Tribal Habits is an Australian learning management system for organizations in Australia and New Zealand that want to build and run their own staff training without a dedicated learning and development team. It combines three things in one subscription: an LMS for enrollment, automation and reporting, a guided course builder, and an editable library of ready-made modules on compliance, safety, leadership and workplace skills. The home page calls it "The trusted Australian LMS" and an LMS "with the lot", and the company describes itself as Australian-owned, locally hosted and built for lean teams with smaller budgets. Its own LMS guide puts the sweet spot at organizations of 50–1000 employees, while saying the platform suits organizations of all sizes. The company trades as Tribal Habits Pty Ltd.
Building training in-platform
The course builder is the center of the product. The home page says anyone in an organization can create training, for staff, customers or volunteers, using a building-block editor with 60+ interactive building blocks; other parts of the site describe 50+ interactions and over 50 interactive layouts. The company's guide lists video, social learning, branching scenarios, observation checklists and interactive assessments among the elements, and the editor includes ready-to-use templates and an image editor for quick visual changes. Because everything is built inside the platform, updates do not need re-uploading, and the home page says the training works on any device and meets WCAG accessibility standards. The LMS guide is more specific: the learner interface and course content meet WCAG 2.2 AA and have been independently audited.
The AI assistant is called Sage AI. The home page says it creates real learning interactions rather than slides, generating quizzes, flipcards, checklists and branching scenarios from your policies, process documents or existing training. You keep control of content and structure, and the page states: "Your data stays private, secure, and never used to train external AI models. AI features are fully optional." The guide adds AI voiceovers and AI course advice and analysis to the list. For organizations moving paper-based training or SOPs online, the guide says the authoring tools convert those documents into interactive training without external course design tools or SCORM packaging.
The ready-made library
The library is the second half of the offer. The home page counts 500+ editable modules covering compliance, soft skills and more, and elsewhere describes over 450 ready-to-use courses on compliance, leadership, communication and personal development, all included with the platform. Every course appears in the customer's own branding and can be used as-is or edited to match how a team works. Compliance topics cover Australian and New Zealand law; the guide says they are reviewed by lawyers in both countries and updated for legislation changes. That pairing of editable content and local law is the product's main point of difference for an employer that needs mandatory training that sounds like its own workplace.
Running and tracking training
On the management side, Tribal Habits automates enrollments, reminders, refreshers, skills and competencies. Admins create enrollment rules once and let them run, use scheduled releases to drip-feed modules over days, weeks or months, and can switch on secure self-enrollment and account creation. Version control, certification tracking, flexible enrollment logic and role-based access keep the records current. If an organization wants it, managers and supervisors can track progress, enroll staff, send reminders and upload training records themselves rather than going through an admin. Blended training is covered too: the platform combines online modules with face-to-face sessions, offline activities and events. The guide adds recertification, learning pathways, rule-based training requirements, social learning and competency mapping.
Reporting is broader than completion. The home page says the platform captures quiz scores, written responses, file uploads, surveys and on-the-job tasks, which it calls "a true picture of learning outcomes, not just ticked boxes." Admins can report on progress by role or skill, manage CPD/CLE points and monitor compliance status across the organization. Customization covers editable courses, branding, URLs and certificates.
Integrations, hosting and security
The home page lists managed integrations with Humanforce HR, foundU, EmployeeConnect, BambooHR, Bob, Workday and Employment Hero to sync users and enrollments or training data, and a Shopify integration that creates and enrolls users automatically when training is sold. Single sign-on works through Microsoft Entra, Okta, Salesforce and more, with what the page calls native SAML 2.0 integration. A Zapier integration connects to 5,000+ apps, and a public API supports custom integrations. The guide says HR, payroll and identity provider integrations are available on Business plans, with SSO included and managed HRIS or payroll sync as an add-on.
Data is hosted on AWS in Sydney, and the guide says all learner data is hosted and processed in Australia. The same guide lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification.
Pricing and support
Pricing is based on active users: the pricing comparison page says only users who log into the portal are counted, and the guide defines an active user as one who logs in at least once in a calendar month, with discounts for larger plans and for not-for-profits. The home page's product data lists per-user monthly prices in Australian dollars on annual billing: AUD 9.50 for the Lite Plan, AUD 8.50 for the Business Plan and AUD 7.97 for the Custom Plan. The pricing comparison page says an Active plan has no set-up, implementation, admin training or branding costs, and no storage fees. A newer Essentials plan, aimed at smaller organizations or those with seasonal or irregular usage, carries a small platform fee billed annually that covers the portal and hosting.
Support is the same on every plan. The pricing comparison page says four admin training sessions are included, and all admins get live chat support, a searchable knowledge base, and email or Microsoft Teams support for complex issues. The home page adds structured onboarding with strategy and admin training sessions, self-paced handbooks and implementation modules, a dedicated Digital Learning Coach, free expert reviews of your early modules, private training sessions and help with content conversion and setup. The guide says the team works Australian business hours.
Who it suits
Tribal Habits suits Australian and New Zealand employers, from small businesses to growing organizations, that need onboarding, SOP and compliance training and have no specialist team to build it. Charities, early learning, engineering, venues and events, law firms, and transport and supply chain businesses appear among its industry pages, and the home page quotes customers at Beepo, Carrol & O'Dea, Cardno, The Lost Dogs Home, Harmony Early Learning and DV Connect. The editable local library, Australian hosting and pricing that only charges for people who log in make it practical for organizations with seasonal or uneven training activity.
The limits are stated by the company itself. Its guide says Tribal Habits is "Not designed for formal accredited training (e.g. RTO assessments)", so registered training organizations running formal vocational assessment are not the target. The library and compliance content are written for Australian and New Zealand law, which is the point for local employers and less useful for organizations elsewhere.
