Altamira HRM

Altamira HRM is a cloud HR software suite from Altamira Srl, and Altamira Learning is its learning management system, the module this entry covers. The English home page describes it as "A cloud based, interactive and quick to deploy learning management system," and the Italian product page sums it up as course management through to eLearning delivery "in un’unica piattaforma, anche da mobile" (in one platform, on mobile too). It is built for the HR office of a company that runs its own training plan: classroom courses, blended programs, online modules and mandatory training, with the enrollments, calendars, costs and certificates that go with them. The FAQ says it suits "tutte le aziende con più di 25 dipendenti" (all companies with more than 25 employees). The company cites more than 25 years in HR technology for organizations in Italy and abroad.
Organizing the training catalog and plan
The core of Altamira Learning is the course catalog. The page says it is easy to build "un ricco catalogo della formazione aziendale, con corsi online, in presenza o blended" (a rich company training catalog of online, in-person or blended courses). Each course can run in several editions, and the HR team manages employee enrollment and creates and sends the lesson calendar from the same screen. Calendar invitations go to employees automatically for every session, and each new edition inherits the settings of the previous one, which cuts down repeat setup. Courses are managed in detail for content, scheduling and cost, and on-demand courses can carry video, audio and text material. Employees get a virtual catalog where they can sign up on their own, and a natural-language search engine, powered by AI, helps them find the right course.
Learning paths turn single courses into programs. A path is a sequence of courses that can be assigned to a specific role, to a cluster of employees such as all new hires, or to individuals, and the next course is assigned automatically as the learner progresses. Competencies are attached to the paths, so completing one successfully adds the competency to the employee's record. The platform maps employee skills and associates roles with courses; when someone changes role, it checks whether they need the courses tied to the new position.
Content and online delivery
Content can come from three places. A team can add videos from YouTube and Vimeo, upload its own videos to Altamira's servers or attach PDF documents. It can upload digital content in SCORM, xAPI/Tin Can and cmi5 formats, which the page describes as the main international formats "che permettono di certificare l’effettiva partecipazione del personale all’attività formativa" (that allow certifying staff's actual participation in training), and calls ideal for mandatory training. And it can buy from course catalogs: Altamira has integrated the offer of major eLearning course producers into the software to cover soft skills, hard skills and digital skills without starting from zero.
Live online training is handled too. For synchronous distance training (FAD sincrona), the platform creates an appointment in Google Meet or Microsoft Teams and sends participants the invitation and the link to join.
Mandatory training, certificates and records
Mandatory training is where the HR office gets most help. A deadline management system tracks the courses the company is legally required to run, and the page singles out everything connected with Decreto Legislativo 81/2008, the consolidated law on workplace safety (Testo Unico della Sicurezza sul Lavoro). Attendance at lessons is tracked in a virtual register that employees sign electronically, and the platform produces attendance certificates personalized for the company. Each employee has a training curriculum listing the training activities, courses attended and competencies gained over the years, and training taken outside the platform can be recorded as external training.
Giulia Bongi of Human Resources & Communication at ALPI is quoted on the page: "Con il software per la formazione aziendale di Altamira possiamo organizzare i piani formativi, tracciare i corsi frequentati dai dipendenti e ricevere notifiche che ci aiutano a rispettare le scadenze della formazione obbligatoria." In English, the tool lets them organize training plans, track the courses employees attended and get notifications that help them meet mandatory training deadlines.
Budgets, trainers, feedback and KPIs
Altamira Learning also handles the money side. HR sets the annual training budget, tracks spending against it, identifies the cost of each edition and keeps track of funded courses, and reports calculate training cost per employee, cost per business area and the amount of funding received. Teachers and trainers can be given their own access to approve enrollments, upload course material, schedule lessons and take attendance, which moves administrative work off the HR office.
Evaluation questionnaires on training effectiveness can be created and sent automatically after courses. Together with other KPIs, such as the number and level of competencies acquired, cost per employee, participation rate and course quality ratings, they show which courses work. Gamification is included: training challenges award points for enrolling in or completing a course, with leaderboards and individual badges.
The app and the rest of the suite
The Altamira HRMobile app, a free native app for Android and iOS, covers training alongside time tracking, leave, expenses and payslips. For learning, employees can browse the catalog, enroll in an edition, check their progress, download materials, receive training suggestions, watch video courses and attend online lessons from their phones.
Because Altamira Learning sits inside Altamira HRM, courses can be linked to onboarding paths and employee evaluations, and reports can cross training data with the company's full employee records. The other modules are Recruiting, Employees, Performance, Leave Management, Attendance and Expense. For outside systems, the suite offers a REST API, flat-file exchange, webhooks and a JavaScript scripting engine, and the FAQ names payroll software, CRMs and ERPs as integration targets. The interface is fully translated into Italian, English, French, Spanish and German, and the company says it has delivered projects in 21 languages using translation files.
Versions and pricing
The Learning page shows two versions. Standard, "Per organizzare la formazione interna" (for organizing internal training), covers the course catalog, learning paths, enrollments, attendance and exams, training materials, mandatory training, evaluation questionnaires, budget management, reports, KPIs and deadlines, and the mobile app. Plus, "Per erogare anche la formazione online" (to deliver online training as well), adds eLearning (SCORM/xAPI), synchronous distance training, training catalogs, support for external training, certificate generation, AI search and gamification.
No prices appear; both versions lead to a free demo. The English FAQ says pricing across the suite is usage-based and scales with the number of employees for HR management. Setup is a service rather than self-serve: the site describes configuration by expert consultants, application consulting and a customer success team.
Who it suits
Altamira Learning suits an Italian HR office with more than 25 employees to train that wants classroom, blended and online training, safety training under Decreto Legislativo 81/2008, budgets and certificates in one system, especially if it also wants recruiting, attendance or performance from the same vendor. Companies that rely on trainers and funded courses will use the delegation and funding reports. Standard fits a company that mainly runs in-person courses; Plus is the version for SCORM eLearning, live online classes and bought-in catalogs.
It suits less well a company that wants to sign up and see a price online, since every route goes through a demo, or one that only needs a place to host a few online courses, since much of the value is in the plan, editions and compliance records around them.
