HealthStaffEd is an Australian company that sells two things to healthcare employers: ready-to-deploy eLearning libraries and a learning management system called the HSE LMS. The home page describes the offer as "ready to deploy eLearning libraries of 100s of hours of interactive courses along with a full service Learning Management System (LMS)", built for the healthcare environment and ready to roll out to a whole team. The LMS page goes further and calls the HSE LMS "the first Australian designed Learning management system built specifically to meet the needs of healthcare providers." The company trades as HealthStaffEd Pty Ltd, with a postal address in Leichhardt, NSW.

What the product is

The reader here is a healthcare service provider's training, education or compliance lead: someone who has to make sure every staff member has completed mandatory training, keep certifications current, onboard new starters and prove all of it when asked. HealthStaffEd answers that with content and software from one supplier. The home page sums up the LMS with "Balancing comprehensive learning management with simple to use tools" and says it is "loaded with features that streamline the management of everyone’s training." An organization can use the libraries inside the HSE LMS, and the feature list also mentions integrating the HealthStaffEd library with another LMS, so a provider that already runs its own system can take the content on its own.

The site says its eLearning covers "learning for everyone no matter what the role", with compliance, accreditation, onboarding and role-specific learning "accessible from any device anytime." All training is developed in Australia for the Australian healthcare environment, according to the home page.

What you actually get

Learning pathways. Administrators group training into pathways. The LMS page gives three examples of how they are used: onboarding new employees with their critical learning package, assigning essential workplace health and safety courses to every employee, and assigning specific learning, tasks and documents to a specialty group. Staff then manage their assigned learning from a personalized dashboard, and a training tracker shows each user where they stand.

Tasks and documents. Pathways are not limited to courses. Documents and tasks can be added to a pathway, which the company presents as a way to cover all eLearning and compliance needs in one place. For a clinical team, that means a policy to read or a practical task can sit in the same pathway as the online module that teaches it.

Mandatory and compliance training. The LMS feature list names assigning and monitoring mandatory training, compliance training, onboarding and certification compliance tracking. A separate feature group covers accreditation, compliance and risk management, which is the reporting side a provider needs when an accreditation review comes around.

Live and face-to-face learning. Not all healthcare training happens on a screen. The Live Learning feature lets administrators create activities, invite and enroll participants, manage invitations and enrollments, run blended learning activities and issue certificates. Face-to-face training is listed among the core LMS features.

Team managers. Managers do not have to wait on a central administrator. The LMS page says team managers can create their own learning teams, assign learning tasks, set timelines, and monitor and track completion. They can also involve their team in designing its learning pathways, generate team learning reports and send those reports to the people who need them.

Your own content. In-house modules and customized training can be uploaded at any time, and the LMS page names SCORM and xAPI modules. A provider with existing courses built in an authoring tool can run them next to the HealthStaffEd libraries.

Reports. The reporting system is described as fully customizable, letting administrators decide what data they want and when. Reports and analytics appear again in the feature list, alongside certificate management.

Structure and branding. The feature list includes Teams and Tenants, which suits organizations that run several sites or services, plus white labeling so the platform can carry the organization's own branding. Learners get an ePortfolio, and the platform supports communications between members and admins.

Integrations. The LMS feature list names SSO and HR system integrations, and the site has a separate partners and integrations section.

Content, hosting and security

The libraries are the other half of the product. The home page calls them "current, relevant and learner focussed training to meet your workforce needs" and says HealthStaffEd provides "100s of hours" of interactive content. The feature list includes accredited certificates, and "Nationally Accredited" appears among the additional mentions on the home page. The pages do not name the accrediting body, so a provider that needs a specific recognition should ask which courses it covers.

Hosting and security get their own sections. The company says it is "100% Australian made and owned" and runs on "Australian based, dedicated cloud infrastructure and guaranteed 99.99% uptime." It says all data "is stored and managed consistent with all the requirements of current Australian Standards as specified by the Australian Government Guidelines for Cryptography", that it is proud of a 100% security track record, and that Australian standards are "not only met but exceeded." On capacity, the site says customers do not need to worry about IT infrastructure, bandwidth or speed, because its systems automatically scale up resources when needed.

Getting started

The site offers a free demo and a contact form for discussing needs, and says that conversation is obligation free. The form asks for name, organization and position, and the company says it typically responds within 1-2 business days. The site navigation includes a pricing section and a "Tech Stuff" page for technical buyers.

Who it suits

HealthStaffEd fits Australian healthcare providers that want ready-made, locally developed training and a system to assign and track it, from a single supplier. The combination of mandatory training management, certification tracking, live learning and team-level reporting covers the everyday work of a health service's education team, and the libraries mean a provider can start without commissioning content first. Organizations with several sites can use teams and tenants, and those with a strong brand can white-label the platform.

Providers that already run an LMS they like have the option of taking only the library. Australian data hosting and the security statements will matter to services handling staff records under local standards. The product is built around Australian healthcare, so it is a training system for employers, not a place to sell courses to the public.
