What Semrush Academy is
Semrush Academy is the free learning side of Semrush, the search marketing and brand visibility software company. It teaches SEO, content marketing, AI search visibility and related marketing skills through online courses, short lessons and live webinars, and it awards certificates. The Academy page title is "Learn Marketing for Free with Online Courses from Semrush Academy," and its headline invites marketers to "Advance and inspire your marketing career" with "proven tactics and strategies."
This is a learner product. Anyone can take a course without buying the software, although some lessons are about the Semrush tools themselves and many webinars show them in use. Semrush itself now belongs to Adobe: a news item on the Semrush homepage is headed "Adobe Completes Semrush Acquisition," and the site carries an FAQ for customers about the deal.
What the Academy teaches
The Academy is organized into courses, lessons, resources, webinars, certification, onboarding and a For Education section. Courses and webinars can be filtered by topic: SEO, Semrush Tools, Content Marketing, Analytics, E-commerce, Sales, Marketing, PR, Paid Advertising, Social Media, Career, AI, Business, Local SEO, Marketing career and Competitive Research. The range runs from career and business basics to tool-specific training, so a newcomer to marketing and a working SEO specialist can each find a starting point. The Onboarding section serves new Semrush users learning the software.
Courses are taught by named practitioners, each listed with a course count:
- Brian Dean, "SEO expert and founder of Backlinko, one of the most popular digital marketing resources online (5M+ readers)," 1 course.
- Chima Mmeje, "an SEO content strategist and writer specializing in building and executing topic clusters for SaaS companies," 1 course.
- Janet Machuka, a social marketing strategist, content creator, copywriter and influencer who has "trained over 70+ brands," 2 courses.
- Andy Crestodina, co-founder of Orbit Media, "an award-winning digital agency," who has advised 1000+ businesses and written 500+ articles, 1 course.
- Kyle Byers, who "leads Semrush's global SEO, CRO, Organic Content, and International Blogs teams," 2 courses.
- Jeff Sauer, founder of Data Driven, agency advisor and business coach, who "had 50,000+ marketers enrolled in his Google certification programs."
Certificates
The Academy page invites learners to "Earn Your Certificate from Semrush Academy," and certification has its own section in the Academy menu. One example from the Semrush homepage is "A free certification course on how AI is changing search," which teaches learners to track prompts, optimize for LLMs and grow a brand's visibility in AI search. These are Semrush's own certificates, earned by completing its courses.
Webinars
Live webinars are the most current part of the Academy. Each lists its speakers, its length and its topics, and past sessions stay available to watch. Recent and upcoming sessions include:
- "Why social buzz doesn't guarantee search and AI visibility," 1 hour, with Fernando Angulo and Stephen Adams, on how brand discovery now runs across video, search and AI answers.
- "How to win AI visibility with a topic-first approach," 1 hour, for which the organizers "analyzed 6 months of ChatGPT data across 1,094 topics to see which brands are pulling ahead."
- "Claude + Semrush: Keyword strategy and competitor intelligence, built live," 1 hour, working through two real jobs: deciding what to publish next, and finding out why a page is losing rankings.
- "From built to found: SEO-ready websites with Lovable + Semrush," 40 minutes, a complete workflow for setting up SEO in Lovable so a site is visible to Google and to AI platforms.
- "The New Search Landscape: What the Data Actually Shows," 1 hour, with an expert panel including Aleyda Solis and Fili Wiese.
- "AI-powered Keyword Research with Claude & Semrush," 1 hour, a live workflow that "turns a content brief into keyword clusters, intent insights, and a content plan," followed by Q&A.
Most sessions deal with AI search visibility, and several build a workflow live on screen.
Free resources beyond the Academy
Semrush runs a blog, a knowledge base, an AI Visibility Index and free tools including an AI Visibility Checker, SEO Checker, Website Traffic Checker, Keyword Tool and Backlink Checker. The homepage promotes a free playbook, the AI Search Operating System, with "41 lessons, 10+ templates, and a 90-day action plan built for SEO and marketing leaders," and Spotlight, an event in London on October 13 that brings "100+ sessions and AI visibility experts together." The Academy pages can be read in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese.
The software the courses connect to
The Academy sits beside the paid Semrush platform. The homepage presents Semrush One as "The unified SEO and AI search solution," with solution areas for SEO (keyword research, backlinks, rankings and technical audits), AI Visibility (tracking prompt-level visibility and AI market share against competitors), Traffic and Market, Content, Local, Advertising for Google and Meta ads, AI PR, and Social. Its stated data covers 28B keywords, 43T backlinks, 808M domain profiles, 142 geo databases and 317M+ LLM prompts. Semrush MCP and the Semrush API bring that data into AI assistants and other tools, and the homepage announces an integration with Lovable and direct access to Semrush data in ChatGPT. The software is marketed to enterprises, mid-market companies, small teams, solopreneurs, freelancers and agencies. The homepage links to a pricing page, and the trial offer reads "Try Semrush free for seven days. Cancel anytime."
Who it suits
Semrush Academy suits marketers who want free, practical training on SEO, content and AI search from people who work in the field, and who like webinars that build a real workflow live. It is a natural fit for Semrush users and for agencies bringing new staff up to speed on the tools, and its certificates give a learner something to show for a finished course. Someone starting out can use the Career and Marketing career topics before moving into SEO, and the topic filters for e-commerce, PR, paid advertising, analytics and sales give marketers outside SEO material of their own. Semrush describes the people its software serves as business owners, agency owners, SEO specialists, content marketers and full-stack growth marketers.
It is less suited to someone who wants a formal qualification or an instructor-graded program, since these are free courses with Semrush's own certificates, and part of the catalog teaches the Semrush software rather than marketing in general.
