Teachable

Teachable was founded in 2013 (originally as Fedora) and became one of the platforms that made "just sell your course online" a viable business for individual creators. Hotmart, the Brazilian creator-economy company, acquired it in 2020. On annual billing its four plans run from Starter at $29 a month up to Advanced near $300, and the fee structure rewards volume: Starter carries a 7.5% cut of every sale, while Builder, Growth, and Advanced charge no platform fee at all, leaving only the card processor's cut.

For that price you get course hosting, a checkout, basic email and affiliate tools, and enough theme customization to make a course page look like a real product rather than a template. Teachable exports student data and content if you leave, and issues completion certificates on paid plans, but it doesn't do live cohorts or a deep community layer. It fits a creator selling a self-paced course who wants the fee dropping to zero as revenue grows, more than someone building a membership around ongoing discussion.
