What Aprende Institute is

Aprende Institute is an online school that teaches practical trades and business skills entirely in Spanish, aimed at Latino adults in the United States and, through a separate Mexico site, learners in Mexico. The US home page is titled "Programas y Cursos Online para Emprender en USA" (online programs and courses for starting a business in the USA) and promises learning "Con el apoyo de expertos, a tu ritmo y 100% en español" (with expert support, at your own pace and 100% in Spanish). The Mexico site speaks of more than 40 trades "diseñados para emprender" (designed for starting a business) and of building "independencia económica" (financial independence).

The reader it serves is a working adult who wants a skill that earns money: someone adding air-conditioning work to an existing trade, opening a cleaning business, becoming a nail technician or pastry chef, or learning to market a small business online. The school frames much of its content around life in the US, with a "Comunidad Latina en USA" section offering guidance on the migration process and blog articles on topics such as manicurist licenses and opening a restaurant in the United States.

What the catalog covers

Programs are grouped into six areas, and the Mexico page counts more than 40 of them:

  • Gastronomía (food): pastry, traditional Mexican cooking, international cuisine, culinary techniques, wines and wine tasting, grilling, a Food and Beverage program, and Pastry Chef, Bakery Chef and Sweet Catering Chef programs.
  • Oficios (trades): advanced and automotive mechanics, plumbing, electrical installations, air-conditioning installation and maintenance, solar energy, sewing and dressmaking, dog training, home maintenance, home repair, handyman services, furniture design and installation, and a program on starting a cleaning business.
  • Belleza (beauty): nail art, manicure and nail design, make-up, facial and body cosmetology, hairstyling, eyebrow design, and eyelash extensions and lifting.
  • Bienestar (wellness): massage and holistic therapies, elder care, child care, personal training, functional training and calisthenics, mindfulness, emotional intelligence and positive psychology, nutrition, vegan and vegetarian eating, and Fitness Coach and Life Coach programs.
  • Emprendimiento (business): digital marketing, marketing for entrepreneurs, finance for entrepreneurs, personal finance, sales and negotiation, business creation, professionalism and real estate.
  • Hospitalidad y Eventos (hospitality and events): barista, wedding planning, catering, event organization and specialized event production, opening a food and beverage business, restaurant management and bartending.

That mix places Aprende across several shelves at once: a broad skills library of practical programs, creative skills such as make-up, nail art, sewing and pastry, and business and marketing courses for people running their own small company. Four areas are fronted by well-known figures: the home page pairs beauty with Ana Patricia, wellness with Adriana Martin, entrepreneurship with Anabelle Blum and cooking with Chef Yisus, and says "Inscríbete hoy y accede a clases exclusivas creadas por celebridades reconocidas" (enroll today and get exclusive classes created by recognized celebrities).

How studying works

The method has six parts, described the same way on both sites. Learners study at their own pace, from home, "como si estuvieras en el salón de clases" (as if you were in the classroom). Experts are "disponibles en todo momento para asesorarte y resolver tus dudas" (available at all times to advise you and answer your questions). Each course includes practical projects applied to real cases, and the FAQ adds that learners submit their practice work through the platform to check what they know. Students can join exclusive Facebook groups to share ideas with each other.

Live teaching is part of the package: the sites promise "Acceso ilimitado a clases en vivo" (unlimited access to live classes) led by experts on any day of the week. The FAQ explains that learners pick from a wide range of times and days, and that the classes run as a Zoom video call where students can talk with each other and with experts, explore new topics and ask questions. Courses sit on the school's own Campus Virtual, and the site links a page to download the Aprende app.

Entry is open. The FAQ says every program is designed so beginners can learn whatever their level, and that a device with an internet connection and motivation are all that is needed. On time, it says the programs are designed so a learner can earn the certificate of completion "en 12 semanas" (in 12 weeks), starting whenever they like and studying at their own pace.

Certificates and the Mexico SEP route

Every learner who finishes receives "un certificado digital de completitud" (a digital certificate of completion), which the site says will help them stand out.

The Mexico site adds an official route. Under the heading "Certificación Oficial Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) – Conocer", it says that on passing the evaluation at Aprende Institute, the learner receives a document issued by the SEP "con validez oficial en todo México" (officially valid throughout Mexico). It backs this with the "Garantía Aprende": if a learner finishes their diplomado at Aprende and does not pass the official certification, the school says it refunds 100% of the investment.

Prices, payment and track record

Neither home page lists program prices. The Mexico page offers a "Quiero Conocer Precios" (I want to see prices) button, both sites offer a chat with a sales adviser and advertise promotions, and the Mexico site also invites learners to ask about available scholarships (becas). The FAQ lists the payment methods: Mastercard, Visa, Amex, Diners and Discover credit cards, Mastercard and Visa debit cards, gift or prepaid cards, and OXXO.

On scale, the Mexico page says "Más de 300.000 estudiantes confiaron en nosotros y nos recomiendan" (more than 300,000 students trusted us and recommend us) and shows a 4.9 rating from more than 3,500 reviews, while the US page speaks of "más de 250 mil soñadores" (more than 250,000 dreamers). The US page also says the school has been on HolonIQ's list of promising North American startups since 2023, and celebrates more than 250 appearances on Univision's Despierta América. Its Instagram account passes 1 million followers, and a WhatsApp channel shares tips, classes and exclusive discounts.

Student stories on the home page are short and specific. Patricia Elizondo, who took Marketing Digital, writes: "Yo no sabía de marketing. Necesitaba que me explicaran desde cero y de una forma que pudiera aplicar a mi negocio." (I knew nothing about marketing and needed it explained from scratch in a way I could apply to my business.)

Who it suits and who it does not

Aprende suits Spanish-speaking adults who want a practical, income-focused skill and need to fit study around a job: trades workers adding a service, aspiring beauty and food professionals, carers, and small-business owners learning marketing and finance. The live Zoom classes and Facebook groups give more contact than a purely recorded course, and learners in Mexico can aim for an official SEP document backed by the school's refund guarantee.

It is a weaker fit for anyone who does not read Spanish, for learners who want to compare prices before speaking with an adviser, and for people who need an academic degree; outside the Mexico SEP route, what a learner receives is a certificate of completion.
