Israel Bible Center (IBC) is an online school for learners who want to study the Bible in its original Jewish context, culture and history. Its home page answers the question of who it is for directly: "For Christians who want to dive into Jewish Studies, or for anyone who wants to learn about ancient history and biblical interpretation." The school was founded by Dr. Eli Lizorkin-Eyzenberg, and its contact details give an address in Ramat Gan, Israel.
The site states its premise in one line, "The Bible does not need to be rewritten, but it needs to be reread", and claims "the most extensive online library of Biblical and Jewish Studies resources in the world." Membership is a subscription that opens the whole library rather than a per-course purchase, and the library is wider than courses alone: it also includes roundtable talks, podcasts and a weekly online magazine.
The course library
The home page advertises "60+ Courses" in a "Constantly Expanding Collection of New Courses", and "Over 400 Hours of Recorded Teaching." Courses are grouped into nine categories: Old Testament, New Testament, The World of the Bible, Creation and Torah Stories, Prophecy and Poetry, Jews and Jesus, Visions of the Divine, Jewish Beliefs and History, and Hebrew Language and Prayer. The popular course categories shown on the home page are Hebrew Literature, New Testament, and Culture and History.
The four courses listed as most popular give a sense of the range and of who teaches. Jewish Insights Into Scripture I is taught by Dr. Eliyahu Lizorkin, The Hebrew Psalms: How To Worship God by Dr. Nicholas J. Schaser, Biblical Hebrew I: First Steps by Pinchas Shir, and The Name of God by Dr. Yeshaya Gruber. That mix covers reading Scripture through Jewish interpretation, the Psalms as worship, an introduction to biblical Hebrew, and a single theological theme studied in depth.
For learners who do not know where to begin, the site has a Learning Paths section alongside the full catalog. The home page describes the teaching approach in four words, "Experienced guides", "In-depth Study", "Jewish Interpretation" and "Biblical Discovery", and promises to walk students "through the Bible in its original context, culture, and history."
How the school works
The "How does it work?" section is short and clear. On signing up, a member gets "unlimited access to our online Biblical courses, which are available on-demand 24/7." The school adds that "We offer educational support and opportunities to connect with other students through the website", and that students can study at their own pace on any device. A later section repeats that the courses are accessible anywhere, on mobile and desktop, so a learner can follow a course from home on a laptop or on a phone.
The format is recorded teaching that a learner works through on demand. There are no fixed class times on the home page, which suits people fitting study around work, ministry or family.
Certificate in Jewish Context and Culture
Beyond individual courses, IBC runs a certificate program. The home page invites learners to "Join Certificate Program in Jewish Context and Culture" and describes the goal as earning the "Certificate in Jewish Context and Culture within One Year." For a learner who wants structure and a defined outcome rather than open browsing, this is the more committed route through the library.
Roundtables, podcasts and the magazine
The roundtable talks are a separate collection. The site invites members to "Sit in on conversations with the world's best Bible teachers!" and names guests including Profs. Robert Alter, Jodi Magness, Paula Fredriksen and Emanuel Tov, with Dr. Yeshaya Gruber as host. The roundtables have their own categories, among them Perspectives on the Bible, Creation and Torah Stories, Prophecy and Poetry, Jews and Jesus and Visions of the Divine.
The podcast is hosted by Dr. Cyndi Parker, who in each episode "sits down with our faculty members" to discuss ancient Jewish literature, history, culture, theology, geography and biblical languages, and how those subjects deepen an understanding of the Bible.
The weekly online magazine adds written material: "Our esteemed professors publish new articles every week". Article categories include Hebrew Literature, Culture and History, and Jewish New Testament. Between the three formats, a member who has finished a course can keep reading and listening in the same subject areas.
Faculty
The school presents its teachers as "Internationally renowned scholars from top universities" and "Dozens of esteemed professors in one place!", and says it collaborates with scholars "from elite universities, including Oxford, Harvard, Berkeley, Tel Aviv, and more!" The course instructors named on the home page are Dr. Eliyahu Lizorkin, Dr. Nicholas J. Schaser, Pinchas Shir and Dr. Yeshaya Gruber, with Dr. Cyndi Parker on the podcast and a separate Faculty page in the menu.
Trial, price and billing
New members start with what the school calls a "7-day FREE scholarship": "100% tuition free scholarship for a week. After that starts from $ /month." The monthly amount itself is left blank on the home page. The free week gives unlimited access to the whole course collection, and a note under the final sign-up button says "*You won't be billed until 7 days after you sign up". The site also links to a Return Policy.
For anyone not ready to sign up, there is a lighter option: "get a FREE sneak peek" by entering an email address, after which the school sends sample lessons "hand-picked by our staff from some of our favorite classes". That offer is labeled "No credit card. No commitment."
What students say
Reviews on the home page each carry a 5/5 rating. Chaplain Paula M. Payne, USAF (Retired), thanks IBC "for keeping it real. For stirring the soul." Joe Dorsey writes "Thank you this was so enlightening! The instructor was great. I am so blessed by this." Karen Fox says "The wealth of knowledge has inspired thoughtfulness and insight and reignited my passion for study of scripture". Two further reviews, from Jana Jones and Ruth Brooks, are video testimonials.
Who it suits
Israel Bible Center suits Christians who want to read the Bible with Jewish history, culture and language in view, and anyone interested in ancient history and biblical interpretation, which is exactly the audience its home page names. It fits pastors, chaplains, teachers and lay readers who want sustained study rather than a single course, and the subscription model rewards someone who will use the whole library, from Biblical Hebrew to the roundtables. Learners who want a formal goal have the one-year certificate.
It is a less natural fit for someone who only wants one short course, since access comes through a monthly subscription, or for a learner who wants live classes with set times, since the teaching is recorded and on demand. The free week is the practical way to judge both the teaching style and the depth before paying.
