What Coassemble Is

Coassemble calls itself "The API-first training platform," and its one-line summary is "Author with AI, embed anywhere, and prove every completion, through one API." It is a course builder, learner player and reporting layer that a company can use as a standalone training tool or build into its own software, intranet or Slack. The site says it has been in production since 2015 and describes "A decade of helping teams turn knowledge into business impact, now an API and AI components built for how work happens today."

The solutions menu names four kinds of customer: internal teams building "Custom, connected LMS solutions for your own people," customer education teams running training libraries and academies, agencies and consultants who "Build once, deliver to every client under your own brand," and HR and people tech platforms building learning into their own product. Team pages cover L&D, sales enablement, operations, people and culture, compliance, remote, startup and frontline teams.

The core argument is that training should come to people rather than sit in a separate portal. The home page contrasts "A walled destination" with "Learning as infrastructure": delivery inside your product and existing tools, usage-based pricing instead of per-seat licensing, AI authoring from your own source material, a headless API with SCORM export, and going live in weeks.

Building Courses

Coassemble works for course authoring as much as delivery. Authors can build in the visual builder or generate and update courses through the API. The AI agent "reads your handbooks, decks, wikis and PDFs, then drafts a full course, screens, copy and a knowledge check." The pricing page lists course creation from Word, PowerPoint, PDF and Keynote files or from a brief with no document, three source-fidelity levels (Verbatim, Structured and Adaptive), an in-builder agent that can generate, rewrite, restructure and add checks, AI quizzes and images, AI narration with premium voices, a brand voice setting, and a Course Coach that reviews quality, engagement and accessibility. Authors can connect OneDrive or Google Drive, upload images and video, add stock photos and GIFs, organize courses in folders and group them into collections.

Learners get "Interactive lessons, flashcards, scenario quizzes and narration," rendered by the embeddable player. Assessment covers scored quizzes, pass marks, limited retries and quiz data export through the API. The FAQ says courses "open in any browser with nothing to install, and no login is required unless you choose to identify learners." Progress saves automatically, video completion can be enforced, and authors can set an accessible reading order. The pricing page says authors can work in 11 languages, and machine translation through the Themes & Translations API ships courses in learners' languages without a rebuild.

Delivering and Tracking Training

One course can go to many places. Coassemble describes delivering it into an LMS as a SCORM package, onto a website as "One line of markup, live & tracked," as a direct message in Slack, by email as "A signed link, one per person," as a full collection inside a SaaS product, or as an embedded builder inside an HR platform. Embeddables include course and collection players, cards and lists, builders and analytics components. On the SCORM side, the pricing page lists SCORM 2004 export on the Build plan, dynamic SCORM with multi-SCO export of a collection, importing and converting existing SCORM courses, and uploading a SCORM package to host as-is.

Reporting covers course views, sentiment, a progression funnel, completion rates, individual usage, SCORM usage and CSV downloads. Results stream out through the Tracking API and webhooks such as course.created, course.commenced and course.completed, and can be written back to an HRIS or other system of record. The help center lists integrations with Slack, HubSpot, Notion, Box, Loom, Vimeo, YouTube and Stripe, and the Academy page shows Salesforce, HubSpot, Zapier, Zoho and Intercom.

Customer Academies

For customer education, Coassemble Academy is a branded hub meant to "reduce support volume and boost engagement." The page names three uses: product adoption through interactive onboarding, upskilling with role-based development, and customer education portals. It adds custom branding with your logo, colors and tone of voice, user management with roles such as admin, author and learner, real-time reporting on engagement, completions and knowledge retention, and mobile-friendly courses. The page says Academy is "Trusted by 800+ teams who train customers with purpose."

Security and Hosting

The home page lists SOC 2 Type II with documentation under NDA (the FAQ says "Coassemble holds SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2"), region-locked environments in the EU, US and APAC, self-hosting for the Partner plan, a standard data-processing addendum, an immutable audit trail, programmatic GDPR deletes through the tracking API, and a "No-train AI policy" under which content and learner data "are never used to train third-party models." A releases page explains a two-stage rollout: updates reach the Standard Release server first and the Controlled Release server about two weeks later, with email notices and a vip@coassemble.com address for integration problems.

Pricing

Coassemble publishes its prices in USD. The FAQ explains that pricing "is based on plan features and usage measured by Identified Recipients," and that "Creators are unlimited on every plan, with no per-author seat charges." All plans run on a 12-month agreement, and paying yearly gives 2 months free.

Build costs $250 a month or $2,500 a year and includes the complete platform, the full REST API, webhooks, all embeddables, SCORM 2004 export and SOC 2 with a standard DPA, with 600 Identified Recipients and 12,000 anonymous views a year.

Scale starts at $500 a month or $5,000 a year, with committed usage of 2,400 to 120,000+ Identified Recipients a year, 24,000 anonymous views a year at entry with "no hard stop," a controlled-release server option, higher AI allowances, custom billing and priority support.

Partner starts at $2,000 a month or $20,000 a year and adds dedicated, region-locked or self-hosted infrastructure, a fully negotiated MSA, negotiated usage and AI terms, and dedicated account and technical management.

Before buying, teams can request a free sandbox with the "Full API, builder & embeddables," validation-level usage limits and no credit card, set up within one business day.

What Customers Say

Jess Leonard, Director of Operations at Gamesight, explains the choice: "As a lean, fully remote & distributed team, we needed a tool to help us share knowledge and best practices that would give us insight into course usage, but not come with a bunch of extra features we wouldn't use." Patrik of Hacktify says: "What used to take us 3–4 weeks to produce and deliver now takes a few days." Martina of Simpson Travel's training team writes that "The annual subscription is very reasonably priced and the support from the Coassemble team has been exceptional." Other customer stories cover Citrinex, Instructional Design Central, Regional Academies of Sport and Aureus Financial.

Who It Suits

Coassemble suits teams that want training to live where people already work: remote companies sharing processes in Slack or Teams, SaaS companies running a customer academy or embedding onboarding in their product, HR tech platforms adding a builder to their own software, and agencies serving several clients under their own brand. Unlimited creators and usage-based pricing reward teams with many authors, and the AI agent helps teams without instructional designers turn existing documents into courses.

The trade-off is that its strengths assume some technical appetite. A team that only wants a ready-made portal can use Academy and share links without code, but the embeddables, webhooks and API are where much of the value sits, and the plans start on an annual agreement rather than a month-to-month subscription.
