What it is

Gyldendal e-Learning is a Danish provider of e-learning courses for workplaces, part of the Gyldendal group of publishers. It sells to employers, mainly in home care, care homes, residential facilities, day care and other care settings, who need their staff trained to a shared standard. The home page puts the offer in one sentence: "Vi udvikler både skræddersyet e-learning, der er tilpasset din arbejdsplads, og standardkurser, som er klar til at blive implementeret" (we develop both tailor-made e-learning adapted to your workplace and standard courses ready to be implemented). It names the needs it answers as a skills upgrade, a shared set of values, or consistent routines. The standard catalog has three series: safe medication (Sikker medicin), the use of force (magtanvendelse), and hygiene. All courses are in Danish and built around Danish law and guidance. The office is at Klareboderne 3 in Copenhagen.

The home page names three strengths. High professional quality: the courses are made by experienced practitioners who know the everyday challenges and current law. Motivating learning: a long tradition of pedagogically grounded learning supports learners' motivation and understanding. Fast implementation: a streamlined process so a workplace can start quickly.

Safe medication: four courses

The Sikker medicin series has four courses that can be ordered together or one at a time. The page says they suit onboarding and upskilling "i en travl hverdag med mange nye medarbejdere, der skal håndtere medicin" (in a busy everyday life with many new staff who have to handle medication). They were developed with nurses and subject experts, and the series page credits close collaboration with medicin.dk.

  • Medicinkørekort (medication license): a practical course for unskilled staff learning basic medication handling, step by step, with a focus on safety and understanding. It suits onboarding in home care and residential facilities and takes about 40 minutes.
  • Medicinhåndteringspakken (medication handling package): a thorough course for trained staff who handle medication daily, covering the whole process from dosing to documentation. It is based on the guidance of the Danish Patient Safety Authority (Styrelsen for Patientsikkerhed), "Korrekt håndtering af medicin" (correct handling of medication), comes in versions for authorized and non-authorized staff, and runs about 3 hours over two modules.
  • Medicinhåndtering Repetition (refresher): a short course for experienced staff, or after two years of employment, for those who have taken the medication handling course before. It takes about 35 minutes and gives a certificate.
  • Risikosituationslægemidler (high-risk medicines): a micro-course on the most error-prone medicines, built from seven micro-modules of 5 to 7 minutes with case-based exercises. It is aimed at social and health care assistants and helpers, pedagogues and temporary staff.

Bundling the four, the page argues, gives an organization a shared frame of reference and the same procedures across staff groups, while each course fits a different role.

The use of force: three courses

The magtanvendelse series has three courses, built on the principle of the least possible force and always grounded in the law. The series page says the courses were developed by practitioners and combine theory, ethics and practical cases. They are designed for trained and untrained staff working with children and young people in care placements or with adults with reduced mental function.

  • Børn og unge (children and young people): for staff at residential institutions, care homes and foster families. It covers the child's right to personal freedom, conflict prevention, physical guidance and self-defense, with interactive exercises, reflection tasks and cases, and comes in four variants depending on the type of placement.
  • Voksne: Forstå lovgivningen (adults, understanding the law): an overview of the rules on the use of force against adults under the Danish Social Services Act (serviceloven), including acute and pre-approved measures, and how they are applied for, registered and reported. It also covers the concept of force itself, ethical and pedagogical considerations, preventive measures, the special rules for particular target groups, and when self-defense and necessity may apply.
  • Voksne: Fra regler til praksis (adults, from rules to practice): turns the law into everyday practice through realistic cases, balancing self-determination against the duty of care for citizens with significant and lasting mental impairment.

Hygiene: three courses

The hygiene series covers how infection spreads, microorganisms, and current guidance from the health authorities. Like the other series, it is adapted for trained and untrained staff and gives clear, practical instructions, from understanding how infection travels to concrete daily routines.

  • Hygiejne på arbejdspladsen (hygiene at work): basic knowledge of infection and prevention, hand hygiene and protective equipment, in about 15 minutes.
  • Hygiejne til børneområdet (hygiene in childcare): for day care staff, about 50 minutes, covering infection prevention, hygiene at diaper changes and children's meals, and cleaning toys and surroundings.
  • "Hygiejne - ældre og sundhed" (hygiene, older people and health): for staff caring for older people, whose weakened immune systems make hygiene especially important. About 45 minutes of easy-to-follow visual learning.

How buying works

The site has a price page (Priser), and each course page links to it, but prices are not shown on the course pages themselves; the home page invites questions about "pris, stil, implementering eller andet" (price, style, implementation or anything else). Course pages offer a no-obligation quote through a form asking for name, workplace, email and phone, and the company says a staff member will get back to the sender. The phone line, 33 75 59 60, is open Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 16.00. The footer links to a GDPR audit statement (GDPR revisorerklæring) and to accessibility statements for the site and for the courses.

What customers say

One customer quote appears on the home page, from Specialrådgivningen til børn og unge med høretab, a specialist advisory service for children and young people with hearing loss: "Det er simpelthen så dejligt at se det med illustrationer - det giver et godt flow og overblik" (it is simply lovely to see it with illustrations; it gives a good flow and overview). A separate page collects more customer statements.

Who it suits

Gyldendal e-Learning suits Danish municipalities and private providers in home care, care homes, residential facilities and day care that must train many staff, often new or unskilled, in medication, the use of force and hygiene to a documented standard. The short, timed courses fit into shifts, and an employer can buy one course or a whole series. Organizations with their own procedures can commission tailor-made e-learning.

It does not fit employers outside Denmark, since the courses are in Danish and tied to Danish legislation, or anyone looking for a broad general business catalog.
