What ELMO Learning is
ELMO Learning is the learning management system inside ELMO, an HR, payroll and workforce management platform that the company says is built for Australia's mid-market. The product FAQ describes it as "a Learning Management System designed for Australian and New Zealand HR and L&D teams to deliver, automate, and track all employee training and compliance in one place." The reader it serves is the HR or L&D team at a mid-sized organization that has to keep staff trained, certified and audit-ready.
The LMS sits beside ELMO's other modules: HR Core, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, rostering and time and attendance, performance, career development, succession and workforce design. You can look at it as a stand-alone LMS, but the pitch on every page is that learning data flows into the rest of the employee record. The homepage says ELMO is designed for Australia by local experts for 20+ years, and the learning page carries the line "Trusted by 2,000+ organisations across Australia and New Zealand".
Assigning and tracking training
Compliance automation is the core of the product. Training can be auto-assigned by role, department or location, so a new starter in a given job gets the right courses without someone enrolling them by hand. The system tracks completions and certification expiry dates and can assign mandatory renewals when a qualification lapses. Automated email reminders chase people who have not finished. The FAQ lists role-based course allocation, automated reminders, certification expiry tracking and instant compliance report generation as the repetitive tasks it takes off the L&D team.
The record-keeping side is broad. All courses, certificates, uploaded files and external training records sit in what the page calls "one secure hub", so training done outside the LMS can be stored alongside training done inside it. The FAQ frames this as the cure for fragmented training, where certificates live in disconnected systems and nobody has a verifiable audit trail.
Reporting runs through live dashboards, training matrices and exportable reports, which the page says help you "spot risk early". Reports can be scheduled for managers, leaders and boards, and compliance reports can be generated in minutes. The FAQ names compliance-heavy workforces in healthcare, construction and manufacturing as the typical fit, and the company's industry pages also cover aged care, education, financial services, hospitality, retail and not-for-profits.
Building and sourcing content
ELMO Course Builder is the built-in authoring tool. The page says you can "create interactive learning with no coding" and add video, images, voiceovers, quizzes and assessments. Existing business material such as PowerPoint slides can be converted into courses. The FAQ adds that the LMS supports videos, documents, presentations, interactive modules, quizzes, assessments, surveys and policy acknowledgements.
Content made elsewhere comes in as SCORM: the page says you can import SCORM 1.2 courses alongside content built in Course Builder or picked from the Content Library. For organizations that would rather buy than build, ELMO offers an optional add-on library of 400+ pre-built courses and videos covering compliance, soft skills and video eLearning.
Customer quotes on the page lean on the custom-build angle. Scott Dalby says: "The learning module that we've got with ELMO has allowed us to completely brand and tailor the learning product. Now we're able to give it a real Swans feel and also tailor the content itself to make sure it's as relevant as it possibly can be and therefore more engaging for employees." Another customer quote describes building their own safe and respectful workplace modules into onboarding, with automated reminders for annual renewal.
Delivery, mobile and the learner side
Delivery is not limited to self-paced modules. ELMO Learning combines self-paced, instructor-led and blended learning, and it manages classroom and virtual sessions, including learner registration. Employees get personalized dashboards, learning plans and content that reflect their role and goals.
Remote and frontline staff use the ELMOHR app, which the page says gives on-demand access on smartphones, tablets and desktop. Onboarding training can be auto-assigned to new starters, which ties the LMS to ELMO's onboarding module.
Connected to the rest of ELMO
The bigger argument for ELMO Learning is what it connects to. The homepage says ELMO "unifies HR, Payroll and Rostering on one data foundation" rather than bundling separate products under one brand, and the learning page talks about linking learning data with wider people processes so development supports the employee lifecycle.
Next to the LMS, the Develop group includes Performance, which links employee goals to broader objectives with progress tracking, alerts and reminders, and Career Development, which the menu describes as "AI-powered frameworks, manager-led assessments, and personalised learning paths." Under Plan, Succession aims to "secure a premium talent pipeline, create future leaders, and ensure business continuity." Workforce Design lets you develop capability frameworks and identify skills gaps "in minutes, not months", generate frameworks for emerging skills, benchmark current capabilities and build personalized learning pathways. AI runs through the wider platform too, from natural language insights in HR Core to AI screening in recruitment.
Prices, implementation and support
The site publishes no prices; the routes in are a sales form, a fact sheet download and a "Chat to the team" button, with consultants or authorized partners following up.
On implementation, the homepage promises "Live in weeks, not quarters" and pairs customers with local experts for ongoing optimization and change management. Support for existing customers runs through a help desk portal with guides and ticketing, Customer Success Managers, bespoke services, ELMO Academy (self-paced online courses for company administrators) and training videos for end users. A partner program and partner finder cover customers who buy through a partner.
The page leans on a Forrester Total Economic Impact study commissioned by ELMO. ELMO notes that the results are based on a composite organization and are an illustrative estimate, not a guaranteed outcome. Within that scope, the study figures it quotes are around 480 hours a year saved developing and rolling out training, 5-10 hours a week saved chasing compliance, a 94% reduction in audit prep time, around 14,790 hours a year of work redirected by automating training administration, a 129% ROI over 3 years, and payback in under 6 months. For the platform as a whole, the site's sign-off reads "Join 2,000+ organisations and 1.2m users who trust ELMO everyday."
Who it suits
ELMO Learning suits mid-sized Australian and New Zealand organizations with compliance-heavy workforces, such as healthcare, aged care, construction and manufacturing, where tracking certificate expiry and proving completion for audits is a weekly job. It makes the most sense for teams already running ELMO for HR, payroll or rostering, or planning to, because the value grows when learning data sits in the same record as performance, onboarding and succession. The course builder and the optional 400+ course library cover organizations that want to produce some content in-house and buy the rest.
It is a narrower fit for organizations outside Australia and New Zealand, since the product is designed for that market. Teams that want to sell courses to the public will not find course commerce on these pages. Content built in other authoring tools has to come in as SCORM 1.2, the version the page names, so check that against your existing course packages before you move them over.
