EVERYONE." The home page sums up the pitch as "Realistic Exams. Guaranteed Results."

The exam list is long. On the healthcare side it covers the TEAS, the HESI A2, the Kaplan Nursing Admissions Test (KNAT), NLN NEX and NLN PAX, the NCLEX, CNA, medical assistant exams (CMA and CCMA), NCE, the NREMT EMT and paramedic exams, phlebotomy and the PTCE. Beyond healthcare it prepares students for the GED, ASVAB, ALEKS, math placement, TSI math, CCAT and Wonderlic. The site states that BoostPrep is an independent provider, not affiliated with or endorsed by any exam administrator.

How the courses work

The product pages show the model: a one-time payment rather than a subscription, instant online access after purchase, and a fixed access window. The FAQ on each product page is explicit: "we will never charge you again after you make your initial purchase (unless you manually renew your course)." When the window ends, the course simply expires, and there is nothing to cancel.

The GED and EMT courses come in two tiers. The Core package is practice only, for students who just want full-length exams and question banks. The Pro package adds the full prep course: learning modules with notes and examples, a diagnostic exam, flashcards, a custom exam builder that turns the question bank into targeted practice tests, and custom study schedules. The full-length exams are timed and, the company says, built to mimic the real exam in question style, topics, difficulty and length, and every full-length exam can be retaken as often as the student likes. Each question carries a detailed answer explanation, which reviewers single out: one says "they go through every answer to explain why you're answer is wrong."

The GED and EMT product pages show how this plays out in practice:

  • GED Prep: Core costs $24.99 for 180 days with 16 full-length exams (4 per subject) across GED math, science, reading language arts and social studies. Pro costs $39.99 for 180 days and adds a diagnostic exam, 100+ learning modules, 650+ flashcards, 900+ practice questions and study schedules. The page reports 7,183+ satisfied GED users and says the course is checked against the actual exam every couple of months.
  • EMT Prep: Core costs $24.99 for 6 months with 5 full-length practice exams, subject-specific question banks and 925+ practice questions. Pro costs $34.99 for 6 months with 10 full-length exams, 1,475+ practice questions, the custom exam builder, a BP Confidence Score, 50+ learning modules, 580+ flashcards, a diagnostic exam and custom study schedules. The page says it was built with the help of an expert EMT instructor and updated for the new version of the EMT exam that took effect on 4/7/2025.

TEAS and HESI prep for nursing school

For pre-nursing students, BoostPrep starts with free tools. The TEAS page offers a free 32-question diagnostic test that takes about 30 minutes and a free full-length 170-question practice test. Both cover all 4 sections of the ATI TEAS 7 and return an instant score report that breaks results down by subject, with answer explanations below it. The full-length test can be taken as many times as a student likes. The page explains the real exam too: 170 questions, of which 150 are scored and 20 are unscored, 209 minutes in total, with 57 minutes for math, 60 for science, 55 for reading and 37 for English, and a calculator provided at the test. It recommends aiming for 80% or higher on BoostPrep's practice exams, since each school sets its own passing score.

The paid TEAS course adds 28 full-length exams, 2,400+ questions, a complete prep course with video lessons, flashcards, the custom exam builder and a readiness indicator.

The HESI A2 page works the same way. A free HESI A2 practice test covers the core sections most schools require (math, reading, vocab and grammar), and separate free section tests cover the optional subjects some programs add: anatomy and physiology, chemistry, biology and physics. The HESI prep course is sold as three programs, HESI 7-Day, 60-Day and 180-Day, which the FAQ says offer the same features and differ only in study time. Each includes 2,000+ practice questions, 1,250+ flashcards, 24 full-length exams (3 per subject) and 200+ learning modules. The page also gives the exam's own facts: about 300 questions over 8 subject tests, a calculator provided, a typical exam fee of around $50 (most schools between $35 and $65), up to 6 attempts, and the common school standard of a 75% composite score with 70% per subject.

Who writes the material

The About page names the subject experts behind the courses. Denise Lessow, the HESI, TEAS and NLN PAX expert who authors the TEAS and HESI pages, has been helping students study for 25+ years. Sabrina Navarro, a women's health nurse practitioner and registered nurse, develops and reviews NCLEX-RN and Next Generation NCLEX content. Krista Wenz has been a licensed paramedic for more than 34 years and teaches EMT and paramedic students. Registered nurses Tabitha Cumpian, Patricia Bratianu and Valerie Smith cover medical assistant, CNA and nursing content, and Molly Meehl, a licensed mathematics educator with 10+ years of experience, covers math. The company also says all courses are continuously updated to reflect changes to the actual exams.

Guarantees and support

Two guarantees come with the courses. The 7-day risk-free period lets a student try a course and request a refund within 7 days for any reason. The 100% pass guarantee refunds the full purchase price if the student fails the real exam, provided they contact BoostPrep within 30 days of the exam, scored 80%+ on all the exams in the course, and send a screenshot or PDF of the official score report. The FAQ says fewer than 1.8% of students end up needing it.

The EMT page claims BoostPrep has helped 100,000+ students pass their exams. Support runs through a contact page, FAQs, published refund and pass guarantee policies, and social accounts on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Institutions can buy through a separate institutional sales program, and the About page says BoostPrep has partnered with various institutions. One reviewer writes that "customer support went above and beyond for me."

Who it suits

BoostPrep suits students who want a self-study course they can pay for once and finish within a set window: a pre-nursing applicant facing the TEAS or HESI A2, a nursing student working toward the NCLEX, an EMT candidate, or an adult returning to sit the GED. The free TEAS and HESI tests give a real baseline before spending anything, the Core tiers are cheap for students who only need practice exams, and the Pro tiers carry the modules and study schedules for those starting from scratch. The 7-day risk-free window and the pass guarantee lower the stakes, as long as the student meets the 80% condition.

It is built for students who learn from practice questions and written explanations. The courses are self-paced and the access windows are fixed, so a student who needs longer than the package allows will have to renew it by hand.
