What Talstack is

Talstack is a people management platform with a learning management system at its core. Its home page describes it as "built for HR and People teams to develop employee skills, manage performance, and improve business outcomes", and its tagline calls it "The people management platform for high performing teams." The site says it is "Trusted by teams across Africa", and the company's blog writes for Nigerian employers in particular.

The product is split into three areas in the site's own menu: Learning, Performance and Core HR. Learning covers a ready-made course catalog, learning paths, course assignment, uploads of a company's own training, and analytics. Performance covers reviews, goals and feedback. Core HR covers employee records and, as the newest addition, time-off management. For the reader of this directory, the learning side is the reason to look: an L&D or HR team gets a library of expert-led courses and the tools to assign and track them, with the rest of the people stack in the same login.

The course catalog and learning paths

The Course Catalogue is the feature that sets Talstack apart from a bare LMS. The site describes it as "Short, expert-led courses with practical insights your team can apply immediately", and a company blog post says the courses come from "experienced operators across Africa" and form "a library of expert content across functional and cross-functional domains." The home page invites companies to "Upskill your managers and employees with our expert-led courses", so the library covers management skills as well as individual ones.

Customer quotes on the home page name some of the courses: one employee finished "Talstack's course on Effective communication", a people operations lead chose a course on handling employee departures, and a team lead completed a "Teams Leaders Training program" and says they "obtained certifications" along the way. The learner quoted on the communication course liked that "each topic was clear, concise and actionable" and that "The interactive exercises were great too and drove the lessons home."

Learning paths group courses into journeys that, in the site's words, "help employees upskill, grow, or transition roles." The home page frames them as a way to "Develop your people into top performers". A path is the tool for a promotion track, an onboarding sequence, or a move into a new role.

Assigning training and tracking it

Assignment is built around managers as much as HR. The site says admins can "Close skill gaps by assigning targeted courses or paths with trackable progress", and can "Assign courses to individuals or teams and track their progress." The blog adds that "managers can assign specific courses directly to their direct reports", and that admins or managers can assign targeted learning "based on skill gaps and role needs." That makes development part of a manager's routine rather than an HR campaign sent to everyone.

Tracking runs through real-time analytics. The home page promises the ability to "Track progress, measure impact, and optimize learning with real-time analytics", and the blog describes tools to "assign content, track completion, monitor engagement, and understand what is working through clear learning analytics." The same post lists "exportable analytics" among the platform's strengths, which helps a team that reports learning figures to leadership outside the system.

Uploading a company's own training

Talstack is not limited to its own library. Companies can "Upload and manage your internal training with our built-in course creation tools", and the home page says teams can "Upload private training content and quizzes for your employees." The blog describes this as hosting proprietary content "directly through Talstack's native LMS capabilities", so internal policies, product training and onboarding material sit next to the bought-in expert courses, assigned and tracked the same way.

Performance, goals and feedback

The Performance area extends the platform past learning. Reviews are "structured, flexible reviews tailored to your company's style and goals", and the site says a company can "Set up flexible performance reviews for any cycle or cadence" to identify strengths and development areas. The home page lists "360° performance reviews" alongside company-wide goals, feedback and surveys. Goals are there to "Align teams with clear goals that connect daily work to the bottom line", and feedback lets people "Capture feedback from teammates and managers" in order to "build trust, self-awareness, and continuous improvement." Performance Reviews were announced on the home page as the "next chapter" of the product.

The link to learning is practical: a review that identifies a development area can be followed by a course or path assigned in the same system.

Core HR and time off

The Core HR area holds an HRIS to "Manage employee records, documents and core people processes." A banner across the site introduces Time Off, which handles "leave requests, policies, balances and team availability", including approvals, and is described as helping to "support compliance." With these, a growing company can run records, leave, reviews and training from one platform.

What customers say

The home page carries named customer quotes. Mayowa Okengbenle, a chief executive, says: "I can see obvious improvement on the general performance of my employees on Talstack specifically around areas where there were previously gaps." Yemi Ogunlade, an executive vice president, writes: "I would consider the training as value for money in terms of cost, convenience and impact." Anita Eboigbe, chief of staff, says The Big Cabal Media Excellence Catalyst Program uses Talstack "to enhance accountability and provide real-life examples from accomplished African operators" as part of a tiered leadership development program.

Pricing, trial and support

The home page carries no prices; a Pricing link sits in the main menu. Visitors can sign up, "Try for free" or request a demo, and the closing call to action reads "Speak to an expert today." Resources include FAQs, a blog on people, productivity and the future of work, and events: "Live sessions, workshops, and in-person meetups for HR and People leaders."

Who it suits

Talstack suits a growing company in Africa whose HR team wants ready-made, practical courses for managers and staff, taught by experienced operators across Africa, and who would rather run training, reviews, goals and leave in one place than stitch together separate tools. The manager-led assignment model fits a company that wants line managers to own their teams' development.

The caveat is scope. Talstack is a people platform with a learning core, not a tool for selling courses to the public, and a company that already has a dedicated HR system may only need part of what it offers. The catalog is the main attraction, so a buyer should browse it after signing up through "Try for free" to judge whether its topics match the skills the team needs.
