Monarch Institute is an Australian online training provider for working adults who want a qualification without stopping work. Its footer describes it as a "Registered Training Organisation" (RTO No: 22530), registered by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and governed by the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework, with a postal address on Bourke Street in Melbourne. The home page headline is "Get qualified - without pressing pause on your life", and the catalog runs from short skill courses through certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas to a Master of Business Administration. Study is online and self-paced. For a learner, Monarch is a place to earn a nationally recognized vocational qualification, or a single industry certification, on their own schedule.
The catalog
Monarch groups its courses into accounting and bookkeeping, artificial intelligence, business and management, creative industries, conveyancing, early childhood education, financial planning and paraplanning, finance and mortgage broking, governance, human resources, information technology, marketing, project management, transport and logistics, and short courses. The enquiry form on the home page lists the individual courses. In business and management they include Certificate IV in Business (Administration), Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business, Certificate IV and Diploma of Leadership and Management, the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management, several Diploma of Business streams (Digital Transformation, Operations, and one in "Organisational Development") and the MBA. The IT range includes a Diploma of Information Technology with cyber security and web development streams, AWS Academy Cloud Foundations and three CCNA 7 courses.
Money and finance is a large part of the offer. Accounting courses run from the Accounting Principles Skill Set and BAS and Payroll through the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Accounting and the Diploma of Payroll Services to Tax Agent Certification (TAC). Financial planning covers the Advanced Diploma of Paraplanning, an XPLAN course and the RG146 Professional Series, with modules on foundations of financial planning, insurance and risk management, investments, and superannuation and retirement planning. Finance and mortgage broking has a Certificate IV and a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management, and a Navigating Financial Statements short course sits alongside them.
Marketing courses in detail
Marketing is where the site gives the most detail. The marketing page splits the offer into four kinds of course:
- Nationally accredited qualifications: the Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication (BSB40820), pitched as a foundation course covering what you really need to know; the Diploma of Marketing and Communication (BSB50620); and the Advanced Diploma of Digital Marketing (11266NAT).
- A skill set: the Marketing and Communication Foundations Skill Set (BSBSS00107), aimed at small business owners and people starting a marketing career who need the basics of online marketing.
- A certification: the Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP) course, which leads to a certification exam and a CDMP designation from the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI). The FAQ says the CDMP is delivered in over 100 countries and that over 300,000 professionals are certified globally.
- Short courses of 6 to 14 hours each: AI for Business and Marketing, UX and Website Design, Social Media Marketing, "Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)", Paid Search (PPC), Customer Experience (CX), eCommerce, Data and Web Analytics and Email Marketing. The Social Media Marketing and eCommerce courses are described as associate-level certifications.
The FAQ explains what the longer courses teach. The Diploma of Digital Marketing covers product evaluation, launch strategy, marketing campaigns and brand experience, and the FAQ lists roles it prepares for, such as digital marketing specialist, social media planner, digital media buyer, digital copywriter and marketing automation specialist. The Advanced Diploma adds SEO and search engine marketing, website optimization using UX and UI principles, and the planning needed to build complex digital marketing plans and budgets. The marketing page says its practical assessments "let you create real strategies and campaigns for your organization, with expert feedback to improve your results quickly", which suits someone already doing marketing at work.
Time and fees
Course length depends on the route. The FAQ says a learner could finish several short courses in a matter of weeks, giving Digital Strategy at approximately 11 hours of study and the SEO course at approximately 9 hours. The CDMP course takes 6 months, and the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Digital Marketing takes between 12 and 24 months.
Fees for the marketing courses are published in the FAQ:
- Short courses are $645 each.
- The Diploma of Digital Marketing is $3,350 up front, or $154.62 per week on a payment plan over 26 weeks (total $4,020).
- The Advanced Diploma of Digital Marketing is $3,950 up front, or $182.30 per week over 26 weeks (total $4,740).
- The CDMP course is $2,150 up front, or $99.23 per week over 26 weeks (total $2,580).
The FAQ says paying up front saves 20% compared with a payment plan. Up-front payment can be made by electronic funds transfer, Mastercard or Visa, check or cash, while payment plans must be paid by Mastercard or Visa. The site also has a section on government funding, and fees for the other subject areas are on their own course pages rather than on the marketing page.
How study works and support
The FAQ describes Monarch's model as online and self-paced: learners move at their own speed, study when and where it suits them, and do not attend face-to-face classes. Trainers can be reached by video call, email, telephone and webinars and, according to the FAQ, respond within 24 hours, and there is peer support through a closed Facebook group. The marketing page introduces two of its trainers, Despina Karatzias, a marketing trainer, and Petra Zink, who holds an MBA and teaches marketing and logistics.
Monarch puts some outcome claims on its home page: 30% of alumni promoted, most within six months, and a 4.4 star rating on Trustpilot and Google from graduates. It also cites the National Student Outcomes Survey 2025 as the basis for its claim of practical training that leads to jobs, and says it is a multi-award winner.
Who it suits
Monarch suits Australian adults who want a recognized vocational qualification while working, whether that is a first marketing certificate, a diploma to move up, or an accounting, bookkeeping, payroll or financial planning credential for a career change. Marketers who only need one skill can take a $645 short course, and those who want an international marketing credential can take the DMI's CDMP through Monarch. The published prices and payment plans make it easy to budget before enrolling.
The self-paced format is the trade-off. There are no scheduled classes, so a learner who needs fixed sessions and classmates in the room has to rely on trainer contact and the online peer group, and the 12 to 24 months a diploma can take calls for steady self-discipline.
