What CoachBase is

CoachBase is an online coaching platform with two sides: a directory where individuals search for and book professional coaches, and a program service for companies, corporations and education institutions that want coaching for their people. Its FAQ describes it as a coaching platform "that facilitates the online searching and booking of Coaches who can offer their services to clients all over the world" in executive, business, career, life and mental wellness coaching. The contact address on the site is in Suntec Tower One in Singapore, support hours are given in Singapore time, and the company says it was founded by three former Accenture consultants with a mission to make professional coaching accessible to all employees, from C-suite executives to managers. The site itself runs in English, Spanish, French and Chinese.

Within this directory it belongs with the coaching platforms rather than the course builders. There is no course authoring here: what a client buys, and what a coach sells, is coaching time. The homepage describes the platform as AI-powered and data-driven, with human coaches at the center. That coach network is the core of the product. The coaching-for-managers page counts 1,600+ certified coaches, all ICF, EMCC or AC accredited, present in 65 countries and speaking more than 50 languages, and it reports an average coach rating of 4.9/5 and a Net Promoter Score of 9.83/10. The homepage puts participant satisfaction at 97%.

Booking a coach as an individual

Individuals do not need an account. You answer a few questions, a matching algorithm proposes coaches, and you book through the site; the FAQ says most people find and book a coach in less than five minutes. The homepage offers a free 30-minute introductory session so you can meet a coach before committing, after which you schedule regular sessions. On pricing it says "we offer a variety of pricing and options, including ad hoc sessions and packages."

Sessions run online by video or audio, and the client picks the channel during booking: Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, WhatsApp or WeChat, or another arrangement agreed with the coach. After booking you have direct email access to the coach and a booking link to add to your calendar, and CoachBase support is reachable by chat and email. Payment is taken upfront through Stripe; the platform holds it and releases it to the coach once the session has taken place.

Coaches carry one of four levels, and the FAQ ties each one to an ICF credential or an equivalent from an internationally recognized body:

  • Trainee Coach: in, or recently out of, coach training recognized by the ICF or an equivalent organization, and looking for practice before working as a professional.
  • Associate Coach: ICF ACC level, which the FAQ glosses as 100 to 500 hours of coaching practice.
  • Advanced Coach: ICF PCC level, 500 to 2,500 hours.
  • Master Coach: ICF MCC level, more than 2,500 hours.

The FAQ adds a useful caution. A level reflects a coaching certification held now or in the past, not overall career experience, and some Associate Coaches have been CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. If the choice is hard, the team offers to help you pick.

The trainee tier is the cheapest way in. The FAQ prices it at USD 130 for 4 sessions or USD 200 for 8 sessions, each lasting 60 minutes, and by choosing it the client agrees to be coached by a trainee or junior coach.

The topics for individuals are listed in some detail. Leadership coaching covers board strategy, decision making, change management and resolving conflicts. Career coaching covers personal branding, promotion and salary negotiation, and career transition with CV review and interview preparation. Business coaching takes in business plans, sales and marketing goals and day-to-day management problems. Life coaching deals with purpose, life planning and confidence; relationships and family coaching with partners, children and grief; and wellness coaching with sleep, weight loss, healthy aging and living with disease or disability.

Coaching programs for organizations

For employers, CoachBase builds programs case by case. The homepage names three ways to engage, "SaaS, standalone, or work with CoachBase Coaches", and adds that onsite options are available. The process runs from defining objectives and success metrics, through coach selection, participant onboarding, internal marketing and reporting, to measuring participants' progress and what CoachBase calls Return on Expectations, using adoption rates, self-assessment tools, surveys and regular check-ins with management. Organizations follow progress on a dashboard, and the platform includes a 360 feedback tool and integrates with third-party behavioral psychometrics. The homepage promises dedicated 24/7 support from matching participants with coaches through managing the program.

Delivery formats are 1:1 coaching online and in person, group coaching, team coaching and corporate training. The program areas named are leadership coaching (1:1 CXO coaching, leadership team coaching, succession planning), coaching for high potentials, coaching for managers, coaching for employees, team coaching, projects and transformation, workplace wellness, and diversity, equity and inclusion, which covers women's leadership, parents returning to work and coaching of minorities. CoachBase also trains employees as coaches and supplies software for internal coaching initiatives; the FAQ describes this as coaching and mentoring technology with private access for the company and its employees.

The case studies page lists 15 programs. Among them are a 6-month leadership program for millennial leaders across Africa, 1:1 and team coaching for a listed shipping company operating in the UK, the Philippines and Cyprus, executive coaching for UAE senior leaders across 28 countries, leadership coaching for a Saudi-based energy transition firm working in 14 countries, and an ICF train-the-trainer coaching program for a Tier 1 Swiss bank in Europe and Asia. Organizations can book a free demo.

For coaches: listing, fees and payouts

Coaches register, submit their credentials, and may be interviewed by video call before approval, which the FAQ says can take anywhere from a few hours to a few months depending on client needs. Someone currently enrolled in a recognized coach training program can offer sessions as a Trainee Coach after naming the institution and sending proof of enrollment, then switch the trainee option on in their profile.

To get paid, a coach connects a Stripe account, or enters details for manual bank transfer or payment through wise.com, where bank or Wise commission may apply. Payouts reach the coach's bank account 10 business days after the session. On sessions booked through the directory search, which the FAQ calls direct leads, CoachBase takes a 30% commission from the coach, separate from the service charge the client pays. Referrals into organizational programs come under a separate contract. Coaches get a dashboard with an overview of their bookings, average peer pricing benchmarking, client analytics and client feedback that only they can see, and the company says it promotes the site through SEO, Google, social media and online events and may publish a coach's articles or videos on social channels at no extra cost.

Registered coaches can also join peer-to-peer coaching series. CoachBase matches each coach with one peer client and one peer coach by language, availability, domain and experience, and a series is 4 weekly 60-minute sessions as the client and 4 as the coach. The FAQ notes that a plan is required for the peer coaching service.

Prices, fees and policies

Using CoachBase as a client is free apart from paying the coach and a small service charge on sessions booked through the directory. The site publishes no rates for Associate, Advanced or Master coaches, and organizational programs are arranged after contact.

Cancellation terms are spelled out in the FAQ. Clients can reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before a session, and a cancellation in that window is refunded in full minus the service charge of 3.99% + 0.5 cents. Rescheduling or canceling within 24 hours keeps 25% of the payment, a missed session is charged at the full rate, and non-cancellable packages can only be rescheduled within 120 days. For the free introductory session, a fee of 10 USD applies to cancellations or rescheduling within two hours and to no-shows. A client who is unhappy with a coach can send feedback through the form emailed after each session, or report the issue to CoachBase with evidence such as screenshots so the team can resolve it. The coach FAQ gives support hours of Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Singapore time, with replies within 48 hours.

Who it suits

CoachBase suits an individual who wants a credentialed coach without searching through separate coaching websites, and the free introductory session plus the trainee package keep the cost of a first try low. It fits an HR or L&D team that wants coaching run as a managed program across countries and languages, with reporting, 360 feedback, psychometrics and the option to build internal coaching capacity. For coaches it is a marketplace with a 30% commission on direct leads, Stripe payouts and a peer coaching community, which helps someone growing a practice more than a coach with a full client list. It is built around live coaching sessions rather than courses, so a creator who wants to sell recorded programs will need another tool.
