Online Business School (OBS) is a UK online education provider, based in Coventry, that sells self-paced diploma courses designed to lead into a degree. Its pitch is online degrees without the high fees: a learner studies an OBS diploma online, then uses it to progress to a top-up degree or MBA at a UK university, with the home page promising diploma courses "that lead to top-up degrees or MBAs from respected UK universities". The catalog runs from IGCSEs and English language training through Level 3 university entry courses to Level 7 and Level 8 qualifications. It serves two readers: an adult learner who wants a route into a UK degree while working, and an employer who wants to put staff through accredited or short courses on its own branded platform.
The course ladder
OBS organizes its courses by level, and the site labels each level with its university equivalent.
- IGCSE and short courses. IGCSEs in biology, business studies, chemistry, computer science, English first language, environmental management, geography, history, mathematics, physics, and travel and tourism, plus IELTS English language training.
- Level 3 (A level), university entry. Accountancy (60 credits), Business Management (120 credits), Business Studies (60 credits), Employability and Workplace Skills (60 credits), Engineering (60 credits), Fashion and Textiles (120 credits), Health & Social Care (60 credits), Information Technology (60 credits), Law (60 credits), and "People and Organisations" (60 credits).
- Level 4 & 5, university first and second year. Accounting and Business, Business Management, Cyber Security, Health and Social Care Management, Human Resource Management, Law, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, IT and Computing, Psychology, Project Management, Teaching, and Tourism and Hospitality Management.
- Level 6, final year (graduate level). Business Management and Professional Sales Management.
- Level 7, Masters/MBA entry. Artificial Intelligence, Human Resource Management, "Organisational Psychology and Business", Project Management, Strategic Management and Leadership, and Strategic Sales Management.
- Level 8. Strategic Management and Leadership Practice.
For a business or marketing learner, the core route is Business Management at Level 3, then Level 4 & 5, then Level 6, with Strategic Management and Leadership at Level 7 and its practice qualification at Level 8 above that. Sales has its own path through Professional Sales Management and Strategic Sales Management. The site lists Level 3 Business Management, Level 4/5 Business Management, Health and Social Care Management and IT and Computing, and Level 7 Strategic Management and Leadership as its most popular courses.
Prices and payment
The home page prices its four most popular courses the same way: Health & Social Care Management (Level 4 & 5), Strategic Management and Leadership (Level 7), Business Management (Level 4 & 5) and IT & Computing (Level 4 & 5) are each from £145 per month or £3,500 in full. Monthly payment plans are interest free, described as affordable monthly payments at no extra cost. A banner on every page offers enrollment for £20 with £250 off any course using the code 250OFF. There is a Try for Free option and a callback form to speak to a course advisor. The footer states that Online Business School Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, with Firm Reference number 687515, and the menu has a section on Enhanced Learning Credits (ELCAS) funding for military learners.
How studying works
Study is 100% online and self-paced. The home page says learners get 5 years of access to all their course materials, "giving you plenty of time to study, revisit content, and submit assignments on your terms", and promises learning anytime, anywhere, on any device. Support is a big part of the offer: the site advertises 1-2-1 tutor support, 24/7 support described as around-the-clock personalized support, and ongoing tutor and mentor support. It also lists a free laptop to support learning among its benefits. Beyond the course itself, OBS offers access to 7 dedicated hubs for personal growth, well-being and career development, covering topics from mental health and self-care to job skills and confidence building, along with free career and development resources.
Professional body membership is included with the diploma at no extra cost, according to the home page, which says it strengthens your CV and shows industry recognition. Memberships vary by course; the bodies the site lists are the Chartered Management Institute, the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, The Institute of Leadership, the Institute of Hospitality, the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Scale and outcomes
OBS describes a community of over 20,000 students across more than 150 countries. Its headline outcome claim is that "83% of OBS Students have graduated from a UK University". Graduate testimonials back up the progression story. Matthew Fernidand, who studied Level 4 and 5 Business Management, says: "The transition to University felt natural because OBS had already prepared me well for the next step". Max Heston, from Level 6 Business Management, says the course "allowed me to study at my own pace while balancing my work commitments". Emeka Ferdnand Nkire, from Level 7 Strategic Management and Leadership, writes: "After completing the diploma, I progressed to a Master’s degree in Management with Digital Marketing". Kenny Somorin, who took Level 4/5 Health and Social Care Management, highlights prompt confirmations, updates and notifications whenever assignment feedback was ready.
White label for employers
The corporate side is a white-label LMS. The white label page invites companies that want to deliver in-house training in line with their corporate requirements to customize the interface with their own branding, and says the platform suits "a team of 5 or 5000 employees". Employers can offer short or fully accredited courses and modular learning in their own brand, view individual or departmental progress on dashboards, add their own resources and support, and access learner statistics. Listed benefits include 'own brand' university progression, all learning material provided, regular webinars, free support hubs for employee well-being, and total support from OBS. The corporate menu also lists short course CPD modules.
Who it suits
OBS suits working adults who want a structured, affordable route toward a UK bachelor's top-up or MBA without attending classes, especially in business management, leadership, sales, HR, health and social care or IT. The level-by-level ladder lets someone start at Level 3 with no degree and climb, and the long access period and monthly plans make it practical alongside a job. Employers get a branded platform with accredited content and progress reporting for anything from a small team to a large workforce.
The model is self-study with tutor support rather than live classes, so learners who want a timetable and a classroom cohort will find less of that here. And an OBS diploma is the step before the degree; the degree itself comes from the university a learner progresses to.
