Mindtools Kineo
Tap a star to rate
Mindtools Kineo is a workplace learning company that sells to organizations: off-the-shelf course libraries, manager development tools, learning platforms and custom learning design, under the headline "Workplace learning that drives performance." The home page says it designs solutions "from leadership development and compliance to onboarding and learning strategy" that "deliver measurable impact." It is a fit for the L&D team that wants content, a platform and design help from one supplier, and also for a team that only wants one of those pieces.
The site splits its audience into Individuals and Organizations, but the product described in depth is the organizational one. The company says it combines "management development, off-the-shelf content, and custom learning design into one connected approach."
What an organization gets
Solutions by goal
The home page organizes the offer around five problems a learning team is trying to solve:
- Management and leadership development, to "develop confident, capable leaders who can inspire teams, drive performance, and lead through change."
- Compliance and essential skills, delivering mandatory training that the company says engages employees, reduces risk and supports regulatory compliance.
- Onboarding and induction, structured onboarding from day one aimed at faster productivity.
- Learning strategy and performance, aligning learning to business goals with data-driven strategies.
- Scalable learning platforms, giving "the control, visibility, and flexibility to deliver impact across your organization."
The company adds that solutions are built around specific goals, naming developing first-time managers, meeting regulatory requirements and building a scalable learning infrastructure as examples.
Content libraries and tools
The product menu names several pieces of content and tooling:
- Kineo Courses, the company's off-the-shelf course content.
- Skills Practice, listed under products alongside the course library.
- M: Suite, the management development product, with the Manager Skills Assessment listed beneath it.
- AI Skills Academy, listed among the company's products and services.
The home page frames the content side as "Off-the-shelf and bespoke content", so an organization can license ready-made courses or commission its own. A banner across the site says Mindtools Kineo was "named Top 20 Online Learning Library by Training Industry", which is the clearest signal of the training-library side of the business.
Learning platforms
Under Learning platforms the site lists Totara, Learnforce and Kineo analytics, and describes the category as "Learning platforms (LMS & experience platforms)." A buyer can therefore take a learning management system from the same supplier that provides the content, with analytics as a separate named product. Choosing between Totara and Learnforce is part of the demo conversation.
Custom design and services
The company gives four reasons organizations choose it. Learning "that delivers measurable impact", focused on performance, engagement and business results rather than content alone. Solutions tailored to the organization, because "No two organizations are the same." Global expertise with local relevance, drawing on work across industries and regions. And technology, content and strategy combined, from platforms to content to consultancy, so a buyer is not stitching suppliers together.
The services side covers custom services, consultancy and insights, custom learning design, workshops and performance enablement. The company describes its approach as combining "behavioural science, learning technology, and expert content", and says its aim is to "build capability that sticks."
The blog shows the kind of custom e-learning the design team works on. A post on interactive video sets out 8 techniques: hazard identification (click when you see the hazard, scored as you go), quizzes and assessments inside the video, stop the action, interactive conversations with branching responses, different channels that branch by job role or perspective, interactive transcripts, hotspots and annotations, and full simulations that end in a verdict and analysis and can be re-run. The post invites readers to contact the team for guidance on combining techniques. Recent posts cover AI and learning design, compliance failures, and human behavior as a cyber security risk.
Track record and terms
Pricing. The site publishes no prices. Every route leads to "Book a demo", and the footer links to Terms of Website Sale.
Scale. The home page says: "Join thousands of employees in hundreds of companies flourishing at work."
Clients and results. One client story is set out on the home page. Mindtools Kineo worked with South Western Railway on "an award-winning blended learning programme" for leadership skills, mixing bite-sized e-learning, residential workshops, peer support groups, mentoring and real-world projects; the company says the program "boosted leadership capability by 12%." Two client quotes follow. Booking.com is quoted saying the company helped it move "from a training culture to a proactive learning culture", with staff learning from "a five-minute video or article accessed on their phone, rather than travelling to a full-day training course." AstraZeneca is quoted on giving people "access to bite-sized information."
Research. The company publishes reports. Its Building Better Managers report, according to the home page, came from a March 2024 survey run with YouGov of "more than 2,000 managers in the U.K."
Recognition. Besides the Training Industry library listing, the home page has an awards section saying the company's management and leadership development work "has earned numerous accolades", and the footer links to a Certifications page.
Reach and languages. The company describes "Global expertise, local relevance" and "experience across industries and regions." The site also offers a Spanish version.
Resources and support. The knowledge hub includes a blog, client stories, a newsletter, a podcast and reports and guides. Contact is through a contact page and demo booking. The company also runs a product advisory group and a partner program, both linked from the About section.
Who it suits
Mindtools Kineo suits a mid-sized or large organization that wants to develop managers at scale and is willing to buy more than a course library: assessment through the Manager Skills Assessment, a platform such as Totara or Learnforce, and design help for programs like the South Western Railway one. Its strongest material is on management and leadership development, and the published research on managers backs that focus. Teams that need compliance and onboarding content alongside leadership training can cover all three with one supplier.
The model is consultative. With no published prices and a demo as the entry point, it is a heavier purchase than a self-serve subscription, so a small business that only wants a handful of off-the-shelf courses for a few staff will find the sales process more than it needs. Buyers choosing between the two learning platforms should expect to have that conversation with the sales team rather than from the website.
