What Fullstack Academy is

Fullstack Academy runs live online tech bootcamps for career changers, recent graduates and people looking to upskill. Its flagship is the Software Engineering Immersive, a full-stack JavaScript program with generative AI built into the curriculum, offered full-time over 13 weeks or part-time over 22 weeks. Beside it sit a Beginner Coding Bootcamp, an AI & Machine Learning Bootcamp, a Cybersecurity Bootcamp and a Data Analytics Bootcamp, plus team training and programs for employer and university partners. The site gives the company's headquarters as Atlanta, Georgia, says it was founded in 2012, and states in its footer that Fullstack Academy is licensed by the New York State Education Department. It says it has helped more than 13,000 students graduate job-ready.

How the coding bootcamp works

Every class is taught live online. The full-time immersive is described as a rigorous, 13-week career accelerator for students of all starting skill levels, and the program page says no prior coding experience is required. The part-time version runs for 22 weeks with weekday evening classes, and the site says all its coding bootcamps cover the same core curriculum and use an all-skill-levels admissions process.

The program page lays out a sample full-time day in Eastern Time. It opens with a self-led review of notes from 10:00am, then live instruction from a Fullstack Academy instructor with a real-time demo of each new tool and a live Q&A. Guided practice and a workshop follow, built on pair programming, where two students take defined roles to solve problems and check each other's work. After an hour-long offline break, the afternoon is open instructional support, with a workshop exercise and help from the instructional team. The upcoming full-time cohort listed on the page meets Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 2:00pm ET.

The online bootcamp page adds how the learning loop works. Learners watch instructors live and can access the replays anytime, spend most of class time actually coding, get help from the instructional team when stuck, and after each coding challenge can watch a video of how the instructor would have solved it. The site describes the approach as active learning with competency-based evaluation.

The curriculum

The Software Engineering Immersive is organized into nine units. Front-End Foundations covers setting up a development environment, Git version control, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and responsive design in Visual Studio Code. Essentials of Generative AI introduces large language models, prompt engineering and different GPT models with ChatGPT. Front-End Development goes deeper into JavaScript, from control flow and promises to DOM manipulation and test-driven development. Front-End Libraries teaches React components, state, hooks, routing and global state management, with JSON Web Tokens. Designing Applications With Generative AI brings AI into UI and UX work and architectural planning, using Figma, Framer, Microsoft Designer and Uizard. Back-End Development covers RESTful APIs, SQL database design, user authentication and server-side architecture with Node.js, Express.js, PostgreSQL and bcrypt. Smart Coding and Testing With Generative AI uses ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Mostly AI and testRigor for AI-assisted code generation, migration, optimization and test automation. Algorithms and Data Structures covers algorithm analysis, searching, sorting, recursion and graph algorithms. The ninth unit is a full-stack capstone project.

The page advertises front-end, back-end and vibe coding with 17+ tools. The FAQ explains why the curriculum is built on full-stack JavaScript: the company concluded that browser-based single-page applications are the direction of web development, and says students who learn full-stack JavaScript find other languages easier to pick up. It notes that Python foundations are taught in the Data Analytics bootcamps.

Portfolio and certificate

Graduates leave with a portfolio of projects and a full-stack capstone, with all their code housed on GitHub. The page shows past capstone projects such as Blissful Journey, a travel planning website, Pucker Up, a dating website, and Tower of Zurpalen, an adventure game. On graduation, students earn a Fullstack Academy Certificate of Completion, and they join an alumni network the site puts at 13,000+.

Tuition and payment

The full-time Software Engineering Immersive lists tuition of $11,995 with three ways to pay. Paying upfront, marked as best value, applies a $4,000 institutional discount for a total of $7,995. Paying in equal installments applies a $3,000 discount for a total of $8,995; a refundable $500 deposit, applied to the total, is due at enrollment and can be refunded up to the end of the first week of classes, and the installment plan needs no credit check and carries 0% interest. Paying with a personal loan from an external lending provider also comes to $8,995 after the discount, with the monthly amount depending on the approved interest rate. The page notes that these discounts do not apply to payments made through sponsors, companies or milestone-based payments, and that Student Advisors explain the options during the application.

Admissions and career support

Admission takes three steps: an online application, a call with a Student Advisor, and an entrance decision in 1-3 business days. The school says it looks for commitment to an accelerated pace, a considerate and team-oriented culture add, and a growth mindset. Applicants who are not accepted can reapply in six months.

Career coaching starts in Week 1 and runs alongside the technical training, with one-on-one mentorship on LinkedIn, interviews and repositioning past experience for tech roles. After graduation, students can opt into Career Success Services for a full year, covering job interview preparation, resume work with the Career Success Team, LinkedIn and GitHub profiles, and group sessions and events. The home page says 1,500+ companies hire its graduates, naming Bloomberg, Spotify and Etsy among its hiring partners, reports a 4.8 student star rating, and cites a $90,000 average salary among its 2021 web development graduates. The program page also carries a table of role salaries from Indeed, such as $123,052 on average for a software engineer, which describes the job market rather than graduate results.

Graduate quotes on the site describe a demanding pace with support behind it. Ryan J. Raidt, a Coding Bootcamp Graduate, says "The pace of learning is very fast, but the structure of the program ensures that you're always building on what you've learned." Molly Morse writes that the instructors make it "safe to ask questions and learn and improve".

Who it suits

Fullstack Academy suits beginners and career changers who want a structured, instructor-led route into software engineering with generative AI tools in the curriculum, and who learn best in a live cohort with pair programming and daily support. The 13-week full-time format fits someone who can study on weekdays, while the 22-week evening format fits people who need to keep a daytime job. The published tuition, upfront discount and no-credit-check installment plan make the cost easy to plan, and the year of optional career services after graduation helps with the job search. The program is rigorous and fast, and the school is clear that it expects real commitment, so learners who want to dabble at their own pace will find a self-paced course a gentler start.
