What Masai School is

Masai School is an Indian career school that trains people for in-demand tech jobs and ties its success to theirs. Its about page calls it an outcome-driven career school whose mission is to skill India's untapped and underutilized talent, and describes a model of higher education in which Masai invests in its students' future. The company behind it is Nolan Edutech Pvt Ltd, according to the site footer. Masai made its name with an intensive full-stack coding bootcamp, and its current site also presents a large catalog of online certification programs run with Indian institutes, so the entry serves two kinds of learner: the career changer who wants to become a developer, and the working professional looking for a credential in AI, data or management.

How it started

The about page tells the founding story. Co-founder and CEO Prateek Shukla was teaching with Teach For India during his pre-final year at IIT Kanpur, and on a later trip to Kenya and Tanzania he met the chieftain of the Maasai Mara tribe and learned how the tribe trains its members to stay capable and self-sustaining. Back in India, he noticed that technology companies spend about 6 months training new recruits before they contribute. He brought in Nrupul Dev and Yogesh Bhat, and the three started Masai School in June 2019 as what the site calls a military-style coding institute.

That institute was built on the 11-11-6 regime: 6 days a week, from 11am to 11pm. The about page says the program includes 1200 hours of hands-on coding, 100 hours of soft skills training and 100 hours of mathematics, and that Data Analytics was later added to the offer.

The coding bootcamp experience

The success stories page shows what the bootcamp is like from the inside. Graduates describe getting in through the Masai School Admission Test (MSAT), the 11-11-6 routine, and, in some earlier stories, a 9-9-6 schedule. One graduate, Suhail Malik, says he learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, NodeJS, Express and Mongo in 7 months; Mohamed Tanveer, who had to drop out of school in Class 5, says he learned to code from scratch in 6 months. Support comes from instructors, instructional associates (IAs) and Experience Champions, and graduates mention communication classes that improved their spoken English, mentors and a placement cell that kept helping after graduation. Deepanshu Prajapati sums up the teaching aim: "They teach you 'how to learn' and not just what to learn."

The financing model is the bootcamp's defining feature. Masai's earlier Income Share Agreement is now called Pay After Placement (PAP), and the stories describe it as a course with no upfront fees, paid once the learner is placed. Several graduates say they were wary of the model at first. The site does not list the fee or the terms that trigger repayment.

Programs on the site today

The home page now presents Masai as "India's Top Job-Ready Certification Platform" and leads with three cohort programs. The Founders Cohort is for founders at the idea or MVP stage, runs 6 weeks online with locations listed as Goa and Bangalore, and ends with a pitch to investors on Demo Day. AI Forward Deployed Engineer is for engineers who already code and prepares them for the FDE role in 10 weeks online, with Vietnam and Bangalore listed. AI Residency: Beyond Vibe Coding is for people who can prompt but cannot yet ship, runs 6 weeks online with Sri Lanka and Bangalore listed, and ends with a deployed product the learner can explain.

The wider catalog is organized by area: Product Management with AI (9 courses), Analytics and AI (10), Data Science and AI-ML (36), Software Development Engineering (11), Marketing and Analytics (9), Finance and Technology (6), Cybersecurity (5), Entrepreneurship and Leadership (6) and Business Management (5). Popular programs listed on the home page include an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program with Vishlesan i-Hub, IIT Patna (08 months online), an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Certification Program and a Certification Program in Data Analytics with AI and Gen AI with the E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, Product Management in the Agentic AI Era with IIM Trichy, and a Certification Program in Business Analytics with Gen & Agentic AI with BITS School of Management, most of them 6 months online.

Institute partnerships

The institute partners page says Masai designs and delivers industry-aligned programs with IITs, IIMs and leading business schools, and counts 40,000+ active learners, 16+ national institutes and 100+ partnered programs. The partnerships differ in what they offer. The E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee runs technical certification programs with Masai; the Centre for Continuing Education at IIT Mandi runs certification and credit-linked programs for students and working engineers; IIT Jodhpur and Masai have launched programs in technology and management that include an MBA Technology and undergraduate BS/BSc programs; and Vishlesan i-Hub, IIT Patna offers certification programs with editions delivered in Tamil and Telugu. IIM Lucknow, IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IITM Pravartak, iHUB DivyaSampark at IIT Roorkee, BITSoM and SPJIMR run certification or pathway programs for graduates and working professionals. With MIT, Masai delivers Machine Learning with Python: from Linear Models to Deep Learning in cooperation with the MIT Institute for Data, Systems and Society, supported by live teaching and academic help from Masai, and the Universal AI Program from MIT Open Learning, whose credentials are issued by MIT Open Learning. XLRI's Entrepreneurship Launchpad, a 6-month online program, is listed with applications closed.

Results the site reports

Masai publishes several outcome figures, each on its own page. The success stories page lists 5000+ hiring partners, 7,500+ placed students and an average CTC of 6.1 LPA, and offers an Impact Book of 101 alumni success stories; the home page reports 10,000+ Masai graduates placed in top companies. The success stories page also shows an average rating of 4.6 / 5 based on 500 reviews. Graduate stories name employers such as Swiggy, Sharechat, Capgemini, NoBroker, Pine Labs and Airtel Payments Bank, and one graduate, Lalitha Perumalla, writes that she left a job at Infosys and that "Masai helped me get 3X more salary in a product-based company." Employers can hire graduates through the site's Hire From Us route, and the team page describes a company of 200+ people, with dedicated B2B placements, placement operations, counseling and curriculum teams.

Who it suits

Masai suits Indian learners, including those without a computer science degree, who want an intensive, structured route into a software job and are drawn to paying after placement rather than upfront. Graduates' stories show it working for people from mechanical engineering, commerce, diploma and no-degree backgrounds. Working professionals and engineers will find more fit in the newer catalog: short AI cohorts for people who already code, and 6-month online certifications delivered with IITs, IIMs and business schools. The original bootcamp's long days, six days a week, demand full commitment, so it is hard to combine with a job, and anyone weighing the financing should ask Masai for the exact repayment terms before enrolling.
