What Mandatory Training is

Mandatory Training, which trades as The Mandatory Training Group, is a UK company that does two things for regulated employers and training providers. It sells online courses, mainly statutory, mandatory and compliance training, and it sells the software to run and evidence that training: ComplyPlus LMS, a learning management system, and ComplyPlus TMS, a training management system. The footer names the legal entity as LearnPac Systems UK Ltd, trading as The Mandatory Training Group, with an address at the University Technology Park in Coventry. The company's guide to UK learning systems says ComplyPlus "was developed by The Mandatory Training Group's parent company, LearnPac Systems."

The sectors it serves are clear from the site's menus and product pages: health and social care, education and early years, schools, charities and corporate teams. The ComplyPlus TMS page names the regulators its customers answer to, saying health and social care providers can "Ensure your team meets CQC, HSE, and NHS compliance standards," and that education and early years organizations can "Align with Ofsted and safeguarding regulations."

The course catalog

The e-learning menu shows the breadth of the catalog: mandatory training bundles, health and social care, Train the Trainer, childcare and EYFS, resuscitation, first aid, safeguarding, health and safety, moving and handling, clinical skills, mental health, fire safety and business essentials. There are bundles for health and social care providers and for individual professionals, practical (face-to-face) courses, free courses, Care Certificate training, refresher courses and content for schools and colleges. Services listed in the footer include e-learning for NHS providers, mandatory and statutory packages, and ComplyPlus for NMC revalidation, plus an e-learning reseller option.

The company groups its digital courses into pathways. Its guide describes "Online statutory and mandatory training courses" for "induction, refresher and compliance learning across common workforce roles," business compliance e-learning for workplace compliance, governance and risk, corporate e-learning for teams and managers, education, training and assessor courses for trainers and assessors, and "CPD-accredited online courses" for recognized continuing professional development. The same guide points readers to the company's CPD Certification Service provider profile.

ComplyPlus LMS

ComplyPlus LMS is the platform for online learning and compliance records. The company's guide describes it as the tool "For managing learner completion, refresher cycles, training records, certificates, reports and workforce assurance evidence." Its summary table lists the strengths as "Compliance reporting, learner tracking, refresher cycles, audit-ready evidence, multi-tenant delivery and integrated AI Assistant," and says it is suited to health and social care, early years, schools, charities, local government and regulated training providers.

Multi-tenant delivery matters for training providers who serve several employers. The guide says ComplyPlus LMS and its multi-tenant LMS software "can support separate learner groups, client-level reporting, branded delivery, role-based assignments, and scalable training oversight." It also notes an integrated AI Assistant, and that ComplyPlus LMS "explicitly" promotes support plans. The TMS page adds that the LMS gives access to "a library of CPD-accredited training courses," lets administrators customize learning pathways for different roles and teams, and tracks outcomes and compliance with built-in reporting.

ComplyPlus TMS

ComplyPlus TMS handles the scheduled side of training. The company describes it as a system to schedule, track and improve training processes for organizations in regulated sectors such as health and social care, education, early years and corporate industries. Its feature tabs cover:

  • Scheduling. "Effortlessly schedule classroom, virtual, or e-learning sessions," with automated reminders to trainers and learners and resource allocation tools for training logistics.
  • Compliance tracking and reporting. Real-time monitoring of training compliance, detailed reports "for audits and inspections," and tracking of renewals and deadlines.
  • Learner management. Enrollment into sessions, personal dashboards to follow individual progress, and batch enrollment for large groups.
  • Multi-modal delivery. Support for instructor-led training, e-learning and blended learning, integration with ComplyPlus LMS, and the option to upload and track external training records for a complete compliance view.
  • Certification management. Digital certificates issued automatically on completion, certificate expiry reminders and customizable certificate templates for branding.

The FAQ adds that the TMS supports organizations with multiple locations, scheduling sessions across sites and tracking compliance locally and centrally; that reports and dashboards can be customized; that it is fully responsive on phones and tablets; and that it "uses industry-standard encryption and security protocols." It can run standalone or alongside another LMS, and the company says ComplyPlus LMS is "included for free" with a TMS subscription.

The wider ComplyPlus family

ComplyPlus extends beyond learning. The guide points providers in regulated sectors to ComplyPlus regulatory compliance management software, ComplyPlus policies and procedures, and a ComplyPlus CQC compliance system, so that "training evidence, policies, audits, action plans and governance records are not managed in isolation." The menu also lists a ComplyPlus CPD Tracker, and recent posts cover ComplyPlus policy sets for domiciliary care, early years, children's homes, healthcare and supported living.

How the company advises buyers

The company's own guide to choosing an LMS shows how it thinks about the problem. It urges providers to start with the question "What must the system prove, not just what must it deliver?" and to test any platform on real scenarios: "Test registration, course access, forgotten passwords, mobile use, certificates and support queries," and "Ask what reports a client, regulator, manager, or commissioner would actually need." For recurring training, it says a good LMS "should support reminders, reassignments, expiry management and ongoing customer value." Those are the functions ComplyPlus is built around.

Pricing, demos and support

The pages do not list prices for ComplyPlus. The TMS page offers a free demo ("Book a FREE Demo"), and its FAQ answers the trial question by pointing to that demo. The guide's contact form invites organizations to start a ComplyPlus trial. Courses are sold through an online shop with a basket. Phone support is available Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5PM, and the TMS FAQ says it suits small businesses as well as large organizations.

Who it suits

Mandatory Training suits UK employers and training providers in health and social care, early years, schools and other regulated settings who want their course catalog and their compliance records from one supplier. Care providers and NHS suppliers can buy statutory and CPD-accredited courses and track them in ComplyPlus LMS. Training companies that run classroom and virtual sessions for many clients can use ComplyPlus TMS for scheduling, attendance and certificates, with the LMS included. The caveat is focus: the product family is built around UK regulators and evidence of compliance, so a company outside those settings will use a fraction of what it offers, and prices come only after a demo.
