What Frontier e-HR's LMS is

Frontier e-HR's Learning Management System is the training module of Frontier e-HR, a cloud HR and payroll suite sold by Frontier e-HR Pte Ltd. The company calls itself "Singapore's leading cloud HRMS and payroll solutions company", says it has been operating since 2000, and runs a Singapore site alongside a Malaysian one. The LMS is for HR and training teams inside companies: the LMS page says it lets organizations deliver, track and manage employee training, e-learning courses and on-the-job training programs from a single cloud platform.

That framing matters for a buyer. This is not a course storefront or a standalone catalog. It is the learning part of an HR system, sitting next to payroll, leave, claims, time attendance, recruitment and performance appraisal, and its main selling point is that training records and HR records live in one place. The company says it serves organizations from SMEs to enterprises, and its home page names clients in more than 20 countries, including APAC, the US and the EU.

Planning training: needs analysis and learning plans

The LMS starts from what employees need rather than from a course list. A Learning Needs Analysis is used to "Utilize the right training budgets to the right training needs of staff", identifying individual needs through competency gaps, a career matrix, organization goals and prerequisites. From that analysis the system builds individual learning plans and what the site calls "an accurate and efficient formation of total company training blueprint."

That blueprint takes the form of the Total Department and Company Learning Plan (TCLP), which the system can auto-disseminate to the right people in the organization. A course directory holds the training on offer, and competency and skills mapping links each course to the abilities it is meant to build. Learning paths can be configured, and the site says the system can "cultivate smart learning paths" for employees and "link learning directly to competencies."

Delivering and enrolling

Frontier e-HR supports blended learning that combines online and classroom training, along with e-learning course delivery. On-the-job training is handled too: OJT management appears in the LMS feature list, and the company sells a separate On-The-Job Training Management System within the same suite.

Enrollment can happen online from three directions, by staff, by managers and by administrators. Administrators handle the logistics from one central place, and the site says they can "effortlessly administer registrations, withdrawals, waiting lists, cancellations and mass enrolments." That list is useful for companies that still run scheduled classroom sessions with limited seats, where waiting lists and withdrawals are a real part of the workload.

The system leans on automation. The site describes "comprehensive automation settings to the entire learning management process: such as workflows, notifications, reminders, rules based enforcement, etc." In practice that means approval flows, reminders and enforcement rules are configured once rather than chased by hand.

Measuring results

Reporting comes as a "Ready-to-use library of reports and analysis", covering training hours, courses, progress, course completion and scores. A pre-course and post-course evaluation framework is built in so HR can analyze the return on money spent on staff training. The site also says the LMS reduces the administration burden with "comprehensive decision support information."

The strongest link is to performance management. The LMS is fully integrated with the Talent Management System, "connecting training outcomes directly to performance appraisals and career development planning." The company's talent suite covers the Performance Appraisal System, the LMS, a recruitment system and the OJT system, with continuous coaching and feedback sessions and a 360-degree peer view. In the site's words, the LMS "provides HR with a holistic view of employee's performance and learning requirements, hence allowing HR to create and deliver a learning plan easily."

Deployment, security and integrations

Frontier e-HR is sold both as a subscription (SAAS) and as an on-premises model, where the client buys a software license and hosts the application internally. The home page says SMEs tend to use the hosted solution while larger enterprises may host the system in-house and integrate it with other subsystems.

There are two editions. HR Entrée is a simplified HRMS suited to SMEs, offered as SAAS with a lower investment commitment, built from off-the-shelf features so it can be implemented within a short timeline, and it can be integrated with the Xero accounting system. The Enterprise solution comes on premises or as SAAS, supports integrations with accounting systems, applicant tracking systems and global HRMS platforms, and can be customized. For general ledger work, the company says it can produce 2 different interface files for payroll and expenses when the templates differ.

On security, Frontier e-HR says it is ISO 27001 certified and that its HRIS software undergoes regular penetration and vulnerability tests. It also claims full MOM and CPF compliance. The HRMS is described as configurable for various statutory requirements and as having multi-language and multi-currency capabilities, which matters for groups running regional operations through one platform.

Software updates cover regulatory updates, such as a change in CPF percentage, plus system enhancements and bug fixes, and the company says it releases more than 200 feature enhancements a year.

Plans, grants and support

The site publishes no prices; buyers go through an inquiry form and a consultant. What it does publish is grant support: Singapore SMEs can qualify for up to 50% Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) support for adopting Frontier e-HR, which is listed as a Pre-Approved Solution under IMDA's SMEs Go Digital program. The LMS page says companies can qualify for that IMDA PSG support for LMS adoption as part of the HRMS platform.

For training on the system itself, the company runs regular public classes on a published schedule, and brochures can be downloaded from the site. The LMS page shows 150,000 users, 1,000 organizations and over 30 countries under a heading about its HR management system. Google reviews shown on the page praise the support team: one reviewer writes "Been using this system for almost 2.5 years. No major issue faced so far. It has user-friendly interface and the system performs well with minimal downtime. Very prompt and helpful system support."

The company lists industry solutions for hospitality and F&B, NGOs, banking and finance, and construction, and says it has developed specific features for retail and supermarkets, shipping and logistics, and healthcare.

Who it suits and who it does not

Frontier e-HR's LMS suits Singapore and Malaysian companies that already run, or plan to run, their HR and payroll on Frontier e-HR and want training to sit in the same system. HR teams that plan training from competency gaps, report hours and completions to management, and feed results into appraisals get a direct path from need to plan to record. Companies with classroom sessions and waiting lists, and those running structured on-the-job training, are well covered. Singapore SMEs eligible for the PSG grant can have up to 50% of adoption costs supported.

It is a weaker fit for a company that only wants a standalone course library or a place to sell courses to the public. The LMS is described as part of an HR suite, and buyers who already have another HRMS would be adopting a training module whose main advantage is its link to Frontier e-HR's own appraisal and talent modules.
