What App-Learning is
App-Learning is a microlearning platform from App-Learning GmbH that builds branded learning academies for companies, aimed at teams running customer education, employee onboarding and compliance training. The home page sums it up as "Branded microlearning academies. Live in weeks, not months." and describes gamified courses "built for fast rollout and on-the-job retention." Its own blog positions it most clearly for fintech and crypto companies, writing that App-Learning "fits fintech teams using education to improve activation, trust, and retention."
The product grew out of a consumer app. The about page says the company's first product was the Simple Bitcoin App, built to make bitcoin and crypto understandable in minutes, and that it proved micro-lessons could earn daily attention. The bottleneck it then ran into was producing good content at scale, so the team built a content pipeline that blends automation with expert review. That pipeline now runs App-Learning, which the about page says is used by hundreds of thousands of learners across a wide range of businesses to onboard employees, train customers and keep compliance current.
How the platform is put together
The home page splits the product into three parts. The Content Authoring Engine turns subject matter into ready-to-use microcourses. The Learning Management System gives admins tools to manage rollout, users and progress. The Engaged Learning Experience is the learner side, described as "Engagement-first learning designed for daily habits."
Building courses. The FAQ says the authoring LMS lets a company's own team create micro courses with quizzes, videos, visuals and external resources. Lessons are short by design; the about page's demo invitation reads "5 Minutes, One Lesson." Existing training material does not have to be rebuilt by hand: App-Learning converts docs, slide decks and videos into micro lessons with quizzes, and a review session keeps accuracy high.
Done-for-you production. For L&D teams without time to write, App-Learning offers course production through what the home page calls a hybrid pipeline combining automation with human review. It runs in four steps. In Input & Design the customer provides the source material and App-Learning advises on learning goals and structure. In Outline & Enrich it creates a course outline and adds examples, references and assets. In Auto Convert the pipeline turns the outline into bite-sized, gamified lessons and quizzes. In Review & Launch the customer reviews, App-Learning finalizes, and the course is published to the academy. The home page claims "~95% saved time" for this process.
Learning paths and audiences. Admins create tracks by role, team, region or seniority and manage which audience sees what. That is how one academy serves several groups: new hires, a compliance population, sales reps, external customers and partners.
The learner experience. The FAQ credits short lessons, built-in quizzes, certificates and gamified mechanics with driving motivation and habit building. Learning works on web and mobile, and the footer links to the App Store and Play Store. A sample interactive course is available on the site for anyone who wants to try the format before booking a demo.
Analytics. Admins get a KPI dashboard showing completions, drop-off points, popular courses, time spent per user and exportable reports.
Integrations. Asked how it fits with an existing LMS or HRIS, the FAQ says to use SSO for access control and to sync user attributes, export reports as CSV, and that API-based integrations are available on request.
Customer education and in-product learning
The FAQ answers the customer education question directly: the platform "is built for internal onboarding and compliance, as well as external user or partner education." For customer academies, learning can be placed inside the customer's own product or site with deep links from the product UI to specific lessons and modules, and the FAQ adds that embeds and single sign-on reduce friction.
The company blog explains the thinking behind this. A post on customer training LMS choices says customer-facing learning "should feel like part of the product, not an HR portal," and argues that product adoption and time to value matter more than course completion alone. It describes App-Learning's customer education approach as branded academies, short lessons, quizzes, gamified progression and analytics connected to onboarding and lifecycle journeys. A post on branded learning platforms lists what App-Learning offers in its own words: role-based learning paths, quizzes, certificates, dashboards, SSO, web and mobile delivery, and the ability to turn existing material into short modules.
Employee training and compliance
Three internal use cases sit on the home page. Internal expertise covers onboarding employees to company standards with "Tiny daily lessons that compound into real company expertise," and role-specific learning paths launched in weeks. Compliance training pairs compliance essentials with practical scenarios teams face daily, under the line "Mandatory training must be engaging, not dull." Product training targets sales ramp-up, with micro-lessons reps can finish between calls.
A September 2026 blog post goes further for regulated teams, describing how App-Learning can map modular content and assessments to a customer's own competency definitions, start with baseline diagnostics, route people to the next learning action and capture evidence of mastery.
Numbers, customers and pricing
The about page lists 175K+ learners across all platforms, a 4.6 rating from more than 3,000 ratings, more than 10 academies launched and 4000+ hours saved for L&D managers. The named case studies are the Antifraud Academy and Bitsonauts Academy (both for Bitso), the Invity Academy and a Blueprint Academy, and a testimonial also comes from Melanion Capital's Melanion Academy.
The testimonials are specific. Maria Achaga, People & Culture Lead at Bitso, says: "We achieved a 90% course certification rate among employees, ensuring they have the minimum crypto knowledge we expect of them." Denisa Faltova of Invity says the team "reduced content production time by hours and saw higher user satisfaction and engagement rates." Henrique Chagas of Bitso says production time "was streamlined with the use of AI."
The site publishes no prices; the route in is a demo booking. The FAQ says most teams launch a branded academy in weeks once content and brand assets are ready.
The people named on the about page are Yannic Fraebel (Content Lead), Julian Baumann (Technical Lead) and Daniel Wingen (Sales Lead).
Who it suits
App-Learning fits a fintech, crypto or other financial product company that needs to explain a complex product to customers and staff in short pieces, and wants a branded academy rather than a generic portal. It also suits an L&D team that has the subject knowledge but not the hours to turn it into courses, since the production pipeline and content migration take much of that work off its hands. Sales and compliance teams that need frequent short refreshers fit the format well.
The caveat is scope. App-Learning is built around short lessons and branded academies, so a team that wants long-form courses will not find that format here, and prices only come out of a demo conversation.
