What Training Unlimited is

Training Unlimited Pty Ltd is an Australian registered training organization (RTO ID 20891) based at Bibra Lake in Western Australia. Its homepage describes it as "a premier vocational education provider and accredited Registered Training Organisation (RTO ID 20891) servicing WA, SA, TAS & QLD." It runs two kinds of business side by side. The first is formal vocational training: Certificate III and Diploma qualifications, traineeships with employers, and in-person short courses. The second, and the reason it appears among training libraries here, is a catalog of short online courses that individuals and employers can buy for staff at a flat price per course.

For a team leader or HR manager, the online library is a quick way to put staff through leadership, communication, wellbeing, safety or HR topics. For an individual, it is a cheap route to personal development with a certificate of completion at the end.

The online course library

The online catalog is sorted three ways. By industry: aged care, childcare, construction, disability, hospitality, mining, retail and white card. By safety and compliance: aged care, dementia, quality standards, fire safety, health care and work health and safety. By professional skills: business, human resources and personal development. The headline offer is "Online Courses for only $49!"

The personal development page lists dozens of courses, each at $49. Most run 45 minutes. A few are shorter: "Dealing with Change: Own Your Response," "De-escalation Skills for Customer Service Staff," "Lone Worker Safety: Dynamic Risk Assessments" and "The Leadership Lens: From Peer to Leader" are 10 minutes each, and "Introduction to Stakeholder Management" is 30 minutes. The rest cover leadership and management ("Becoming a Manager," "Change Management," "Performance Management," "Managing Difficult Conversations"), personal effectiveness ("Build Your Resilience," "Improve Your Time Management," "Develop a Better Work-Life Balance," "Improving Wellbeing"), and workplace skills ("Effective Communication," "Excellent Customer Service," "Presenting With Impact," "Negotiate Like a Pro," "Get to Grips With Finance," "Introducing Project Management," "Embracing Diversity").

The business course pages mention topics such as competition and consumer law, information security awareness, social media in the workplace, work-related stress and inclusion for LGBTIQA+ people. For aged care providers, a set of online courses follows the seven Aged Care Quality Standards, from "Standard 1 : The Individual" to "Standard 7 : The Residential Community," each module covering consumer outcomes, provider practices and compliance requirements. The homepage also lists online courses on understanding dementia, health care, human resources and work health and safety.

How the online courses work

The page is clear that these are "non-accredited online courses" delivered "through our learning management system," with two parts: online learning and online workbooks. There are no prerequisites and no USI number is needed. After enrolling, a learner gets login details for a learner portal and has three months from the booking date to finish. Courses mix "interactive modules, multiple-choice questions, and videos," can be paused and resumed, and the site lists professional audio, animation, "WCAG 2.0 Accessibility" and mobile compatibility among the course features. On completion, the certificate of completion "will be emailed directly to you" the same day.

Courses run on Windows and Mac computers, iPads, tablets and Android or iPhone phones, with no software download. The site recommends current Chrome, Firefox or Safari on computers and tablets, iOS 11 or later with Safari on iPhone, and Chrome on Android, and notes that Microsoft Edge is not supported.

Staff training and group buying

For employers, the site says that for group enrollments it supplies staff with individual access to online courses, personalized certificates and corporate discounts "for 25 or more employees." Each course listing carries a "Staff Training" button next to "Book Now." The same staff training page covers traineeships: Training Unlimited works with businesses to run Certificate III and Diploma traineeships for their own employees, and the homepage names traineeship partners who provide work placements. Several of its hospitality and retail trainers are listed against Hungry Jack's traineeships, and a news item celebrates a Queensland Training Award win with that partner.

Qualifications and in-person courses

The formal side is broad. Childcare students can take the Certificate III or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care as a traineeship in WA, SA or TAS, or by recognition of prior learning in WA, and the site advertises "no waiting lists, subsidised fees & flexible study options." The Certificate III in Individual Support is offered as a traineeship in ageing or disability in WA, and there are Certificate III traineeships in retail (WA) and hospitality (QLD, SA and TAS).

In-person short courses run at Bibra Lake or onsite for groups. The site describes CPR, First Aid and Childcare First Aid as "nationally accredited" and available weekly, the childcare version covering asthma and anaphylaxis. Food Safety Supervisor training comes as a 1-day course (online learning plus a practical day) or a 2-day skill set with "expert chef" Paul Desport, and the White Card construction induction runs at Bibra Lake, Mandurah or onsite.

Payment, support and people

Online courses are paid at booking. The FAQ states that installment payments are not available and that "full payment of course fees are required at the time of booking," but mentions "package deals which offer reduced prices." Payment is by credit card, EFTPOS or cash, with invoices and company cheques by prior arrangement, and the footer links to a refund policy. Job seekers can book through their Job Network employment consultant, since "Centrelink does not pay directly." Learners who struggle with English may bring a friend or book an interpreter through the National Translation service.

The homepage introduces the management team, led by director Eric Ripps, and a large roster of named training specialists by state. Contact is by phone at 08 6493 4777, by email or in person at the Bibra Lake office.

Who it suits

The online library suits small and mid-sized Australian employers that want inexpensive, short courses for staff on leadership, communication, wellbeing or customer service, with a certificate per person and a discount for groups of 25 or more employees. Aged care providers get a ready set of Quality Standards modules. Individuals can buy a single 45-minute course for $49 and have the certificate the same day.

The online courses are short and non-accredited, so they suit refresher and awareness training rather than formal credentials. Learners who need a qualification should look at the Certificate III, Diploma and traineeship pathways, which are tied to particular states.
