What BIS Safety's LMS is

BIS Safety Software Canada builds health and safety software for regulated organizations, and its Learning Management System is the training core of that suite. The LMS page describes "an enterprise-level Learning Management System (LMS)" with SCORM compatibility, a permission management system and an integrated training matrix, and says its tools automate many of the administrative jobs that come with training staff. The company states it has been building BIS Safety Software and EHS software "for over 20 years", and the home page counts 2.5M+ active users and 750+ network partners.

The reader is a safety, HR or operations team that has to keep a workforce trained, certified and audit-ready. The site is direct about who it is built for: "companies that prioritize safety training," with supporting features "closely aligned with safety." The wider suite has recently been renamed. The home page says BIS Safety Software "is redefined as Safety Acceleration Software™, now enhanced with AI-powered automation", a single system that unifies workforce training, certifications, digital field documentation, asset oversight and compliance reporting. The LMS sits alongside training record management, classroom management, digital forms, digital folders and asset and equipment management as one of six foundations.

Running training across a workforce

The LMS page lists the platform's headline features as advanced reporting tools, secure cloud hosting, mobile compatibility, an integrated exam engine, API and SSO integrations, and enterprise-level scalability. The home page frames the problems this is meant to solve: missed certification expiries across multiple sites, training records scattered across spreadsheets, and audit preparation that disrupts operations for weeks.

Reporting covers historical training records, online training courses, completed digital forms, training requirements, employee account information and company documents. During setup, BIS configures notification triggers and gives management accounts the level of access they need for reporting and competency assessments. The software menu adds a training record management system, an online classroom calendar for in-person sessions and a reporting dashboard, and the footer links to a BambooHR integration page.

Building courses with the AI Course Builder

Custom content does not have to start from a blank slide. The AI Course Builder, which the LMS page sums up as "Turn Documents Into Courses in Minutes", generates course outlines from uploaded PDFs or written instructions, creates slide content with AI voice narration, embeds relevant stock imagery through a built-in search, and produces chapter quizzes and final exams from the approved slides. The page adds that administrators review and adjust every element before publishing. Elsewhere in the suite the home page lists an AI Form Generator, AI Form Completion and an AI assistant called Ask Amy. For companies that would rather hand the work off, the menu also offers eLearning custom development.

BIS also sells ready-made safety courses. The course menu shows titles such as Ground Disturbance 201, Fall Protection (Alberta), BC Safe Driving, Lockout Tagout, WHMIS 2025, Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Safety, Forklift Training (Counterbalanced), Rigging and Overhead Crane & Rigging, with course subscriptions available and a reseller program for partners who want to offer the catalog themselves.

The exam engine

Assessment is strong enough to justify the listing's place among quiz and assessment tools. The Online Exam Engine page describes a secure tool to "conduct, monitor, and store your exams, evaluations, and surveys", used for pre-training and post-training tests, pre-hire assessments and technical exams. Question formats include multiple-choice, multi-select, true/false, fill-in-the-blank and interactive drag-and-drop activities, and long-answer questions can be added; the page says these are "automatically graded by qualified managers or employees" in BIStrainer.

Test design options are detailed. Administrators can build question pools and randomize the order of questions and answers, set time limits with a built-in timer, organize questions into sections by training topic or competency group, require a passing mark in each section before a learner moves on, and give feedback after each response. An Excel template and uploader handles "hundreds of questions at once." All evaluations are completed online, instantly marked and stored for review.

Exam integrity is handled through remote monitoring, which the page says can run "on any device using advanced biometric technology to verify student identity", and the menu lists a separate Virtual Proctoring product. Scoring compares the combined multiple-choice and long-answer result with the passing threshold to decide certificate eligibility, and a learner who passes receives an instantly generated certificate showing name, date, result, expiry and signatures.

Mobile access

Workers in the field use the BIS Safety App 2.0, which the LMS page calls SafeTapp. It gives each user access to their account, their training ticket, online courses and completed courses, and lets them download and store training certificates on any smartphone or tablet.

Onboarding and support

The LMS page lays out a six-stage onboarding run by a dedicated Client Success team, and says that whether a company has "100 employees or 100,000", the team will build a plan to suit it. Assessment collects the data to move from current methods, a stage that "typically we target around one week." Analysis turns that data into a launch schedule, with timing driven mainly by setup complexity and data quality. Import brings in hierarchy, users, historical data, job roles and training topics, with a designated contact on the customer's side. Setup arranges digital form workflows, folders, notification triggers and manager access. Training prepares everyone involved in the rollout, and Rollout is the live launch with support on hand. The exam tool page adds a custom branded portal for forms, workflows and reporting, and dedicated onboarding specialists.

Pricing, security and recognition

No prices appear on the LMS, exam or home pages; the route in is a demo request, and the footer links to a separate Software Pricing page. The home page describes the platform as "SOC-compliant", secure and scalable, and the LMS page lists secure cloud hosting. BIS says it was "Voted Canada's top HSE management technology" in the Canadian Occupational Safety Readers' Choice Awards 2026, and the site runs in English and French.

Who it suits and who it does not

BIS Safety fits a safety-led organization in construction, energy, transportation, mining or a similar regulated field that needs training, certificates, exams and field paperwork in one system. A company tracking expiring tickets across several sites, running pre-hire and technical exams, and wanting workers to carry their certificates on a phone gets all of that here, plus a course catalog that includes provincial titles such as Fall Protection (Alberta) and BC Safe Driving.

It is a less natural pick for an office-based company whose training is mostly soft skills or general professional development, since the features, courses and language of the product are built around safety programs.
