Skill5
Tap a star to rate
Skill5 is a microlearning product for workplace skills, built for small and medium businesses and for individual employees who want to improve at work a few minutes at a time. Its homepage headline is "Workplace skills, five minutes at a time", and the program is a fixed library of short, sequenced lessons in four areas: professional foundations, communication, productivity and artificial intelligence. A business buys team seats, invites its staff and follows their progress; an individual can take a subscription alone. The company's own article on microlearning platforms says Skill5 "was built from the ground up for small and medium businesses", and lists a simple LMS with assignment, deadlines, reminders and tracking as part of the product.
The program
The homepage lays the library out precisely: "4 areas, 20 tracks, 100 lessons", taught in English. Each area holds 5 tracks of 5 lessons, so 25 lessons per area.
- Professional Foundations: Professional Behaviour (the free track), Reliability and Accountability, Learning How to Learn, Adaptability and Change, and Motivation and Discipline.
- Communication: Clear Business Writing, Email and Messaging, Clear Verbal Communication, Active Listening, and Asking Better Questions.
- Productivity and Execution: Time Management, Focus and Deep Work, Prioritisation, Goal Setting and Work Planning, and Execution and Follow-Through.
- Artificial Intelligence: Understanding Modern AI, Prompting and Context, Evaluating AI Output, AI for Writing and Communication, and AI for Research and Analysis.
The AI area is practical rather than technical: it teaches staff how to prompt, check what a model produces and use it for writing and research, which is the kind of AI training a small company can give its whole team. The app preview on the homepage also shows tracks for client-facing roles, such as Guest Service (Guest Experience Basics, Handling Guest Complaints, Communicating with Guests), Presentation Skills and Sales Conversations (How to Handle Objections, Communicating Value in Sales, Asking Sales Questions). The company's article describes the wider library as covering communication, leadership, self-management, AI productivity and digital ethics.
How a lesson works
According to the FAQ, "Each lesson focuses on one workplace idea, with practical examples and a short quiz. Lessons are designed to take about five minutes." The design follows the company's own advice in its article that microlearning lessons "should be 3 to 10 minutes long, covering one concept at a time".
Lessons run in sequence. A learner picks a track and must finish each lesson before the next one opens, a rule that "applies to free and paid learners". Locked lessons show their titles, so a learner can see where a track is going. Tracks start independently, so someone can run Active Listening and Time Management side by side. The account keeps lesson progress, quiz results and a daily learning goal, and the progress follows the learner across devices.
New tracks arrive progressively. The FAQ explains that a track appears in the app once its first lesson is ready and later lessons become available as the learner goes, with a preparation notice shown when no tracks are ready yet.
Devices
Skill5 runs in the browser at app.skill5.com on a phone, tablet or computer. The homepage says learners can "use the downloadable mobile app" instead and that downloading it is optional. The older article on microlearning platforms still described the native iOS and Android app as coming soon, so the app is the newer of the two routes. Either way the pitch is the same: "Phone, tablet, or desktop. Employees train wherever they are, on whatever they have."
Team seats and the LMS
For a business, access works through team seats. The FAQ describes it this way: "A team owner manages a seat subscription on the web and shares an invitation link. Each member uses their own account and keeps their own learning progress." That keeps rollout simple, since there are no user imports or IT setup, just a link.
The article lists what a manager gets on top: a "Simple LMS included" that lets them "Assign courses by role or team, set deadlines, send automated reminders, and track progress, all from one dashboard". It also promises "Built-in quizzes and certificates. Every course includes knowledge checks and shareable completion certificates." The company's stance on admin is blunt: "If your team needs training to use the training platform, something is wrong." It also says "No training team required. Any manager or business owner can subscribe, assign, and track training independently", which is the right expectation for a business without an L&D function.
The article sorts microlearning products into three types: content-only libraries with few management features, LMS-only platforms where the buyer supplies all the training material, and all-in-one platforms that combine a ready-made library with assignment, tracking and reporting. Skill5 places itself in the third group, and its getting-started sequence follows from that: "subscribe, pick your courses, assign to your team, and track results". On reporting, the article sets the bar as knowing "who completed training, who did not, and how they scored", from a dashboard that does not need a data analyst to read it.
Pricing and free access
Professional Behaviour is free, with five lessons, so anyone can try the format before paying. The FAQ states that "All other released tracks require an individual subscription or a team seat." The homepage and the article print no prices. The article describes the model as "Flat-rate plans designed for teams of all sizes, not enterprise budgets" and contrasts it with "six-figure annual contracts". The site footer links to a refund policy and terms of service, and the article invites businesses to "book a free demo" or get in touch with the team.
Languages
Lessons are taught in English. The website itself has English and Portuguese versions, but the homepage is explicit that the lessons are in English.
Who Skill5 suits
Skill5 is a good fit for a small or medium business, from a shop or hotel to an agency or a growing office team, that wants to give everyone the same grounding in professional habits, clear writing, listening, time management and everyday AI use, without building content or running a full LMS. The five-minute format suits frontline and busy staff, the invitation link makes rollout quick, and the manager can see who has done what. An individual who wants a structured way to work on one skill can also start with the free track and then subscribe.
It is less suited to a company that needs compliance training, deep technical subjects or its own uploaded content, since the program is a fixed library of 100 lessons in four areas. Teams that need training in languages other than English should note that the lessons are English only.
