Tap a star to rate

Constructor Tech builds an integrated platform for education and research made of eight apps that share accounts, data and analytics. This listing is about its proctoring app, Constructor Proctor, which the product page describes as "Fair, AI-assisted exam monitoring that protects integrity without disrupting the test-taker experience." Proctor covers online, hybrid and in-person exams for universities, certification bodies and enterprises, and the page sums up its range as "ten or ten thousand candidates." The product page footer names the company as Constructor Technology AG, with an address in Schaffhausen.

The headline figures on the product page are 10,000+ simultaneous exam sessions supported, a 1:150 live proctor-to-candidate ratio, 30+ LMS integrations (or standalone use), and "90% accuracy in detecting violations."

How an exam runs

The product page sets out six steps. You create the assessment by linking an exam from your LMS or building it in Constructor Assess, then choose proctoring settings. Candidates go through a guided system check before exam day. On the day, face matching and ID checks confirm the right person is in the seat. AI then flags possible integrity issues in real time across 100+ parameters, a human reviewer confirms or dismisses each flag, and you download integrity reports with video evidence for committees and audits.

The AI analysis covers face and voice detection, gaze tracking, device detection and noise analysis, "tuned to keep false alerts low." The principle the company repeats throughout is that the software flags and people decide: "No candidate is judged by an algorithm alone." According to the FAQ, Constructor does not decide integrity outcomes for the customer; the institution's own reviewers do, and live proctor services can be arranged through local partners where needed. The comparison table on the page adds that human confirmation of AI flags is required by law in Germany and has been tested by regulators in Italy.

Three levels of oversight

Institutions choose how much human attention each exam gets:

  • AI review, fully automated monitoring that scales on demand, which the page rates best for scalable, on-demand monitoring.
  • Post-exam review, where AI monitors the session and a reviewer you designate examines the recording and confirms findings, recommended for high-stakes exams.
  • Live review, where your proctors watch sessions in real time, up to 150 candidates each, through a dispatching interface that queues and prioritizes sessions with AI assistance.

During the exam, chat and audio-video channels connect proctors and candidates, and a support chatbot answers technical and organizational questions at any hour, which the page says cuts ticket volume before exams.

Tools for the exam room

Constructor's own Secure Browser locks down the test machine, blocks restricted apps and overlays, and allows only listed resources. It runs on Windows and macOS, detects virtual machines automatically, and is also available on its own with a no-video option, so an exam can run in lockdown-only mode with no webcam. Candidates can add their phone as a side-view camera in seconds, which the page says closes the off-screen blind spot without extra hardware. A mobile app runs proctored exams on smartphones and tablets for programs where a desktop is not a given. Proctor also runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.

Accommodations are built in: extra time, modified checks and accessible flows can be set per candidate, and the page lists WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility "by design rather than exception." Session analytics produce integrity reports with video evidence, risk scores and event timelines that can be exported.

Integrations and deployment

Proctor connects to Canvas, Moodle (through a dedicated plugin, Moodle 5 ready), Blackboard / Anthology and D2L Brightspace, and to 30+ LMS platforms through an LTI adapter, or runs standalone with Constructor Assess. Developers get an open API and SDK scenarios in the Secure Browser. Deployment can be cloud, private cloud, on-premise or fully air-gapped, with regional hosting in the EU, the Middle East, Türkiye, Brazil and Asia.

Compliance

The compliance section lists GDPR with a Data Processing Agreement, ISO 27001, FERPA, WCAG 2.2 AA, COPPA and SOPIPA for younger learners, EU AI Act practices, and readiness for KVKK, LGPD and PDPA. On ethics, it promises demographic-blind flagging and regular bias audits. The FAQ says Proctor collects only the minimum data each exam scenario needs, with clear consent from test-takers. For certification bodies, the page mentions meeting standards like ISO 17024.

The suite that comes with it

Proctor is not sold as a lone tool. The product page says: "Buy Proctor, and the whole suite comes with it. Proctor never arrives alone." The included suite covers a learning platform to deliver courses, track completion and issue certificates; assessment, question banks and grading; live classes and group collaboration; hands-on practice and virtual labs; course authoring; and scheduling. The page says the suite is free from day one, with any part upgradable to an Advanced tier.

The homepage describes the individual apps. Assess designs, delivers and grades assessments, with AI grading for STEM, non-STEM and handwritten answers, auto-generated quizzes and adaptive exams. Learn handles onboarding, certification and continuous training with AI personalization, AI tutoring and spaced repetition. Prism is the authoring app, with prompt-based AI content generation and collaborative editing with version control. Practice provides coding environments, simulations and virtual science labs; Groups covers video and audio conferencing and team messaging; Research supports simulations and ML modeling; and Schedule automates timetabling. All eight share single sign-on, analytics, LTI and REST APIs and AI Knowledge Models.

Customer results

The case studies on the page are concrete. Constructor University Bremen, in three years, went from 1 online program to 6, from 5 modules to 74, and from 14 online exams per term to 87 fully proctored degree assessments, totaling 10,862 online exam sessions. TechNet reports 80,000+ exams and 70% faster results; SEGEM moved paper exams for over 50,000 candidates onto Proctor; Ivalua detected violations across 800+ certification assessments; and the Irish Aviation Authority uses Proctor and Assess for UAS pilot-training assessments across the EU.

Pricing and who it suits

According to the FAQ, "Pricing is volume-based, per exam or per user," and quotes are tailored to exam volume and region. The page offers a demo and a "Try for free" option, and runs a partner program for resellers and integrators.

Constructor Proctor suits universities, certification bodies, ministries and corporate training teams running high-stakes exams at volume, especially those that need on-premise or regional hosting, or want their own staff to make every integrity decision. The bundled suite is a real bonus for an institution that also wants an LMS, authoring or assessment tools from one vendor. The trade-off is scale: it is built for programs with thousands of candidates, so a teacher running one quiz will find far more platform than they need.
