mElimu

Tap a star to rate

mElimu is a learning management system for colleges and universities, companies, NGOs and government bodies, and healthcare employers, sold as a SaaS platform with a demo and setup on request. The home page headlines it as the "First Ever AI-Based Learning Management System" and says the company is focused on providing "a cost-effective, responsive and mobile-friendly eLearning platform that is easy to use." The company lists its headquarters in Noida, India, with further offices in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Nairobi in Kenya, Johannesburg in South Africa and Bethesda, Maryland, in the United States, and its location selector groups its markets into India, South Africa, MENA, East Africa, Asia Pacific and West Africa. A banner on the site announces that the company is rebranding and welcomes visitors to MapleLMS, so the product may also appear under that name.

What an organization or school gets

The home page lists the feature areas: a user-friendly interface, gamification, virtual classroom, SCORM and Tin Can API support, analytics reports, multilingual support, blended learning, eCommerce, competencies, iLearn, extended enterprise, learning paths, mobile apps, social learning, and a platform described as fully customizable. The regional page for the Philippines describes many of these in more depth.

Day-to-day administration centers on course management: admins create and manage courses, categorize them, enroll users and pull reports, and the Philippines page says routine tasks can be automated to reduce the burden on admins and teachers. Microlearning covers bite-sized courses that are quick to take. Learners get a personal calendar that can sync with the LMS and list their upcoming appointments. The platform supports both fully online and blended delivery, with virtual classrooms for live sessions, and the interface is described as easy to navigate for users with less technical knowledge.

On content standards, the Philippines page says the LMS "supports the latest versions of SCORM, xAPI, or AICC standards" for delivering interactive online learning content, and a separate Tin Can/xAPI section explains that the platform uses xAPI so that content and learning platforms can talk to each other. Content packaged to those standards can therefore be delivered and tracked inside mElimu.

Assessment is a strong part of the offer. The home page says organizations can conduct online and proctored assessments, track learner progress, performance and course progress, and generate reports and analytics for actionable insights. The Philippines page describes everything from learning delivery to reporting and analytics, online assessment and certification exams as available in one package. Gamification awards points, badges and certificates after the successful completion of a course or module, and the advanced reporting is pitched at tracking and measuring the impact of learning programs on the business.

For learners, the pitch is engagement. The Philippines page describes a personalized and gamified LMS that offers an immersive learning experience, with points and badges to keep people moving through courses and microlearning for those who only have a few minutes. Social learning sits among the home page features as well, and the home page frames the overall aim as transforming legacy learning into programs that are tracked and reported on.

The AI feature personalizes learning by offering each learner relevant courses based on their role. mElimu calls itself a mobile-first, responsive and interactive platform, and the Philippines page says learners can even learn offline in the mobile app and continue from anywhere. Multiple-language support is part of the pitch for students, employees and members alike.

Integrations, single sign-on and branding

The Philippines page says ERPs, CRMs, AMSs, SIS, HRMS and a wide range of other applications can be integrated with the LMS, and names Salesforce among the CRMs it is compatible with. Single sign-on lets users log into the LMS with the same authentication they already use for other systems in their company. White-labeling covers both the LMS and branded mobile apps; the page says this helps with learner retention and lets a customer resell the LMS to partners and affiliates under its own branding. Under learning suite scalability, the company offers to enable new integrations, services and extensions as a customer's learning program grows.

Products and sectors

Besides the core learning management system, the product menu lists Online Admission & Registration, a Salesforce LMS for training teams that work in Salesforce, and GoPlugg. The solutions section names six audiences: higher education, where the site calls the product the "Best eLearning LMS for Higher Education"; corporates, for employee training and skill development; NGOs and governments, for staff and volunteer training; skill development for students and staff; healthcare, for continuing education of medical staff; and Salesforce users. The industry menu adds banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) and non-profits as dedicated pages.

For schools and universities, the admission and registration product, student-facing features such as gamification and the mobile app, and the process automation for teachers make mElimu more than a corporate training tool. For companies, the extended enterprise feature, competencies and the role-based course recommendations point at employee and partner training.

The regional pages show how the company sells by market. The Philippines page presents an LMS designed exclusively for the Philippines, with learning programs specially designed for Filipino customers, and describes the product there as a personalized and gamified SaaS-based LMS.

Pricing and buying

The site publishes no prices; every page routes buyers to a demo request or a "Get Your Own LMS Setup" form. The case on cost is qualitative: the home page calls the platform cost-effective, and the Philippines page describes its programs as cost-effective, engaging and interactive. Setup, integrations and extensions are discussed with the company as part of that process.

Who it suits

mElimu suits institutions and organizations in the markets where it has offices and regional pages, particularly universities and colleges, skill development programs, NGOs training staff and volunteers, and healthcare employers running continuing education. Its mix of proctored assessments, certification exams, competencies and certificates fits programs where learners need to prove what they learned. Organizations that already run Salesforce have a dedicated product, those that want to resell training under their own brand get white-labeled apps, and learners on mobile can keep studying offline in the app.

The caveats are practical. Pricing is quote-only, so comparing it with other systems takes a sales conversation, and the rebrand to MapleLMS means buyers may see two names for the same product. Small teams that want a self-serve tool with a public price list will find the demo-led process slower than they would like.
