What Le Wagon is
Le Wagon is an immersive tech bootcamp for people who want to change careers, launch a startup or add tech skills to the job they have. It teaches web development, data and AI through live classes and hands-on projects, on campus or online, in full-time and part-time cohorts. The about page says the company was created in 2013 by Boris Paillard, Romain Paillard and Sébastien Saunier, who felt that traditional degree courses were failing to teach the new tech skills people needed. The name comes from a French idiom: "L'éducation supérieure a 'un wagon de retard'", which the site translates as "Higher education has missed the train". Le Wagon pictures itself as the missing wagon that carries a class to its destination.
The scale claims are large. The about page counts 32,000 graduates worldwide, 27 campuses, 1,500 tech experts and professors and 93k meetup members, while the methodology page says learners can join on 40 campuses or online. The site calls Le Wagon the #1 ranked bootcamp globally and "#1 on 798 bootcamps", with a rating of 4.98/5 across 6,000+ reviews, and says Course Report, Switchup and Career Karma place it among the top bootcamps in the world.
The bootcamps
Le Wagon runs four bootcamps. AI Software teaches learners to build web and AI apps on their own. Data Science & AI covers full-stack Python, machine learning and AI skills. Data Engineering is about mastering data pipelines and cloud infrastructure. Data Analytics teaches how to query, analyze and visualize data. Each comes with 200-400 hours of live classes, and the site describes the length as flexible, from 2 to 7 months. The methodology page says the courses have been iterated hundreds of times, and learners build real software, data or AI projects that go into their portfolio; a student projects section shows the results.
Alongside the bootcamps, Le Wagon sells short courses for exploring data, tech and AI or sharpening a skill, including Data Analytics Essentials, Python & Machine Learning, Web Design & Webflow and Growth & Data Automation. The courses page groups its offer into data courses, tech skills for digital marketers, tech skills for entrepreneurs and a "Tech Curious" track for people with no prior experience. The site also lists free tech courses, workshops and events.
How the cohorts work
The full-time bootcamp is 40 hours of study a week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and the overview table gives 2 months to graduation. Each day opens with a lecture from 09:00AM to 10:30AM, where the teacher explains the concepts of the day. From 10:30AM to 05:00PM learners pair up with a buddy and work through programming challenges with the teaching staff on hand. A live session from 05:00PM to 06:00PM closes the day, with the teacher walking the class through the correction of the key challenges. Q&A support runs during class hours, and the full-time format is available online and on campus.
The part-time bootcamp is 16 hours a week, with 7 months to graduation. Learners watch video-recorded lectures in their own time and practice with challenges, then join 2 live sessions a week, either on weekday evenings from 6:30PM to 9:30PM or on Saturday morning from 09:00AM to 12:30PM. Outside live sessions, questions go to a dedicated Slack channel, where teacher assistants help, and the overview table describes this support as 24/7 with Wott, Le Wagon's AI assistant. The part-time format is available online and on campus in some cities. The site suggests full-time for job seekers and freelancers, and part-time for full-time workers, entrepreneurs, parents, care-givers and veterans.
Online cohorts are built to feel like a class rather than a course library. Learners join a cohort of students from around the world, work with classmates in live sessions, get help during support sessions on the virtual campus, and connect with peers and teachers in a shared virtual space. The learning platform, KITT, was built by Le Wagon's founders for intensive, collaborative learning.
Teachers
The site makes live teaching its main selling point: "Forget self-paced courses or 30-min mentoring sessions. Get real teachers who care about your progress and are here to help you when you need it." It promises live support with an under 10-minute response time, instructors who understand learners' needs, and industry insights from tech experts. Teachers shown on the methodology page include a Data Analytics Manager, a Head of Data Science & AI content, a course author and lead teacher, a full-stack developer and a data engineer, each with a short student comment.
Career services
Career support starts on the first day of the bootcamp, when a student success manager is assigned, and continues after it ends. At the start, learners choose one or more career programs: the job seeker program, for people looking for new employment or progress in their current job; the founder program, for launching a business or startup; the freelancer program, for careers as a freelancer in data, software engineering, AI or marketing; and the upskiller path, for getting promoted, building a network and adding skills. Services include one-on-one sessions with career experts, lifetime access to career content and events, free use of AI job search tools such as Huntr and EnhanCV, Q&A sessions with experts and alumni to prepare for functional and technical interviews, and exclusive job fairs and networking events with hiring partners.
The home page cites a network of 1000+ hiring partners, and the career services page says its career services guide students alongside a wider network of companies that have hired Le Wagon graduates. That page puts the network at 7,000+ companies. Graduates keep life-long access to the course material and to the network's job offers. The site says most graduates secure full-time positions, while others freelance, start with an internship or work as apprentices, and it offers a downloadable 2024 student job report with the average employment rate, the companies and sectors that hire alumni, and salaries. The about page adds that alumni have created 227 tech startups that raised $1.1B+ globally. Alumni quoted on the site include a Senior Product Owner CRM at Sephora, a Staff Interaction Designer at Google and a freelance data analyst, and the CEO of Getaround Europe says the company has hired more than 20 Le Wagon graduates.
Pricing, financing and partners
The program pages send applicants to a "See tuition and financing" page, and advisors can explain financing requirements, the admissions process, the tools and languages taught, and the prerequisites. The home page says finances should not be a barrier and that the company keeps looking for new ways to make payment and funding easier. The site states that a Qualiopi quality certification has been awarded for the category of training actions. For organizations, Le Wagon for Business offers corporate tech training, Le Wagon for Schools works with education institutions, and companies can become hiring partners.
Who it suits
Le Wagon suits career changers who want an intensive, teacher-led bootcamp with a cohort around them, whether they can study full-time for 2 months or need a part-time schedule spread over 7 months. Its four tracks make it a fit for aspiring developers and for people heading into data science, data engineering or analytics. Founders and future freelancers get their own career programs. Learners who only want to dip into a topic can start with a short course or the free workshops before committing to a full bootcamp.
