Rexx Systems

Tap a star to rate

Rexx Systems is a German HR software company, and its Learning Management System is one module of the wider Rexx Suite, sold to companies that want training administration inside the same system as their personnel files, recruiting and talent management. It is for HR and personnel development teams rather than course creators: the English LMS page promises "an up-to-date overview of all advanced training sessions of your specialist and management staff, including the costs and the dates." The headquarters is in Hamburg, with offices in Vienna and Zurich. The German LMS page says the product suits mid-sized companies and corporations with 50 to 50,000 employees, and the home page counts more than 3,000 customers in over 30 countries.

Where the LMS sits in the suite

Rexx organizes its software into personnel management, recruiting and talent management. Learning Management belongs to the talent management group, alongside employee appraisals, management by objectives, 360-degree feedback, a performance and potential matrix, employee development, skill management, e-learning, succession planning and onboarding. The home page describes the approach in four steps: choose the modules you need; plan the introduction with Rexx consultants, who set up the system, align processes and transfer the key data; add modules as the company grows; and give staff mobile access through the Rexx Go app. A company can therefore start with training administration and add skill management or appraisals later, without moving to another system.

Running training events

The center of the module is what Rexx calls the digital event file. An administrator enters the details of a seminar, course or e-learning event there and, with one click, publishes it in the employee portal for booking by self-service. The event list shows every planned event, its status and the number of participants, and the German page notes that its columns, fields and filters can be configured through the suite's "search&list engine". Rexx describes this as seminar management for both classroom events and e-learning, so in-person courses run by outside providers and online courses live in the same list.

Employees can apply to attend a training session through the self-service portal at any time. A defined workflow collects the required approvals, and the training budget allocated to that employee is monitored automatically along the way. Administrators manage seminar providers and speakers in the software, and staff can be set up as internal speakers next to external ones. Once someone is invited or confirms, their status in the event list changes with one click, and an administrator can see which employees already plan to take part or add others by hand.

After the course: feedback, effectiveness and certificates

Rexx puts weight on what happens once a training ends. Participants receive a survey afterward to rate the speaker and the delivery, so HR can evaluate results and adjust the offer. The German page adds that managers are automatically reminded to carry out effectiveness checks after a seminar.

An automatic reminder function addresses skills that fade over time: the software proposes learning for each employee to restore the skill or knowledge, taking mandatory events into account and, where relevant, a required order of courses. When an employee completes a training, the LMS automatically creates a certificate, which can be freely designed, and files it in that person's digital personnel file. For external courses that run only through the seminar management, participants can upload certificates issued elsewhere through a workflow, so the record stays complete.

The Rexx E-Learning Shop

For companies that do not want to build their own e-learning, Rexx runs a shop of verified course templates that can be selected inside the Rexx application, tried as a demo and then used for e-learning events. The English page says the shop "already offers more than 100 courses", with an expansion to over 800 courses planned. Content covers legal basics, current topics and exam preparation for apprenticeships. Some courses sponsored by Rexx are free, for example on the use of AI and the EU AI Act, and many others are sold "at attractive prices". The licensing terms are spelled out: course templates are bought once and can then be used "without participant limits for this specific version within Rexx." After purchase they appear in the Rexx e-learning templates straight away.

Security, hosting and integrations

The German LMS page lists the requirements the module meets: ISO 27001:2022 certification from development through project rollout to operation, compliance with the EU GDPR, data centers in Germany and Switzerland, a choice of cloud or on-premises operation, more than 30 languages, and multi-client capability. In the cloud version Rexx handles operation, updates and monitoring, and the home page says data sits in ISO-certified data centers in Germany and Europe. A company with its own rules for operation or security can have Rexx installed on its own servers and keep technical control with the full feature set.

The FAQ names standard interfaces to payroll and ERP systems such as DATEV, ADP/Paisy and SAP, plus an open API for custom connections. The Rexx Go app gives employees and managers mobile self-service for times, absences, documents and signatures. The suite also has an AI assistant, Rai, which helps HR with analyses, summaries and research tasks.

Pricing, trial and support

The German menu links to a pricing page, and the home page offers a free expert consultation. The FAQ says anyone without access can request a demo or a test environment through the contact form. The English footer says customer service is available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The company describes itself as one of the leading providers in the German-speaking region, with more than 20 years on the market according to the LMS page and over 25 years according to the home page. A training coordinator at Aerzener Maschinenfabrik is quoted on the German LMS page saying the company uses the integrated LMS so staff can learn flexibly regardless of time and place, with all documents stored centrally.

Who it suits

Rexx fits a mid-sized or large company in Germany, Austria or Switzerland that wants training administration joined up with its HR processes: approvals and budgets, a booking portal, certificates filed in the personnel record, and skills and appraisals in the same suite. Its strength is the administration of a training program, including classroom seminars bought from outside providers. It is not a course authoring tool; the e-learning shop exists precisely so customers can add content without authoring software. A company that only needs to publish a few online courses, without the HR suite around them, will be paying for structure it does not use.
