itslearning is a learning management system for schools and colleges, from primary education through higher education and lifelong learning. The home page calls it "An LMS designed for teaching" that "is easy to use, saves time and works for all levels of education." The company describes itself as "a Norwegian company built on a simple belief: good things happen when people work together", and says that "Since 1999, we have grown and learned alongside teachers, using real classroom experience to shape practical tools." The footer reads "© itslearning - a Sanoma company." Its own menu pitches it as "a European LMS designed for education over generic platforms." The reader it serves is a school leader, district or college choosing a platform for teachers and students.
Who it is built for
The site addresses six education levels, each with its own line. Primary education: "Easily create engaging lesson plans, motivate learners and communicate with parents." Secondary education: "Tailor lessons, assignments, and assessments to align with your school's specific goals." Vocational education: "A flexible learning management system for self-paced learning that suits students' lifestyles." Higher education: helping lecturers create customized courses "to improve teaching and learning." Lifelong learning: helping lecturers "easily structure, reuse and share course plans." International schools: "Designed to grow with your school, adaptable, aligned, and ready for what's next."
Plans and lesson planning
The feature the company singles out is Plans, labeled its "Most popular feature". The home page quotes a teacher: "if itslearning is at the heart of education, Plans is at the heart of itslearning." The reason it gives is that Plans "gives students structure and sequence, so they always know exactly what they need to do and when." The lesson-planning tools are there to organize and streamline lessons. A recent blog post is about sharing course templates across multiple sites, and another is a guide to learning objectives in itslearning, "One platform, multiple curriculum lenses", which points to curriculum alignment inside Plans.
Assessment, AI and communication
Assessment covers "Quizzes, surveys and peer assessment for collaboration and critical thinking." The AI Toolkit lets teachers "Generate assignments, tests from a simple prompt", and the company publishes AI Principles: "Using AI to aid learning, with a strict focus on data safety, ethics and privacy." Communication offers "Live announcements, reminders, ensuring a safe and respectful space." Administration is described as "Admin tools that centralise tasks and fit your institution's needs."
The home page sums the platform up under three headings. On ease of use: "Simple to set up and use. itslearning automates your routine tasks, so you can focus on teaching." On efficiency: "From plans to assignments and reports", everything connected in one LMS platform. On students: "Connect with your students", keeping them engaged with positive feedback and personalized education.
Mobile app, integrations and updates
There is a mobile app: "The new app helps teachers and students, with regular updates for a better experience", and two recent blog posts cover what is new in the app for teachers and for students. On integrations, the company says it partners "with top tech experts" to integrate their learning tools into itslearning, with "hundreds of integrations with just one login." The company says it "posts weekly updates with bug fixes and new features for all users", keeps a public product roadmap, and runs an ideas portal where users "Add a new product idea or vote on an existing idea."
Privacy, uptime and pricing
Privacy gets its own page. The menu line reads "You control your data. itslearning ensures privacy for all users, from staff to students", and the footer links to separate GDPR, privacy and accessibility statements. A teacher quoted on the home page, Christina Philippi of Friedrich-Harkort-Schule, says her school "were looking for a uniform, legally compliant communication system and a GDPR-compliant filing system." A service status page gives "real-time and historical data on system performance."
The pricing entry in the menu says only "A full LMS with guaranteed uptime and flexible pricing." No price list appears; the route in is a tailored demonstration. A German line on the home page, "Prüfen Sie HIER, ob Ihre Schule itslearning kostenlos nutzen kann!" (in English, check here whether your school can use itslearning free of charge), invites schools in Germany to check whether they qualify to use it at no cost.
Implementation and support
The company says it will "tailor your LMS with expert support from planning to launch and ongoing improvement", and offers additional services for "training, setup help or integration support". Support provides tools, updates and resources, and a contact route where "a member of itslearning will do their very best to help you." Beyond that there are ebooks, webinars, an educators' collective, a podcast, events and a European Teachers Survey.
The decision guide
The company's LMS selection page offers a free decision guide containing key considerations, steps to choose, a cost analysis of free versus paid solutions, an implementation guide and advice from schools. It lists "8 Factors that signal it's time to switch your LMS", framed against open-source platforms, and claims itslearning offers "comprehensive features 'out of the box'", "dedicated customer support and regular updates", "transparent pricing" and "high reliability and uptime". These are the company's own claims.
Customer stories
The site lists customer stories from Verdener Campus in Niedersachsen (self-paced learning), Gymnasium Mainz-Mombach (personalized learning), Aspero High Schools, College Sainte-Veronique in Belgium, and Oberschule Habenhausen. It says close student follow-up at Metis Upper Secondary School "leads to a 99% graduation rate." Malin Nermark, CEO at Aspero Friskolor, says "The student documentation is what reaches the most roles: students, teachers, guardians, mentors, head teachers, special needs teachers and the principal." Carl-Johan Rosenbröijer of Arcada calls it "A reliable environment, without interruptions or disruptions." Isto Hakala of Central Ostrobothnia Vocational College says teachers who resisted at first are now among its strongest advocates.
Who it suits
itslearning suits a school, district or vocational college, particularly in Europe, that wants one platform where teachers plan in structured sequences, students always see what to do next, assessments and AI-generated tasks sit beside the plan, and parents and staff get announcements in the same place. A school with strict data-protection requirements will find the privacy and GDPR material prominent. It is not a tool for selling courses to the public, and a buyer wanting a price list before a demo will not find one.
