What Grupo Aspasia is

Grupo Aspasia is a Spanish-language training provider whose catalog consists of free, publicly subsidized courses for working adults and jobseekers. Its home page sums up the aim as generating, promoting and spreading quality training adapted to new technologies and current labor and professional demands, and it offers courses in three formats: online, classroom (presencial) and mixed. The site lists more than 150,000 people trained, more than 5,000 client companies and more than 10,000 students placed in jobs, under the banner "Más de 150.000 ya están trabajando" (more than 150,000 are already working).

The reason the courses cost nothing is explained on the online courses page: they are "100% gratuitos para los alumnos y alumnas" (100% free for students) because they are subsidized by the Ministerio de Trabajo y Economía Social and other public bodies, namely the public employment services, SEPE and the relevant autonomous communities, with possible funding from a European body as well. Those organizations cover the cost of each course. For a learner, that means there is no fee to weigh, but there is an eligibility question to answer first.

Who can enroll

Courses are aimed at four groups, which the site uses as a filter: employees, the self-employed, the unemployed, and workers in ERTE (temporary employment suspension). The online courses page sets out how eligibility works. Some courses for workers require belonging to the specific sector the training is meant for, while cross-sector courses, in disciplines common to most sectors such as languages, IT and Office, are open to any active worker. Courses for the unemployed require being registered as a jobseeker. Courses under the youth guarantee scheme (garantía juvenil) require being unemployed and under 30. Some courses give priority to vulnerable groups such as people over 45, women, the long-term unemployed and people with disabilities. As a general rule, the page says, the access requirements are always set by the body that funds the course.

Because the funding comes through regional employment services, the catalog can be filtered by funder. The menu lists courses from the CAM, the Xunta's Emprego service, Labora, LANBIDE, EMCAN, SCE, SEXPE, ECYL, SAE, SEPE and Trabajastur. It can also be filtered by province, with a page for each location, from A Coruña, Albacete and Alicante through Madrid and Sevilla to Valencia, Valladolid, Zamora and Zaragoza, including Ceuta and Melilla, which matters mostly for classroom courses.

The catalog

The thematic areas cover a broad mix of office, care, technical and digital skills: social and health care, home help, administration and business administration, accounting and finance, customer service, commerce and international trade, logistics and warehouse work, cooking, hospitality, nutrition, education and teaching, leisure and sports monitors, beauty and personal image, electricity, electronics, plumbing, welding, mechanics, quality control, environmental management, workplace risk prevention, security guards, languages and English, Excel and office software, IT, programming, software, cybersecurity, robotics, SCADA, artificial intelligence, graphic design, photography, marketing, digital marketing and social media, entrepreneurship, coaching and personal growth, and human resources.

Sector filters follow the logic of sector-specific funding: administration and management, agriculture and livestock, commerce and marketing, construction and extractive industries, consulting, education, energy, department stores, hospitality and tourism, food industries, information, communication and graphic arts, metal, health, private security, gardening, cleaning, waste and recycling, telecommunications, transport and logistics, chemicals and environmental services, plus a filter for any sector.

Examples of online courses named on the site include Acompañante de transporte escolar (school transport assistant), Alergias e intolerancias alimentarias (food allergies and intolerances), Comunicación digital y networking en internet, Diseño, seguimiento y evaluación de proyectos, and Gestión básica del almacén (basic warehouse management). Before enrolling, the site recommends checking each course's details: modality, who it is for, the number of teaching hours, the sector, the syllabus and the materials.

How online courses work

Online courses use a "metodología 100% online" and are taken on computers, laptops or tablets connected to the internet. The site describes the advantages as flexible hours, ease of combining study with other activities, the ability to study at any time from anywhere, updated content, a variety of learning activities ("vídeos, podcast, foros, entorno para el trabajo en grupo, materiales en formato web, ejercicios interactivos"), direct contact with the teacher and a wide course offer. Learners receive the teaching material for the course and, according to the page, can count at all times on specialized teachers to resolve doubts and follow their learning individually.

Certificates

On successful completion of these free online courses, the site says, learners can obtain the corresponding certificado de profesionalidad issued by the Servicio Público de Empleo Estatal (SEPE). It describes these certificates as official titles recognized by the Ministerio de Educación y Formación Profesional, certifying that the holder has the knowledge and skills to carry out a specific occupation. The home page search also offers certificados de profesionalidad and SEPE courses as their own categories, so a learner aiming for an official certificate can look for those courses directly.

Employment and company services

Grupo Aspasia's offer goes beyond courses. Its employment section lists internships in companies (prácticas en empresas), training with a hiring commitment (formación con compromiso de contratación) and the work-and-training contract (contrato de formación en alternancia). For organizations, the services menu lists training for companies, outsourcing, technology development, grant management, headhunting, outplacement and equality consulting. The site also has a page on its training centers, a blog with career articles such as how to build a competitive CV, and a podcast.

What students say

The home page carries short testimonials. Raúl Pérez Mota wrote "Muy buen curso y de nivel. 100% recomendable." (A very good, high-level course. 100% recommendable.) Vanessa Esquiva called it "La mejor formación de calidad que he hecho hasta el momento" (the highest quality training I have done so far) and said the platform "esta muy intuitiva y fácil de manejar" (is very intuitive and easy to use). David del Molino Tello called it "una academia humana, con un equipo de profesionales increíbles" (a human academy, with a team of incredible professionals).

Who it suits

Grupo Aspasia suits employees and self-employed workers who want free upskilling in their sector or in cross-sector skills like languages, IT and Office, registered jobseekers looking for training with a route to work, young unemployed people under the youth guarantee scheme, and anyone working toward an official certificado de profesionalidad. The trade-off for free training is eligibility: each course follows the rules of its funder, so the right first step is to filter by employment situation, province and funding body, then check the course's requirements. The site offers advisers who help learners find a suitable course.
