Prospero Learning

Tap a star to rate

Prospero Learning is an online training library for people who work in schools, colleges and multi-academy trusts. Its homepage describes it as "Accredited Online Professional Learning for Educators, Schools, Colleges and MATs", and the catalog mixes statutory training (safeguarding, Prevent, health and safety, first aid) with professional development on teaching, behavior and special educational needs. Individual teachers, tutors and support staff can enroll in a single course and pay for it on its own, while schools and trusts can take a custom branded portal and a subscription. The company lists a London address on every page, and its course pages carry an advertisement for Prospero Teaching, an education recruitment agency under the same name.

How a course works

Each course follows the same pattern: enroll, watch video content, complete the knowledge checks, then download a certificate on completion. The Intermediate Safeguarding (Level 2) page lists a duration of 4 hours, 3.5 hours of video and 13 chapters, running from an introduction to safeguarding children through abuse and neglect, online safety, risk factors, managing disclosures, reporting and recording, serious case reviews and the 2026 changes to KCSIE, before safeguarding scenarios and a course assessment. The page says the course is written in line with KCSIE 2026 and "is compliant with the requirements for Level 2 Safeguarding certification".

The Prevent course is shorter: 45 minutes, 30 minutes of video and 5 chapters, each chapter followed by a five-question knowledge check, then a course assessment and a completion certificate. It is based on Home Office guidance, teaches the Notice, Check, Share process, and says it supports compliance with statutory duties under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act (2015) and KCSIE.

The homepage adds that courses can be taken on any device, include closed captions and use knowledge checks as learners progress. The schools page says courses are broken into chapters with a course assessment, and that resources and summaries can be downloaded and kept. Its modular design and auto save let staff stop and pick up again later.

Accreditation and certificates

The schools page states: "All our courses are written by education experts and are accredited by CPDUK." Individual course pages say each course "is certified by The CPD Certification Service". The homepage adds that the courses are "accredited by relevant industry bodies and supported by professional memberships", without naming them. What the learner receives is a downloadable certificate of completion after the knowledge checks and assessment.

Pricing and school subscriptions

For an individual, pricing is per course and printed on the catalog: free, £8, £15, £20 or £35. The homepage's popular courses panel showed Intermediate Safeguarding in Education at £13, below the £15 on the course page, so the price at checkout can differ from the catalog. The Prevent course is free to state, not-for-profit and DfE-registered educational institutions, with IP and domain blocking used to "ensure fair usage"; other organizations are asked to get in touch before starting it. The company also offers safeguarding training access to charities that work with children and young people.

For schools, colleges and MATs the model is different. The schools page promises "Heavily discounted rates for Schools, Colleges and MATs", a free and paid course offer, and pay for what you use, and the homepage says Prospero offers subscription models "Guaranteed to offer a lower cost than any other subscription provider by at least 25%". Institutional prices are not printed; a call with the team covers pricing. Schools get a custom branded portal with their own logo and color scheme, staff enrollment, training monitoring and certificate access, and the homepage says every customer has a dedicated customer success lead from day one. Prospero also offers free consultancy on professional learning linked to school improvement priorities, delivered by educators and former school leaders.

What schools say

The schools page carries four short testimonials, including: "We have saved thousands by moving away from our previous provider who required an annual subscription. They offered hundreds of courses, but staff only routinely engaged with a handful. Prospero Learning provided a solution where many courses we wanted were free, and we pay for additional courses as required". Another reads: "Knowing staff must complete end of chapter assessments before receiving training certificates has given us greater confidence that our staff and governors are engaging with and understanding training". The homepage cites a 4.8 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot.

Who Prospero Learning suits

Prospero suits a UK school, college or MAT that wants its annual statutory training (safeguarding at the right level, Prevent, fire, first aid, data protection) plus a focused set of CPD on SEND, behavior and classroom practice, without paying for a large library that staff barely use. A small primary school can run its whole compliance cycle on the free and £8 courses, and a trust can take a branded portal and a subscription.

It also works for an individual teacher, tutor or supply teacher who needs a single certificate quickly, since courses can be bought one at a time. The catalog is written around English statutory guidance, so a setting outside that framework would find less of it directly applicable, and an organization wanting deep subject knowledge or long leadership programs would need another provider alongside.
