Xperiencify
Tap a star to rate
Xperiencify is an all-in-one course platform for creators who sell courses, memberships and communities, built around one idea: getting more students to finish. The About page says Marisa Murgatroyd and Murray Gray started the company in 2019 after running courses at their education business, Live Your Message, where only around 5% of students completed. After rebuilding those courses with gamification, adult learning psychology and techniques from apps and games, "our student completion rate had risen to over 50%". Students, clients and customers then asked to use the platform, and Xperiencify was the result. The homepage says it is trusted by over 10,000 course creators.
The gamified course
Xperiencify wraps a course in what the homepage calls seven gamification triggers, and each is something the creator switches on rather than builds.
- Points. Students earn XP for every training and action, the creator sets how many points each one is worth, and a progress panel shows the running total. Dozens of sound effects come built in, or the creator uploads their own.
- Variable rewards. Random points surprise students, borrowing the idea that unpredictable rewards keep people engaged.
- Urgency and FOMO. Custom countdowns can sit anywhere in a course, for evergreen or live cohort-based courses, with several countdowns for different phases or modules and time-based sprints or contests within a cohort.
- Social proof. Creators design their own collection of badges and award them for any behavior, including taking part socially.
- Community. A warm-welcome feature lets existing students greet each new one, and community forums and groups are part of the feature set.
- Celebrations. Six kinds of milestone and achievement celebrations, from a welcome celebration onward, plus a Celebration Builder for custom ones.
- Personalization. The Experience Engine works out what each student needs to engage more deeply, and pre-written messages of praise and encouragement go out automatically, by email, popup, SMS or voicemail, when a student is on a streak, finishes a hard module or comes back after a week away.
Around the game layer sit the usual course tools: simple or multi-pathway logic-driven quizzes and assessments, leaderboards, binge mode, and completion certificates the pricing page promises students will want to frame. An AI bot, "Ask the Expert", is trained on the creator's content and answers students' questions about it. A native iOS and Android app serves students on the go, and a course name generator helps with the first decision.
The homepage claims creators see 10 to 30 times higher engagement, which it defines as logins, active learning sessions, completed lessons or modules and repeat visits, and says this is distinct from full-course completion. It also says more than 4,500 course makers have used its experiencification techniques.
Selling and running the business
Xperiencify bundles the business tools a course creator would otherwise buy separately. On the marketing side the pricing page lists email broadcasting and autoresponders, a full CRM, affiliate and customer referral management, A/B split testing of pages and social media scheduling. For selling there are graphical multi-step sales funnels, one-click upsells, down-sells and order bumps, sales pipeline management, sales tax management for all countries, regions and territories, appointments and calendar booking, two-way SMS, phone calls from inside the CRM and ringless voicemail.
The website side covers a drag-and-drop page builder, point-and-click opt-in, webinar, sales and landing pages, a library of pre-designed pages, WordPress site hosting, live onsite chat and a Facebook Messenger widget. Behind the scenes come an automations engine, an analytics dashboard, reputation management, AI copywriting and content generation, and e-signable contracts. Integrations run through Zapier, Pabbly and Make, and the free account includes Zapier and API access and a custom domain. The homepage puts the cost of assembling the same tools separately at almost $5,000 per month, and adds that most people use only a handful of features at first.
Plans and pricing
Every account starts as a free Sandbox. The homepage says the account is completely free until you are ready to publish a course, needs no credit card and has no trial period, and the Sandbox already includes course creation, all gamification, unlimited instructors, administrators, automations, community, CRM, sales and integrations. Payment starts when the course goes live.
The pricing page lists three plans:
- Growth plan, for growing course creators: $99 per month, with 10 published courses and 1000 active monthly students.
- Pro plan, for established course creators: $199, with 20 published courses and 5000 active monthly students.
- Lifetime: a one-time payment of $1499.
All plans include unlimited sites, funnels and courses, and the page offers a monthly and an annual toggle. An Enterprise plan covers customized solutions and large teams on request.
Two services lower the effort of getting started. A Certified Xperiencify Expert can build the course with the creator, with personal step-by-step guidance, and Xperiencify guarantees the course will be online and ready to sell in 30 days or less. Creators moving from another platform can have Xperiencify transfer the course and gamify it for them at no charge, along with a year of the Growth plan.
Support and team
Live chat support is included on all plans, and the homepage notes that every member of the support team is a course creator. The About page introduces the team: Marisa Murgatroyd, co-founder and CEO of Live Your Message and creator of over 30 courses, who developed the Experience Formula of 10 core experiences behind the platform and teaches it in her 12-week Experience Product Masterclass; Murray Gray, chief marketing and technology officer at Live Your Message from 2011 until 2021, a period in which the business passed $25M in course sales; Stephen Ladek, Head of Success; a support manager and a course migration specialist; and a development team. Gamification author Yu-kai Chou, creator of the Octalysis Framework, is listed as an advisor. The blog covers course creation, gamification, microlearning and employee training.
Who it suits
Xperiencify fits a creator who already sells courses and sees students drop off after the first weeks: a coach running cohorts, an educator with an evergreen program, or a membership owner who wants engagement and repeat purchases. The gamification works out of the box, and the CRM, email, funnels and phone tools let a small business run on one subscription. The free Sandbox lets a first-time creator build and test the whole course before paying.
A creator who wants a plain, minimal course site will use only part of what the platform offers, and the published-course and active-student limits on Growth and Pro decide which plan fits as a business grows.
