What ClassCover Learn is

ClassCover Learn is an online professional development library for Australian teachers. Its FAQ describes it as "an online professional development platform for Australian educators, with 200+ hours of self-paced courses aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers", and adds that "It's part of ClassCover, the platform schools and teachers use for casual relief bookings and teaching jobs." The headline promise is "Teacher PD that fits your week and your budget", with the line "Pick up strategies on the couch tonight and use them in class tomorrow."

It is meant for every kind of educator: classroom teachers, casual relief teachers and early childhood educators, with courses from early childhood through secondary. The FAQ notes that "A handful of courses are made especially for casual relief teachers, and most suit any classroom." The site says teachers have enrolled in its courses "more than 550,000 times" since 2015, and it shows a 4.8 rating from 7,300+ teacher reviews, adding that teachers know the courses "for being practical, relevant and classroom-ready". ClassCover itself has three parts listed in the footer: ClassCover Learn for PD, ClassCover Bookings for casual relief bookings and ClassCover Jobs for teaching positions. A teacher who already uses ClassCover to pick up relief days therefore has PD and job listings in the same account.

The course library

The library is organized by stage and need. Teachers can jump to Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, Neurodiversity and Casual Teachers collections, or to Learn Live events. Topic tags cover behavior management, AI, early childhood, ADHD, feedback and assessment, creative arts, beginning teachers, digital safety, English, autism, casual relief teaching, Aboriginal education, digital technologies, drama, diversity, 21st century learning, career and classroom teachers. The courses page says "New courses land most months", and the FAQ confirms that new courses are added regularly and "they're all included in your membership at no extra cost."

Courses are "Self-paced courses from expert Australian educators". Each one combines videos, activities and downloads, and a certificate is ready to download when a course is complete. The site describes a range "From courses made for casual teachers to deeper dives for classroom teachers", so a graduate in a first casual role and an experienced classroom teacher looking at ADHD, autism or feedback and assessment both have a place to start. Beginning teachers have their own topic, and the AI and digital safety tags cover newer classroom questions. The membership card adds that courses are "Aligned to the Australian Curriculum".

How learning works

Everything is online and self-paced. The site's example is "Start on a Tuesday night, finish on Sunday morning", watched on a laptop or phone, and the FAQ explains that teachers can "Start a course, pause it and pick it up again later." The pitch is that teachers "keep every school day for your class and skip paying hundreds for a single PD day."

To use it, a teacher signs in with a ClassCover teacher profile, which is free and, according to the FAQ, "takes a couple of minutes to set up". Teachers who do not do casual work can switch bookings off and use the profile just for PD and jobs.

Besides on-demand courses, ClassCover Learn runs live PD under the Learn Live name, including free live sessions "on timely topics and practical strategies". Educators with practical strategies to share can apply to present a course, and teachers can e-mail suggestions for topics they would like to see.

Registration and accreditation hours

Every course "is built around the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, so your learning counts towards your accreditation", in the site's words. The FAQ states that online PD can count towards teacher registration in every Australian state, while "Each state sets its own hours and rules", and it links to a page on PD requirements by state.

For New South Wales, the site says "ClassCover Learn is a NESA approved PD provider." The FAQ explains the logging: "At the end of each ClassCover Learn course that counts towards NESA hours, you fill in a short form and we log the hours for you. They can take up to 30 days to appear in your NESA account."

Price, tax and school licenses

There is one individual plan. The Individual teacher membership, marked "Most popular", costs $99 a year and includes:

  • 200+ hours of online teacher PD
  • New courses added regularly
  • Early childhood, primary and secondary
  • Aligned to the Australian Curriculum
  • Annual subscription, cancel anytime

The FAQ calls this "less than 50 cents per hour of PD" and pitches a full year of PD "for less than the cost of a single PD day". On tax it says that PD relating to a teacher's current role "is generally claimable as a work-related tax deduction in Australia, and that includes a ClassCover Learn membership." Members download receipts from their account and are told to check with their tax adviser. For anything else, a support and contact page is linked from the footer, and the FAQ says "Our team is happy to help with anything from your account to finding the right course."

Teachers can try before paying: "ClassCover Learn has free courses, so you can see how the platform works before you join."

School licenses are quoted on request ("Let's talk."), with a register-interest form and the promise to "Give your whole staff access to the full library and keep track of their learning in one place." The FAQ says "Schools with 10 or more staff get discounted ClassCover Learn licences, plus a dashboard to manage access and see progress and reports for every teacher." A school license gives the whole staff the full 200+ hours, with new courses included.

What teachers say

The site repeats four short member comments. Susan: "You come away with tools and knowledge you can use." Leslee-ann: "The quality is excellent because of the professionals who run the courses." Tania: "I can do as much PD as I want for the cost of my subscription." Kelly: "I love that I can do it from bed with a cup of coffee."

Who it suits

ClassCover Learn fits Australian teachers who need steady PD hours without giving up school days or paying for a full-day workshop. NSW teachers get NESA-logged hours with a form at the end of each eligible course. Casual relief teachers already on ClassCover can add PD to the same profile, and early childhood educators have their own collection. Teachers working on neurodiversity, behavior or AI in the classroom will find dedicated topics. Schools with 10 or more staff can put everyone on one license and track progress from a dashboard. Teachers outside Australia will find the content built around Australian standards and registration rules.
