What MangoApps Training is
MangoApps is an employee platform for companies with large frontline workforces, and Training is its learning management app. The training page sums up the idea in one line: "Author the course, assign it by role or location, and workers finish it on their phones," with completions flowing "straight into compliance reports, reviews, and the scheduling engine." Training sits in the Performance & Learning suite next to performance reviews and skills, and it shares one login, one mobile app and one employee record with the rest of the platform: intranet and communications, shift scheduling, time and attendance, tasks, HR records, safety and compliance, and IT service.
The company's pitch is that most work software is built for desk staff. Its home page says roughly 70-80% of the world's workforce, which it puts at 2.7 billion frontline workers, does not work at a desk, and describes MangoApps as built "from day one for employees with no desk, no corporate email, no laptop." The site says the platform has been running "Since 2008" and is used by "2 million+ users."
Building courses
Course authoring is built in. Lessons can be text, documents, quizzes, directly uploaded video, or video embedded from YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Wistia and Bunny CDN. Quizzes are auto-graded, and the spec list gives the question types as multiple-choice, true/false and multiple-select. Learning paths sequence courses into a compliance track with prerequisites.
Existing e-learning can come in too. The FAQ says a SCORM 1.2/2004, xAPI, cmi5 or AICC package can be uploaded as a lesson and "plays natively inside Training, with no external player service," with each learner's progress, score and bookmark recorded. Because an imported course reports its own completion, MangoApps suggests pairing it with a quiz lesson or a mastery score when an independent check is needed. External LMS and content integrations run through Training Connect and supported partners.
Assigning training automatically
The main time saver is rule-based enrollment. Assignment rules work by role, location and cohort, and the spec list names four auto-enrollment rule types: new hire, role-based, scheduled and certificate expiry. When an employee joins, changes roles or is added to a cohort, the right courses are assigned without an administrator stepping in. The page gives a typical case: HR sets rules so "every new hire in the warehouse is assigned safety and compliance courses on day one."
Enrollment draws on the HR system. The page says role, location, hire date and licenses "come from the live HRIS," so required training assigns by role and renews on the right calendar. Identity is shared with the platform, with SAML/OIDC single sign-on, MFA and SCIM provisioning covering every learner.
The learner side
Frontline staff use the same app they already open for shifts, pay and chat. On iOS and Android, mobile web views let learners browse the catalog, open lessons and resume where they stopped, and push notifications and reminders prompt completion. One limit is stated plainly in the FAQ: "Offline course completion is not the default model; learners need connectivity for progress to save." Course launches, refresher campaigns and completion nudges go out through the platform's communications channels, and course discussions and peer questions can live in the same chat employees already use.
Compliance and certifications
Certification tracking is a core function. Administrators set expiration dates per course and per employee, the system tracks renewals and sends reminders before a certificate expires, and reports show "who completed what and when." The page promises that when an audit comes, the data is "one click away." Digital certificates, completion records and renewal cycles are built in, and enrollments, completions and certificate grants land in the platform's audit log.
Reporting covers an enrollment report (status, progress, due dates), a completion report (quiz score, certificate number), and manager and admin dashboards showing completion rates, at-risk learners, certification status and ROI signals across teams and locations. A quiz performance report shows score distribution and per-question pass rates.
How Training connects to the rest of MangoApps
This is what separates Training from a standalone LMS. Completions and certifications appear in performance reviews and development plans. They update the skills inventory automatically. Schedulers "see who has valid certifications before assigning safety-critical shifts," and expired certificates are flagged for renewal. Onboarding workflows trigger day-one and 30-day learning paths, a peer-learning app called Skill Swap hands popular topics to formal training, and the Recognition app lets teammates celebrate certifications and milestones. The site's summary is that "A completion can trigger a credential grant, a manager recognition prompt, a scheduler-eligibility update, or a performance note."
AI features
Training AI covers "Personalized Learning Recommendations, Compliance Gap Detection, and Course Authoring Assistance." The page says it "generates courses from policies, recommends paths from real review and skill data, and answers learner questions," governed by the same permissions as other people records, and that it can draft course summaries. Across the platform, the home page describes named agents inside each workflow, including a Skills Agent inside learning, plus AI translation to reach employees in their own language.
Industries
The page lists training uses by sector: annual mandatory training and credential renewals in healthcare; safety, lockout/tagout and equipment training in manufacturing, including low-connectivity plant sites; onboarding, product launches and seasonal programs in retail; continuing-education hours and regulatory updates in financial services; ethics refreshers with FedRAMP-eligible deployment in the public sector; and brand standards and food-safety certifications in hospitality.
Security and deployment
The home page lists "HITRUST + SOC 2 Type II + ISO 27001," plus "FedRAMP ATO, HIPAA, and GDPR," and says the platform can be deployed as SaaS, private cloud, customer VPC or on-premise. The site lists 200+ integrations, including Microsoft, Google and HRIS systems.
Customers
MangoApps says it has been "Rolled out to every employee at AutoZone (125,000), PetSmart (50,000+), A.S. Watson and Raley's (20,000)." The training page quotes Roberta Raffety, Content Manager at Great Harvest Bread Company: "The first thing we do for a new franchisee is send them directly to MangoApps' LMS." Tiffany Anderson, Vice President of HR at Huitt-Zollars, says that before MangoApps "we didn't really have a learning management system," and that getting a new LMS module "has been a very big step for the company." The company cites an NPS of 78 and a 98% customer retention rate.
Pricing and trial
The training page prints no price list. It says training is covered by "One per-employee suite license," and the menu offers "All Employee Suites" at "Every employee suite, one price," with separate Plans & Pricing pages. Teams can start a suite free with "10 seats · 14 days free · $0 today," and after a demo request MangoApps offers a workspace that is free for 14 days, with no card, while it prepares a proposal. The site also describes an Adoption Guarantee: "if employees don't adopt after launch, you don't pay."
Who it suits
MangoApps Training suits companies with many hourly, shift or field employees who need compliance training on their phones, especially in retail, healthcare, manufacturing and hospitality, and who want training to drive scheduling, reviews and skills rather than sit in a separate system. It makes most sense for organizations that also want the rest of the platform, or already run it. A team looking only for a standalone course builder should weigh that the LMS is sold as part of a wider employee suite, and that learners need a connection for progress to save.
