What Educ.ar is

Educ.ar is the "portal educativo de la Secretaría de Educación", the educational portal of Argentina's Education Secretariat, published by Educ.ar SAU from an address on Avenida Comodoro Rivadavia. It does two jobs. It is a resource library for schools, with lesson material, ready-made classroom activities and special collections, browsable by profile for school leaders, teachers, students and families. And it runs online courses: Cursos para la Comunidad (courses for the community), open to anyone, and Hojas de ruta (road maps), self-guided training paths for teachers. For this directory it sits with learner products. A member of the public can take a free course in a trade or a digital skill, and a teacher can follow a path on teaching with technology, both online and at their own pace.

Courses for the community

The courses page describes the community courses as promoting "una experiencia de aprendizaje continuo a lo largo de toda la vida" (a lifelong learning experience). Their stated aim is to give access to knowledge and tools for taking on new tasks at home, improving work performance and creating new opportunities, organizing study, or discovering a vocation. The first 2023 edition offered 43 courses in nine categories:

  • Haciendo en casa (doing it at home): family vegetable gardening, cooking with garden produce, building high-efficiency wood-burning equipment and growing plants in urban spaces, all from INTA, plus urban composting, basic bread baking, the three R's of reduce, reuse and recycle, apps for curious children, digital tools for everyday problems, multiplatform games and responsible bicycle use.
  • Habilidades y herramientas para el trabajo (work skills and tools): basic product photography at home, CVs and job interviews, entrepreneurship in action, and cost structures for small businesses.
  • Computación (computing): repairing and maintaining a personal computer, computer security, and introductory and advanced courses on Huayra, the latter on audio and video.
  • Comunicación y colaboración (communication and collaboration): journalistic documentaries for social media, group work with Google Drive, collaborative work in the cloud, effective presentations, and a Wikimedia Argentina course on free culture and the Wikimedia projects in education.
  • Programación y diseño (programming and design): stop motion, design, vector design, two video game courses (interactive narratives and Construct 2), Arduino for the home, and visual programming with Processing.
  • Convivencia digital (digital coexistence): grooming prevention and response.
  • Fabricación (making): discrete electronics, and building a carbon dioxide meter, a course credited to Unahur, Inet and the Ministry of Education.
  • Oficios (trades): plumbing, ironwork, basket weaving, handmade knives, masonry, dressmaking, carpentry, finishing work and hairdressing.
  • Cultura (culture): tools and strategies for cultural projects, and the new economy of culture, both from the national Ministry of Culture.

The page states plainly that the community courses grant a "constancia de aprobación", a record that the learner passed the course.

Hojas de ruta for teachers

The Hojas de ruta are self-guided paths "dirigidos a docentes de todos los niveles, directivos y equipos de orientación" (aimed at teachers at every level, school leaders and guidance teams). They support the educational use of netbooks and of the virtual classrooms of the Plataforma Conectar Igualdad. The 2023 edition listed 13: designing technology-mediated teaching, ICT strategies and tools for following students' progress, designing and publishing digital educational resources, spaces for interaction, communication and collaboration, designing interactive resources with H5P, multimedia production of educational content, designing and managing institutional projects with ICT (for school leaders), hybrid education, the Wikimedia projects in teaching, mashup and remix of educational resources, digital teaching materials, interdisciplinary school projects, and using social networks to teach and learn.

How the courses run

Courses come in editions with fixed dates rather than open enrollment. For the first 2023 edition, enrollment ran from 13 to 22 March, and courses ran from 29 March for one month, until 28 April. The format is "virtual autoasistida", virtual and self-guided, and both the community courses and the teacher paths are delivered on the Conectar Igualdad platform. They are free, "de manera que cualquier persona pueda aprender algo nuevo desde el lugar en el que esté y en el momento en que lo desee" (so that anyone can learn something new from wherever they are, whenever they wish). The page adds that the two programs together have had more than 350,000 enrollments since their launch in 2020.

The offer keeps moving. The latest news on the site announces a second edition of the Educ.ar 2026 courses, on artificial intelligence, digital media, technology and trades, for teachers, school leaders and the community, and a separate 2026 course series for teachers and school leaders on AI and literacy. Educ.ar Lab Mendoza runs free workshops in technology and science for children aged 6 to 13.

Classroom resources on the portal

Outside the courses, most of Educ.ar is material for lessons. The home page features a mathematics collection seen from different angles, a literacy section described as "federal, progresiva, integral e intercultural" with parts for teachers, school leaders and families, materials for teaching the National Constitution at primary and secondary level, an AI minisite with reflections and materials on the technology, and "1000 maneras de estudiar" (1,000 ways to study), with recommendations, tutorials and interactive activities to make studying easier. A calendar of key dates for the first half of 2026 comes with suggested resources for each.

Ready-to-use classroom activities on the home page include card games for number problems in early education, a primary school unit on noise pollution and a secondary school project on the biographies of economists. Other features include a fictional first-person portrait of the mathematician Rebeca Guber for her centenary, a school football resource for physical education, and an episode of the series Territorio animal on the Andean condor. The site also invites teachers to answer a survey on their experience.

Educ.ar can be reached through a contact page, a phone line and an e-mail address published in the footer.

Who it suits

Educ.ar suits Spanish-speaking adults in Argentina who want a free, short, structured course in a practical subject, from plumbing and carpentry to Arduino, photography or small business costs, and teachers who want self-paced training on running virtual classrooms and building digital material, now extended to AI. Families get guidance for children's apps and literacy, and teachers get a large stock of ready lesson material alongside the courses. The trade-offs come with the model. Courses run in dated editions, so a learner has to catch an enrollment window, the format is self-guided rather than tutored, and what learners receive at the end is a constancia de aprobación, a record of passing the course.
