Ausmed Learn is a learning management system built for Australian healthcare providers: residential aged care, home care, disability care and acute care. It is an organization product, aimed at the education, quality and HR teams who have to assign mandatory training, track it across sites and prove it was done when an assessor arrives. The company behind it, Ausmed Education Pty Ltd, also runs an individual subscription for clinicians and a large library of care and clinical training, and both sit close to the LMS, so a provider buying the platform gets content as well as software.
What the LMS does
The product page describes Ausmed Learn as an LMS to coordinate the training and learning compliance of a care workforce, and its headline promise is to "Assign, track and report on your workforce's learning and development". Everything is organized around roles. An administrator defines competency requirements by role, and the system automatically assigns the relevant training to each staff member based on their position. The page lists the pathways this supports: role pathways, casual and agency onboarding, leadership tracks, refresher cycles, preceptor programs and surge capacity training. For a provider that relies on casual or agency staff, those pathways are a practical difference from a general corporate LMS.
Training plans are the main tool. The FAQ explains that a training plan is a reusable program for a role or team, given the example "RN – Annual Competencies", that runs on a schedule. Plans are built from templates, enroll staff by role, team or location, and repeat annually. Manual assignments sit beside them for one-off tasks aimed at specific users or a single event. The page describes building training plan matrices assigned by job role, "ready for your people to jump right in."
Multi-site providers get location handling. Administrators create locations (sites or campuses), group staff by site, role or team, set refresher cycles such as annual or 2-yearly with due dates, and rely on automated email reminders with escalation to managers. Dashboards and exports can be filtered by site, unit and role, so a facility manager sees what is due, overdue or complete for their own people.
Content: build, upload or use Ausmed's library
The page heading here is "Use your content or ours". On the build side, an organization can write its own learning articles, create courses with the Ausmed Learn Course Builder, upload a file, link to an external website, upload a video, or add a SCORM file to its library. The Course Builder is pitched as a way to make courses "that go beyond the constraints of slide-based presentations". SCORM downloads appear in the feature list, which matters for anyone moving existing packaged content across from another system.
On the content side, the page states that the Ausmed Library hosts more than 1,400 training resources and ALIS modules, and elsewhere that it consists of 1,400+ training modules. The ALIS library is described as developed by the Commission and hosted directly within the Ausmed LMS. The product menu calls the Ausmed Library the largest library of Australian-centric care and clinical resources, and it is sold in bundles: an Aged Care Library, a Clinical Care Library, a Disability Care Library and a Social Care: England bundle. The Acute Care sector page promises access to "100s of practical clinical resources". This is the part of Ausmed that places it among training libraries as well as business LMS products: a provider without an education team can run its mandatory program largely on bought-in modules.
Knowledge Verification is the feature that most sets the product apart. The page frames it as a way to "Stop retraining staff on what they already know": it identifies existing knowledge so the provider only invests training time where it matters. For experienced nurses or carers joining from another employer, that can mean skipping modules they would otherwise sit again every year.
External learning is covered too. The FAQ says a provider can capture learning completed outside the LMS as learning records "to keep a complete compliance history", so a first aid course done elsewhere or an in-person workshop still shows up in the staff member's record. Offline event planning is listed among the features for running those face-to-face sessions.
Reporting and the Strengthened Standards
Ausmed sells the LMS on audit readiness. The page promises "Automated reporting by standards" and audit-ready compliance reports, and the FAQ lists what its compliance reporting surfaces: overdue and "due soon" items by site, team or role; completion rates and time to complete; expiring certifications and competencies; exceptions such as unenrolled staff in required roles; and standards mapping to show coverage and gaps. The LMS keeps records of completion, attempts and certificates, with evidence stored on who completed what, when, and how it was verified.
The Australian aged care reforms are a recurring theme. The page says Ausmed Learn prepares providers to meet the governance, workforce planning and training outcomes mandated under Standard 2 (The Organisation) of the Strengthened Aged Care Standards, and the menu offers audit preparation tools and staff training for those standards. A featured customer story is titled "Achieving 4-Star Ratings Across 16 Sites Supported by Quality Education" and describes how Ausmed helped a provider prepare its staff for the Strengthened Standards.
Administration and integrations
The FAQ names the integrations Ausmed considers most important for LMS administration and describes each one: single sign-on for one-click access with the organization's identity provider; automated provisioning that adds, moves and removes users from HR systems or rosters; and HRIS sync that feeds job role, location and manager into enrollments and reporting. Admin access is role-based, with activity logs and least-privilege defaults, and the FAQ mentions data exports and API access for audits and BI tools. A mobile app is part of the feature list, and the home care page talks about mobile training for an on-the-go workforce, which suits carers who rarely sit at a desk.
The wider Ausmed platform
Ausmed Learn is one part of what the company calls a workforce capability platform. Alongside it sit Ausmed Policy (distributing policies and recording acknowledgement), Ausmed Perform (linking performance goals to learning and compliance), Ausmed Analytics (reporting for executives and managers), Ausmed Passport for organizations, and Ausmed Competency, marked as coming soon. An Ausmed AI product is described as building capability "through generative learning experiences." These are separate products, but a provider can grow into them from the LMS.
For individual health professionals, Ausmed's main site is titled "Online CPD Education + Personal Portfolio", and its description invites clinicians to start a subscription to access 1,000+ evidence-based resources and a personal portfolio. That is the continuing education side of the brand: a nurse or carer can keep learning and record it independently of any employer. The company also runs in-person events, live and on-demand webinars from healthcare experts, and a podcast series called Capability Corner under its Insights section, The Build.
Pricing, size and customers
The LMS page carries no prices; organizations request a call or book a demo, and the menu links to a separate pricing page. Ausmed segments its offer by size: small organizations get all-in-one staff training for teams of 5-50, and the midsize to enterprise offer is described as flagship compliance solutions for organizations of 50 - 10,000+ staff. The menu also refers to "the thousands of leaders building workforce capability with Ausmed" in its customer stories, and the footer states that Ausmed Education is a Trusted Information Partner of Healthdirect Australia. A customer quote from Nick Hansen of Ozcare says the move "wasn't just a system switch, it was a shift in how we support our workforce", adding that it changed how confident its clients feel in the care they receive.
Who it suits
Ausmed Learn is a strong match for Australian aged care, home care, disability and hospital providers that need role-based mandatory training, refresher cycles across several sites and reports mapped to the standards they are assessed against. A small provider with 5-50 staff and no in-house content team gets both the LMS and a ready library, and a large group gets SSO, HRIS sync and API exports. Individual clinicians who want CPD resources and a portfolio can use the subscription side without any employer involved.
It is a narrower fit outside care. The whole product, from the content library to the reporting by standards, is shaped around Australian healthcare, so a company in another industry, or a team that mainly wants to sell courses to the public, would be paying for depth it does not use. Buyers who like to compare published price tiers before a sales call will have to book a demo first.
