What it is
Testbook is a large Indian exam preparation platform for government jobs, run by Testbook Edu Solutions Pvt. Ltd. from Noida. It is a learner product with three layers: test series sold through the Testbook Pass, paid SuperCoaching courses with daily live classes, and a free tier of live classes, live tests, quizzes, previous year papers and study notes. The home page sums up the approach as Learn, Practice, Improve, Succeed and lets a student "Get Started For Free". It also publishes big usage figures: 9+ Crore registered students, 242+ Crore tests attempted, 5.5+ Crore classes attended and 4+ Lacs student selections, which it breaks down as 19054 selections in SSC, 18921 in banking, 7087 in railways and 8505 in other government exams.
Exams covered
The exam list is very wide. The home page counts the exams in each group: SSC 32, Banking 81, Teaching 172, Civil Services 28, Railways 34, Engineering Recruitment 290, Defence 76, State Govt. 688, Police 91, Insurance 24 and Nursing 68, plus judiciary, regulatory body, MBA entrance, CUET and undergraduate entrance, campus placement and accounting groups. The test series page says it covers 814+ exams. In practice that runs from SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD and JE, the IBPS and SBI PO and clerk exams, RBI Grade B, SEBI Grade A and NABARD to the RRB NTPC, Group D, ALP, JE and technician exams, UPSC, state PSC and police exams, defense entry (NDA, CDS, AFCAT, Agniveer), and teaching exams such as CTET, REET, KVS, DSSSB, the state TETs, UGC NET and CSIR NET. The teaching and NET exams are where Testbook overlaps with certification prep, along with the JAIIB and CAIIB exams for bankers.
Test series and the Testbook Pass
The test series are the core. The Pass opens every test series of every exam, and the test series page lists what it includes: mock tests, live tests, study notes, doubt support, previous year papers, a re-attempt mode and unlimited practice. The home page adds All India Rank, the latest exam patterns, in-depth performance analysis and multilingual mock tests. The series are large. The SSC CGL Mock Test Series 2026 holds 2491 tests, 16 of them free; SSC CHSL has 2553 tests with 7 free; the RRB NTPC Graduate series has 1929 tests with 16 free; and the IBPS Clerk series has 334 tests with 5 free. Many series run in English and Hindi only, while some railway and SSC series add regional languages such as Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Gujarati, and the home page says students can learn in any of 8 languages.
The FAQ sets out the rules. Free users can attempt a free test only once, while paid users can attempt and reattempt any test unlimited times. Detailed solutions are available after the test and a detailed analysis of performance comes after submission, but papers cannot be downloaded. Solutions and analysis need a valid Pass and an unexpired test, and attempted tests stay available for review until 15 days after the test expiry date, which is independent of the Pass expiry. Tests can be taken on the website or the Android app; if the connection drops, an ordinary test auto-pauses and can be resumed, and a student can also pause manually.
Live tests work differently. They run in a fixed window and cannot be paused, so the FAQ asks for an uninterrupted internet and power connection, and a missed live test cannot be taken later as a live test. Free live tests run all the time: the test series page shows mini live tests of 20 questions in 12 minutes for bank PO and clerk sections and an All India IBPS Clerk mega live test of 100 questions in 60 minutes.
SuperCoaching and free live classes
SuperCoaching is the course layer. The home page lists what it includes: courses by "Super Teachers", daily live classes by experts, complete study material, practice questions, quick doubt resolution by experts and access to 50,000+ mock tests. Courses shown include an RRB Group D live batch with 250 live classes in Hinglish, an RRB Group D 'Express' crash course with 80 live classes, an SSC CGL crash course, and Super Pass Live for UGC NET.
Free live classes sit beside the paid courses. The free classes page says they cover important topics and concepts for exam categories like SSC, banking and defense, run in bilingual mode, and stay available after the live session for anyone who missed them. Ongoing series run on fixed schedules, for example a daily editorial class for bank exams at 8:00 AM, Monday to Friday, and masterclasses for state civil service exams. The page describes the free classes as "quite different from our Select course", offering "free live classes for government exams including the test series, mock tests and interactive quizzes" for concept clarification and revision.
Payments, refunds and support
The pages show no Pass or course prices. The payment FAQ is specific about everything else. A student can pay by debit card, ATM card, credit card, netbanking or wallets such as Amazon Pay, and can email support for another method. If a payment is charged twice or a failed transaction deducts money, the amount is generally refunded to the bank account automatically, with email support as the fallback. There is no refund on a Testbook Pass once bought, including when a student stops using it before expiry, and a purchased plan cannot be changed or canceled. Accounts cannot be shared, and the FAQ says shared accounts are blocked; instead a student can refer the Pass to a friend at a discounted price and earn cashback. Support runs by email, and the office hours are 10 AM to 7 PM, all 7 days.
Results and testimonials
A Wall of Fame lists toppers, among them Samridhi Talwar at AIR 1 in Delhi Judicial 2024 and Ashish Tiwari at AIR 2 in SSC CGL 2024. The test series page carries older testimonials. Amit Jain, AIR 1 in SSC CGL 2016, credits the detailed analysis and question quality. Prasant Kumar Verma, AIR 154 in GATE EE 2019, says the questions were on par with the actual exam and that he also took live tests and reward quizzes. Akshat Jain (IBPS PO Mains 2019) bought the course pass in mid-August, and Abhinav Rupesh Karthakula says joining the SBI PO live course made the difference on his second attempt. Ashutosh Kumar (Railways Group D 2019) always attempted the live tests to gain confidence.
Who it suits
Testbook suits almost any candidate for a central or state government job, especially one who wants a deep bank of mock tests for a popular exam such as SSC CGL, CHSL, RRB NTPC or IBPS Clerk, with live tests and an All India Rank to measure against. Candidates who prefer Hindi or a regional language are better served here than on English-only sites, and the free live classes, free tests and previous papers let a student try the platform before paying. The caveats are commercial. The Pass is non-refundable and cannot be canceled, free users get only one attempt per free test, and solutions disappear 15 days after a test expires, so a candidate should time a Pass purchase to the exam they are actually sitting.
