What Concara Is
Concara is a digital transformation company, a subsidiary of K4 Consultancy, that builds business systems for companies and includes a learning management system among them. Its home page title places it in Dublin, and the site says that "With offices in Cavan, Derry & Dublin we are well placed to provide digital transaction systems to customers right across Ireland and UK." The LMS page invites companies to "House all your training needs in one place with our bespoke learning management system."
The LMS is aimed at employers rather than individual learners or course sellers. In the company's words, it "will create, deliver, track and report the training needs for your business, ensuring you manage your employees and contractors training needs from start to finish." Contractors are named alongside employees throughout, so external workers can go through the same inductions and courses as staff.
Concara sells the LMS alongside a wider set of systems. Its home page lists the sectors and services it has transformed: manufacturing, work order management, ESG systems, ISO systems, HR and office management, safety management, plant, assets and equipment, food production and retail, construction management, board risk and governance, learning management, renewables and CRM systems. The company says it has "extensive experience in working with small, medium-sized, and established businesses across a range of sectors." The site's menu also lists case studies and grant support.
Why Concara Built It
The LMS page opens with a business case for developing people. A company can "build a high-performance workplace by developing, engaging and retaining your most valuable resource," and the page argues that employees "are looking for companies that offer an opportunity to learn, develop & grow," not just a good wage. The problem it names is execution: most companies "fail to implement learning & development effectively due to the administrative burden & lack of business oversight." Concara says its LMS "provides a focus for investment in people, putting managing talent high on the corporate agenda."
Key Features
The LMS page lists nine features.
Onboarding. Companies can "Set up your own bespoke onboarding program including prestart forms, inductions, and orientation meetings." New starters complete their paperwork and inductions through the system, and orientation meetings are scheduled as part of the same program.
Develop Training Material. Teams can "Create and manage your own engaging content, whether that be company induction or training on your processes & procedures." The emphasis is on a company's own procedures rather than a generic catalog.
Assign and Track. Managers "Assign courses based on your training needs analysis, track completion and pass rates live." Training is tied to an analysis of what each role needs, and results are visible as they happen.
Built-in Courses. For common workplace topics, Concara offers what it calls "our bank of certified training including manual handling, driver safety, asbestos awareness, mental health and working at heights." These sit ready in the system next to whatever content the company writes itself.
Manage Compliance. The system can "Flag expiry dates and provide automated reports, populate certificates through our secure document management system." Certificates sit in a document store inside the platform rather than in folders or email.
Communication. Learners and managers "Access via your own app to ensure end to end communication including booking confirmations, training notifications, reminders and push notifications." The app is the main channel for telling people what is booked, what is due and what has changed.
External Training. Not all training happens in-house, and the LMS handles that too. Companies can "Identify best prices, book external training and let the system manage certification and track expiries." A course run by an outside provider is booked through the system, and its certificate and renewal date are tracked alongside internal training.
Dashboard and Reporting. Managers can "Track training completed, identify gaps and trends, as well as areas of improvement for learning & development."
Time and Money. The page sums up the savings it expects: "Reduce travel time and venue costs, slash your administrative workload by automatically enrolling people, set expiry dates and set automated prompts for renewals."
How Concara Works With Clients
Concara presents itself as a business partner more than a software vendor, and the same three points appear on both its home page and its LMS page under "WHY OUR CLIENTS LOVE US!"
The first is experience: "We're not just tech bros!" The page says its specialists "have been there before" and know what works when building systems. The second is fitting the system to the client: "Is there anything worse than an IT company telling you how to run your building or manufacturing company?" Concara says it works with the client's own people and processes to help it scale, become more efficient and be more profitable. The third is improvement: the company says it is strong in organizational learning and performance, and that if there are barriers to better performance, it will find them and drive improvement in the client's system and culture.
The home page adds a philosophy behind all of its projects: "A system is more than just the sum of its parts," and "We don't settle for a digitial version of a poor process." It also says it will digitize a client's system so that both its people and its systems perform to their potential, and that "Unlike most software companies, we don't use a 'Technology First' approach."
Pricing and Getting Started
The site publishes no prices; the LMS page asks companies to get in touch about their training needs, and the home page closes with "Call us now!" The LMS is described as bespoke, so each setup is arranged with the client.
Who It Suits
Concara suits companies in Ireland and the UK that want one place to run onboarding, mandatory safety training, external course bookings and certificate renewals for both employees and contractors, and that would rather work with a local team that adapts the system to their processes. Manufacturers, construction firms, food producers and retailers, the sectors the company names, are the most obvious fit, especially where training records currently live in spreadsheets and expiry dates are tracked by hand.
It is not a platform for selling courses or for learners shopping for training, and companies that want to sign up online and configure everything themselves will find the process starts with a conversation instead.
