What Kaltura is
Kaltura is an enterprise video platform. Its readers in this directory are L&D teams training employees and partners, and universities delivering lectures and course video, though the same platform also runs corporate communications, marketing webinars and media streaming. The homepage closes with the company's own summary: "Kaltura's mission is to power any video experience," with solutions "deployed globally across thousands of enterprises, media companies, service providers, and educational institutions," using video to teach, learn, communicate, collaborate and entertain. The About section says Kaltura has been "at the forefront of digital experience innovation since 2006." Today the homepage leads with AI: a banner calls it "the #1 AI platform for enterprise-scale engagement" (the company's own claim), and the new headline product is Agentic Avatars.
The products
Kaltura is a suite rather than a single tool. The products menu lists:
- Video portal: "secure, flexible, vastly scalable video hubs" that make on-demand content available anytime. The homepage describes AI-powered hubs that "surface the right content, enrich it automatically, and keep audiences engaged over time." This is the piece a training team uses to build an internal video library or a customer academy.
- Events & webinars: one place to "create, manage, monitor, measure and repurpose with AI all your digital events."
- Video content management: control of video workflows, security and analytics, with agentic workflows for publishing, enrichment and moderation. A KMC login sits in the site header.
- Publishing Agent, which automates video enrichment, compliance and publishing.
- AI Work Genie, which uses AI to change how users reach an organization's knowledge.
- AI Content Lab, which repurposes long-form content into "interactive, bite-sized experiences, like video clips, quizzes, and summaries." For a training team, this is the route from a long recorded session to short clips and a quiz.
- Agentic Avatars, real-time AI agents that answer users, generate personalized video and visual responses, and are "powered exclusively by your organizational knowledge." A Conversational Agent Studio lets teams build their own avatars without code, and Avatar video turns recordings, presentations, documents and webpages into finished videos.
The site also lists a developer suite and Media Services APIs.
The homepage explains how the avatars work for a learner: they respond instantly to what the user is trying to do, generate personalized responses using video, visuals and content elements, allow text conversation when preferred, and draw only on the organization's approved content library. The live and recorded sides of the platform are joined up too. Oracle's David Boyll says on the homepage that because the live and on-demand components are integrated, once a live webcast ends "it's a very short turnaround to hosting the on-demand video from the event," which is the step that turns a live training session into a library item.
For higher education
The education suite has its own products: AI Class Genie, campus events, virtual classroom, LMS video and lecture capture. The higher education solution promises "personalized learning in one AI video campus with LMS integration, AI tutor, and automated accessibility." The homepage's education panel, headed "Mentorship that never logs off," says live and on-demand video learning combined with agentic guidance "helps faculty with course setup, content creation, and accessibility compliance."
A university customer quoted on the homepage shows the LMS link in practice. Matt Robson, a broadcast journalism instructor at the University of Sheffield, says the department had struggled to find a system that would let students "quickly and easily upload their video projects, and that would link with our LMS for the delivery of marks and feedback to students. Kaltura has provided this powerful solution for us."
For employee and partner training
The Enterprise learning & enablement solution aims to "transform trusted company knowledge into personalized learning, AI-powered practice, and on-demand guidance." The homepage's training panel, "Knowledge that carries forward," describes live sessions, on-demand content and guided reinforcement "designed to support performance beyond the session," with Agentic Avatars helping employees "retain and apply what they've learned." For internal communications, leadership messages and town halls are delivered live and on demand, with avatars answering questions "in context, available in 50+ languages."
A Google product marketing manager quoted on the page describes adding a leaderboard to a "Kaltura-based partner training program," which he says helps people "feel like they're part of a learning community." An ABN AMRO digital strategist says Kaltura is "giving a voice to every employee" at a bank that, in the same quote, has 18k employees.
The numbers Kaltura publishes
The homepage claims Kaltura powers video experiences "for 20M+ monthly active users", manages 100PB+ of enterprise video, delivers 89% engagement in events and webinars, and "surfaces content that 92% of users would never find through search alone." It says its Agentic Avatars "respond with 95% accuracy in real time." A results strip adds that virtual event audiences watched 77 minutes on average per event and that customers saw a 17% increase in attendee satisfaction. These are company figures, not independently measured ones. Customer quotes come from Salesforce, AWS, Vodafone, ABN AMRO, Google, the University of Sheffield, Monday, Oracle and Thomson Reuters, and the homepage lists the sectors it serves as technology, financial and business services, healthcare and pharma, IT and professional services, retail and manufacturing, education and public sector, and media and telecom.
Buying, trials and support
Kaltura is sold through demos: "Book a demo" and "Contact Us" are the main calls to action. The site links to a pricing page and to limited trials, including a way to try Agentic Avatars. After purchase, the Customers & partners section offers a knowledge center, video tutorials, training services, professional services and a partner marketplace of integrations. Resources include a resources center, white papers and guides, a developer center, webinars, case studies and Kaltura Connect 2026.
Who it suits
Kaltura suits a large organization that needs video at scale across several jobs: a university wanting lecture capture, LMS video, a virtual classroom and accessible content under one contract; an enterprise L&D team running a video portal for employee or partner training, with webinars and AI-generated short-form content alongside it; or a company that wants its training, town halls and customer webinars on one platform. Teams interested in AI tutors and avatars grounded in their own content will find that Kaltura is putting most of its development weight there.
It is not built for an individual course creator. The site describes no storefront for selling a course to the public, the buying path is a demo with sales, and the breadth of the suite is more than a solo instructor or small team hosting a few lessons will use.
