What it is

Wharton Executive Education is the executive and professional education unit of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Its home page introduces it as "Your Partner in Progress" and says Wharton helps leaders "turn insight into action" through practical learning. The programs, in the school's words, "combine academic rigor and real-world relevance to inspire performance, spark innovation, and create lasting impact for individuals and organizations around the world."

The offer splits three ways on the home page. Programs for Individuals are described as "Programs for executives at all professional levels, delivered across a range of topics and formats," both on campus and online. Programs for Organizations are "Customized Learning Solutions" that develop an organization's talent with programming designed around its business goals. Online Learning is billed as "Wharton excellence delivered for the modern-day leader," in live online, self-paced or blended form. Executive education sits within a school that also runs undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, doctoral and Jacobs MSQF programs plus Wharton Online, with locations in Philadelphia, San Francisco and Beijing. That makes this unit relevant to two readers: a manager or senior leader choosing a program for themselves, and an HR or L&D team buying leadership development for a group.

Topics

Open-enrollment programs are grouped into six topic areas:

  • Comprehensive Executive Programs;
  • AI and Analytics;
  • Leadership and Management;
  • Finance and Wealth Management;
  • Strategy and Innovation;
  • Marketing.

A seventh menu entry, Partnership Programs, sits alongside these. The finance area links to the school's Wharton Wealth Management Initiative, which publishes its own thought leadership on topics such as active versus passive investing and asset allocation.

Formats

Every program is tagged with one of four formats:

  • In Person, on campus;
  • Live Online (Virtual);
  • Self-Paced Online;
  • Blended, which combines online and in-person study ("Online + On Campus" in the program finder).

The online learning section says its offer is driven by Wharton faculty and their research, supported by current technology, and that Wharton offers a broad portfolio of live online and self-paced programs "for immediate business impact." Those options are listed under the names Wharton Live Online and Self-Paced Online Programs, with a separate Online Learning for Organizations route for companies.

Finding a program

The program finder filters by topic, by start date (0 to 3 months from now, 3 to 6 months from now, or 6+ months from now) and by format. Visitors can also view the full program schedule, download a calendar, or download the Wharton Executive Education Catalog as a PDF. The Get Started menu adds a "Become a Wharton Alum" link, and the site lists Alumni Benefits and Lifelong Learning pages for participants who go on to alumni status.

The flagship: Advanced Management Program

The program in the spotlight on the home page is the Advanced Management Program, running Sep. 27 to Oct. 30, 2026, in Philadelphia, PA, and tagged with Alumni Status. Wharton calls it its "flagship leadership program," a "transformational and immersive program for senior executives who are at the peak of their careers." The description continues: "This intellectually rigorous and highly experiential program will define you as a leader and strengthen your strategic prowess." It is an in-person program in Philadelphia, aimed at senior leaders rather than early-career managers.

Programs for organizations

For companies, the Programs for Organizations menu covers Our Approach, The Learning Experience, Wharton Expertise, Online Learning for Organizations, Our Clients, Group Enrollment and Executive Coaching. The custom offer is described this way: "As your partner, we'll work together to design a program specifically for your executive learners, wherever they are, with content grounded in your organization's strategy." Organizations can submit a Custom Program Inquiry or download a custom brochure, and the home page invites anyone with questions to contact the Client Relations team.

Group Enrollment and Executive Coaching are listed as separate services. Together with custom programs and online learning for organizations, that gives an L&D team several routes into Wharton, from a program built around its own strategy to coaching for individual leaders.

Thought leadership and newsletter

Wharton Executive Education publishes a good deal of free material. The Thought Leadership section includes Wharton@Work, Wharton Online Insights, the Wharton Wealth Management Initiative, Wharton School Press and the school's research centers, and visitors can subscribe to the Wharton@Work newsletter or read the current issue.

The Wharton Online Insights article "What Is Omnichannel Marketing?" shows the style. It explains the difference between omnichannel marketing, which focuses on the customer, and multichannel marketing, which builds a separate channel per platform, then works through brand strategy, individual campaigns and the customer journey. It closes with six practical tips: create buyer personas, consider buyer platform usage, establish brand guidelines, consider customer pain points and behaviors, connect to an analytics platform, and provide customer service across channels. Along the way it gives a worked example: a brand launching a product teases it on Facebook, offers a discount code for signing up to an email newsletter, features a YouTube explainer video in the announcement email and adds it to the app's knowledge bank, and keeps the same customer service contact on every platform. The article points readers to a free ebook, The Digital Marketing Guide for Non-Marketers. For a manager weighing a marketing program, these pieces give a sense of the practical, framework-driven approach before any money is spent.

Registration and policies

The site's featured links include registration information, an open-enrollment program finder, frequently asked questions, a Plan Your Stay guide for in-person participants and a Cancellation and Transfer Policy. Program fees are not printed on the home page; the catalog, the full schedule and the Client Relations team are the routes to them. Participants who already have a login use Wharton Direct.

Who it suits

Wharton Executive Education suits senior executives and high-potential leaders who want a Wharton program in leadership, strategy, finance, marketing or AI and analytics, and who can choose between a residential program in Philadelphia and live online or self-paced study. The Advanced Management Program is built for leaders at the top of their careers; the live online and self-paced programs suit managers who want Wharton teaching without travel.

It also suits organizations investing in leadership development, through custom programs designed around company strategy, group enrollment or executive coaching. Buyers should plan to request the catalog or speak with Client Relations to see dates, formats and fees for the specific programs they are considering.
