What it is

Skillcast is a cloud-based compliance training platform for organizations, built for the L&D and compliance teams that have to train staff on regulation and then prove it to boards and regulators. The company's blog describes it as UK-based with a head office in London, and its home page says over 1,500 organizations trust its 25 years' experience (the blog puts it at "nearly 25 years"). The offer combines three things that are often bought separately: a library of more than 600 courses that Skillcast creates and owns, a learning management system with automated reporting, and a Compliance Portal that holds policies, attestations, declarations and registers alongside the training. An AI assistant called Aida sits on top. The home page frames the whole product around one question for the buyer: "Can you prove your people understood, acted and complied?" Completion, it argues, is a metric, while compliance is a result proven in practice.

What a user actually gets

The course library is the starting point. The home page counts over 600 dedicated courses for regulated sectors and core business risks, and the blog says more than five million employees have been trained on them. Topics named across the pages include bribery prevention, cybersecurity, data protection (GDPR), DEI, DORA, ESG, the Employment Rights Act, failure to prevent fraud, the FCA Handbook, financial crime, fraud prevention, health and safety, insurance, preventing harassment, risk management, whistleblowing and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). The courses are grouped into libraries: Compliance Essentials, EU Compliance, FCA Compliance, Global Compliance, Insurance Compliance, Microlearning, Risk Management and SMCR. The industries Skillcast lists as its own are financial services, insurance, legal, the public sector, charities, hospitality, retail and small business, and a course library update log tracks changes to the content.

Formats vary. The blog lists microlearning, in-depth courses, refreshers and FastTrack training, a shorter version of a course for learners who already know the subject, and says courses can be tailored to a learner's experience level. Adaptive learning, reminders, videos, nudges and downloadable guides are also named as ways to keep completion up without wearing staff out. Customers can go further than the stock library: an operations consultant at Evolin Broking says on the home page that she reviews and customizes all content before assigning it, and that Skillcast even gives her team the ability to build a course from scratch. For training that has to be written from the ground up, Skillcast also sells bespoke courses.

On the administration side, the built-in LMS assigns training, tracks progress and keeps an audit trail. The blog's FAQ says compliance officers get real-time updates on completion rates, pass rates and overdue training, that the LMS automates training assignments, tracks certification status and issues renewal reminders, and that customizable reports let managers monitor completion by team, location or role. A learning designer at Commercial Express credits the Training360 module with replacing CPD tracking and reporting that had been largely manual.

The Compliance Portal is what takes Skillcast past a course catalog. The home page describes one controlled environment for learning, policies, attestations, declarations and registers, with one view of risk, activity, assurance and evidence. The product menu lists the pieces separately: LMS, Policy Hub, Training360, Events Management System, Compliance Declarations, Compliance Surveys, Compliance Registers and Skillcast Academy. The idea is that a compliance officer can show a regulator both that a course was completed and that the related policy was read and attested.

Aida is the AI layer. The home page calls it "the AI-powered compliance engine built on decades of regulatory expertise and trust" and says it brings policy guidance and training support together, so a firm can combine Skillcast's content with its own policies and procedures. The blog describes Aida as a conversational digital assistant that learners can ask for guidance on compliance and company policies.

For connections, the blog says the platform can be integrated with HR software, Salesforce and messaging platforms. Skillcast Remote Services lets teams deliver third-party training courses and remote e-learning programs, and the plans menu presents it as a way to get deeper compliance insights and reporting from an LMS a company already runs.

Plans, security and support

The blog lists the ways to buy: Skillcast Standard, Skillcast Enhanced, Skillcast Premium, Core Compliance for small businesses, Skillcast Remote Services, and bespoke compliance training. The plans menu sums up the three main tiers: Standard to "engage staff, customise with ease, and stay regulator-ready", Enhanced to save time, close knowledge gaps and cut compliance costs, and Premium to strengthen oversight, reduce risk and drive outcomes at scale. The blog's advice is that a firm which does not need every feature can choose Standard and avoid paying for features it will not use. The pages print no price for any tier. Skillcast does offer a free trial, an interactive online demo, and free compliance resources including guides, toolkits, training modules and games.

On security, the home page states the platform is accredited to SOC 2, Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001 standards, and the blog adds Cyber Essentials. On course accreditation, the blog says many of the courses are accredited by institutes such as CPD UK, RoSPA and IIRSM, and the home page calls the FCA courses CPD-accredited. Neither page says every course carries accreditation, so a buyer who needs CPD hours should check the specific titles. Support follows a managed-service model, with a dedicated service manager and a customer success manager assigned to each customer, according to the blog.

The review signals and results come from the company itself. The blog cites a 4.9 out of 5 rating on Feefo and a Platinum Trusted Service Award won six years in a row. Named customers on the blog include Royal Mail, Barclays, Tesco and Puma. Case studies on the home page report a 99.6% completion rate and 2,700 hours reclaimed at Zempler Bank with FastTrack, over 11,000 staff trained in anti-bribery at EDF, a three-day cut in reporting time at Commercial Express, and a course at ABF rated 4 out of 5 by 82% of learners. The blog's Aviva study describes an insurer that delivered nine compliance topics a year at administration costs of around £7.75m, and moved them into a single centralized learning module with assessments, which simplified audience management and reporting.

The topic pages explain the stakes with figures Skillcast uses in its own marketing: a single GDPR breach could cost €20 million or 4% of global turnover, UK firms spend £28.7 billion a year meeting compliance obligations, and anti-money laundering failures cost UK firms an average of £186.5 million a year.

Who it suits and who it does not

Skillcast fits UK organizations in regulated sectors, above all financial services and insurance, where staff training is mandatory and a regulator will ask for evidence. A firm subject to SMCR and the FCA Handbook gets content written for those regimes, CPD-accredited FCA courses, and reporting built to show who completed what and when. A compliance team that today keeps policies, declarations and registers in spreadsheets beside a separate LMS gains the most from the Compliance Portal, because the evidence ends up in one place. Smaller businesses have their own route in through Core Compliance, and charities, law firms, the public sector, hospitality and retail each have dedicated pages.

There are caveats, and Skillcast's own comparison table names two of them: it offers no additional services such as whistleblowing management, and full-featured plans may be more than a smaller business needs. The content is written with UK regulation in mind, such as UK GDPR, so a firm whose obligations sit mainly elsewhere should look closely at the EU Compliance and Global Compliance libraries before committing. Because no prices are published, budgeting starts with a call or the free trial.
